It seems many of my comments and compliments have already been voiced, but I will simply say I was very impressed with how this event turned out and definitely happy I made the trip.
After sorting out my number (which had been changed on account of a competitor who had ended up cancelling), the weekend ran quite smoothly.
Could not have asked for better weather! I think CADL made a very good decision regarding run orders, making conditions as fair as possible and keeping the days efficient. I found I was able to make my first pass to sort things out in my head, push it on the second pass, and then had time to reflect on what did and did not work before running out to chase cones, then had time to get back in "the zone" before laying down 2 passes that counted.
Kudos to the organizers, volunteers and fellow competitors for making this such a great event. I really enjoyed the chance to learn more about my driving compared to others', meet new people, share in their experiences, and set new goals!
My times weren't great, but I wasn't surprised. It seems that little fear of speed I had when I first started autoslalom managed to creep back in my way when I hit such a quick, open course layout. Once I made the decision to just put my foot down, I had a lot of fun.
So with that, please enjoy the one cone I hit all weekend. Last run of the last day. Typical.
