I know of 3 more people that are going that aren't on the list yet. That will be the required 16.

Great to hear that there is more interest. Please have them contact me and pre-register so that they are on the list, that way we have 16. I am not including anyone until they have pre-registered. As per the SUPP REGS that are posted at the start of this thread you must pre-register. This does not require payment, just to tell one of the officials that you plan on attending.

So we just had one person who has had something come up and had to withdraw their entry. This leaves us at 14 currently. We are just under 7 full days until the cut off. We NEED 2 more people to PRE-REGISTER before 5pm this coming Sunday so that this event can move forward. I will be sending out another email to hopefully get some more interest in this event. If you know of someone who is thinking about/ Planning on attending; please have the contact me either here on the forum or by emailing solo@ascc.ca . When I have 16 people registered I will send out an email to everyone letting you know.

240*2 is 480/14 is 34 bucks more a piece we already know that we have enough for saftey as the last ta reqd 12. I'm pretty sure its a safe bet 2 say its a go and i will happily cough up 34 dollars to keep it regional. But yes your right do the pre register. But @ the same time it would b rediculous for this not to happen with the current numbers.

There are a few technicalities at play here that I understand some are not aware of, so I will try and explain.

Here are the actual financial figures to date:

Technically 1 of the vehicles is being shared over the 2 days so that means we have 12 entrants @ $240.00 and 1 entrant @ $160.00. This equals $3040.00 of proposed income from entrance fee's. (I say proposed as I believe only one or two people have paid as of yet)

The cost of the event is roughly $3800.00

So that actually makes us roughly $760.00 short

So that makes it roughly $55.00 per person short. Only issue with that is how do we divide it up between those participating for one day and those for 2 days. We could say that it is $50.00 for the one day and $60.00 for the 2 day. That would equal $770.00 getting us to the financial break even point, and having what would be the minimum required number for having enough stations manned as well.

Let me know how this sounds. I will make up an email and let everyone who has registered know and see what kind of reaction we get. The only possible hitch is we would need a unanimous vote of yes or we then have to keep re-figuring the math.

Everyone stay tuned and I will see what I can do to make this work for everyone!!

Please also note that we need 3 events on the schedule to make this a Regional event. I have posted the Supp Regs on the forum for the next event. Again we have a 16 competitor requirement and there is a posted cut off Date.

$55.00 is not the amount I was using in the equation. I said to be fair to everyone it would be $50.00 more if you are running one day and $60.00 more for those running both days. I know it is only a $5.00 difference in what you just said but I wanted to clarify so that there are no misunderstandings.

I will be sending out an email to everyone closer to the cut off date to discuss such a problem if it arises. Until that point I would ask that we could all keep the "what if'" discussions to a minimum as it can clutter the thread and make relevant information harder to find.

I am not trying to "shut down" or "stifle" any ideas. I appreciate everyone's input. The "cut off" date is a week before the event to allow us to come up with "what if" scenarios to make the event a success should the need arise. If you have any ideas, comments, questions, or concerns please feel free to email me (solo@ascc.ca) and I will respond as soon as possible.

I have been posting updates on this thread to make everyone aware that the time is coming close, and that we need to start "beating bushes" to find more people. We had close to 30 people take the High Performance Driving School in May, and most said that they wanted to take part in Time Attack. I have emailed all of the people who took the course (that I had emails for) and we still have not seen much more interest. Please let anyone you know who has a Race or Time Attack License that this event is coming up.

Oh my god!....... I can't believe we're going thru this again.

My wife Dawn has taken the School, and participated in last weekends lapping day. She would like to arrange at the next lapping day to be signed off for the Time Attack. If this can be done she will be signing up for the 3 days. Please let me know.....

Jason Smith quickly responded less than 5 min. later.
Quote:
Shawn, yes we can evaluate her on Sept 1st for sign off possibility.

I am extremely confident any instructor will have no problem signing off on her.
So confident in fact. She is going to use my car!

