That's what I was planning. IMHO the JMC is the customary end to all "pavement" events for the year.

What weekend is the Canfield? I'll likely be moving into the house the second week of Oct, so I'm probably not going to be able to get on until the end of Oct or so...

Hey all,

The GT5 Season will have it's first race on Sunday Oct 14th.
The first official practice will be Wednesday Oct 10th.

I'm still working out the details for this series, but you will have your choice of 3 cars:

-Toyota 86 GT '12
-Scion FRS '12
-Subaru BRZ S* '12
(Full modifications/upgrades permitted)

All three are near identical, same weight, horsepower, 505 PP, etc

There will be 2 races every Sunday night. Each race will be ~100km in length.
There will be a total of 8 races in the series, however only your best 6 will count towards the championship.

Again, I'm still working out the details but expect a full official post sometime next week.

I'm looking forward to this season. Unfortunately my honeymoon also starts on Sunday October 14th. Someone is going to be disappointed and I doubt if its my fiancé.

I put up a pile of laps and found no real difference between the three, so I'm going to run the Scion FRS, for the simple reason of sitting on the left of the car in the in car view. I don't know if I'm going to run a wing or not, but my car will be orange with red wheels. I take it we will be allowed all tire selection, or are we limiting the tires?

I'll be taking the BRZ-S. WR blue with Gold rims.

I'm thinking about limiting the tires..... either Sports Soft or Race Hard.

Yippee! I finally got GT5 working on my PS3. I had to delete the game under Game Save Utilities, then reinstall from the disc. It actually took 1h 15m just to download & install all of the updates since the game's release.

I grabbed the Toyota 86 FT and tuned it up / painted it / etc. Have not driven it yet.

May I suggest that when scheduling the two races for each Sunday night, that both races be on the same track with qualifying for each? That's the way the Regulars league does it, and it works quite well. Then you can focus all your practicing on one track for the week.

Maybe run it both directions? Deep forest and Deep Forest Reverse for example. Just something to spice it up, 200kms of racing on one track seems like it would get a bit drawn out. I like the idea behind it though.

As for the tires, I did all my tuning on Sports Softs, but I wouldn't mind being able to run Race Hards for a 100km race.

Running the same track in reverse is essentially the same as running two completely different tracks.

My preference would be to run the exact same track (preferably a real world track) twice per night, allowing you to focus on it during the preceding week of practice and really nail it down. It's been a while since I've run GT5, but I've found on iRacing that it takes 100+ laps in a particular car / track combo to get to a point where you can run consistent fast laps without mistakes.

Just food for thought.

Scion FRS will be my ride, as far as tires go I prefer racing tires, but sports tires could make things more interesting plus you need a better suspension set up.

A 100km race is not a "sprint", it's more than enough time to sort out the field.
I think that two races on the same track would yield the same basic results and be a little boring.
If the majority want it we can certainly try it, but right now it looks like you're the only one Scott :)

We've all run the tracks in GT5 countless times, and a well sorted car should be able to handle any track (once the gearing is sorted).
One idea might be for people to post the Final Gear Ratio that they are using for tracks, that's what most people quick tune for anyways.

.... besides.... I want you to make mistakes so I can win! 8)

I think two different tracks is my choice.

There maybe some confusion as to which cars are permitted. Here is the list again:
(All cars are DLC, but I believe one maybe free and the others are 99cents)

Toyota 86 GT '12
http://www.mygranturismo.net/car_sheet.php?id=1081

Scion FR-S '12
http://www.mygranturismo.net/car_sheet.php?id=1090

Subaru BR-Z S ’12
http://www.mygranturismo.net/car_sheet.php?id=1104

Not to be confused with following cars that are NOT permitted:
Toyota FT-86 Concept '09
Toyota FT-86 G SPORTS Concept '10
Toyota FT-86 II Concept '11
(Basically, the 86 "Concept" cars)