That makes 15.
And maybe some other lappers that have participated in at least several lapping days may also be interested in this possibility but are not aware of this.

So.... Ladies?

Thanks Taylor, good to hear that we have a confirmed event, and thanks to everyone who registered. I know a lot of work has been put into organizing this weekend and that the workers are giving up their long weekend to spend those 3 days at the track making sure the event is run properly and safely. We are all volunteers here and I appreciate the support that most of you have shown to Taylor and his crew. We need to keep this fun for everyone...

Glad to see it going ahead, I plan to participate next year with a car I'd actually trust at AMP.

+1 for me. A 3400lb car with bad struts and questionable sway bars is not a good idea for AMP this year.

I'm working Friday night, probably won't be off untill really late, so it's highly unlikely that I'll be there first thing Saturday morning, I hope that won't be any issues :?

I'm scrambling at the last minute (as usual :) trying to get my car ready for the event but so far it's looking pretty good. Managed to get a muffler on the uncorked rotary so I won't be universally hated my the marshalls and anyone behind me. I've got a couple of questions though...

Will someone be on-hand Saturday from whom I can get a solosprint license? I held a race license 2 years ago but only lapped with my street car that year. Last time I completed an actual IT race was the year before (2009). I've never done solosprint before.

The link to the self tech form doesn't seem to work. Anywhere else I can find it?

I have a 4 1/2 hour tow to get to the event and I'm trying to decide whether to leave tonight or early Sat morning. I want to be on the track as early as possible as I need/want lots of practice. My understanding is that there is a school being run Sat morning, so my question is...is there lapping during the school? If not, about what time realistically will other cars be allowed on the track? Or maybe depending on the answer to my first question I'll have to be part of the school :)

Thanks
Trevor

Trevor,

You said you held a race license two years ago. When was the last time you raced or at least lapped?
I think we should be able to qualify you for a Time Attack license, but please show up as early as possible (IE before 9:30am)

There will be lapping & practice for the Time Attack tomorrow, alternating sessions with the school.
Everyone should get 20mins of lap time per hour.

That's right. I believe I took the school and did the school race in 2008 and I completed one race week-end in 2009. I renewed my license in 2010 but due to car trouble I didn't race it that year. I did participate in a lapping event that year with my RX-8 and later that year I also did a solosport event with the race car just to make sure it was running properly. I'd be willing to do the school on Saturday but I don't have a passenger seat in the race car and don't have the time to put one in before I leave.

I've had 5 people email me in the last hour saying "it's going to rain tomorrow". I'm not sure where they are getting their forecast from. More than likely they're looking at the weather for HALIFAX and not Shubenacadie and/or Stewiacke. Any vetern of AMP will tell you that if it's raining in Halifax, it's probably bright and sunny at AMP. Someone back me up on this please.....

http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/cans0143

As of 2:30pm this afternoon It's calling for 40% POP (which is 60% of SUN for those that can't do math ;) ) If it does rain (which there is a greater chance it won't) they are calling for less than 1mm of precipitation. Which is basically nothing. If it was a competition event I wouldn't even switch to rain tires for that.

Last race weekend I kept checking the forcast in Shubenacadie, calling for rain all day Sunday, and thundershowers. People were getting bad weather in Halifax, Windsor, and other areas, and we didnt even get rain at AMP. Not saying this will be the case again, but usually it is the case.

When I go to AMP I bring rain gear, sunblock, and bug dope, t-shirt, and sweater.

The same is in my marshaling gear, and my competition gear.

I never look at the forecast, I don't care. The event that I'm going to is on, and I'm going regardless.

AMP is in a lovely part of NS, and as the son of a Meteorologist, it contains scientific anomalies that cannot be explained by meer mortals.

Go, bring your gear, and have a good time!

No rain tires or even functioning winshield wipers at this point :( I'll probably take my chances on the weather anyway. BTW, still looking for the self tech form, or can I fill that out on site?

Tell me where the busted link is and I'll fix it.

PS - It's now down to 30% POP
