The Cumberland Motor Club will be returning to the former Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine on August 11 and 12 to host our 2-day Autocross (Autoslalom) event. We would like to extend an invitation out to all of our fellow auto enthusiasts over the border to attend and join in on the fun.

We have secured a group discount rate at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center http://www.caribouinn.com/ for $89/night if you want to spend the night...just let them know you are part of the Cumberland Motor Club event for the discount.

For registration info and general info about the event visit our website at www.cumberlandmotorclub.com or visit us on Facebook. Early registration is encouraged and there is a discount for early registration...sign up now, pay later.

For those that have never been to Loring, here is a video of one of our past participants driving his prepped Honda S2000, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Scd8Xn_C-8 The course was 1.4 miles long and over 2 minutes in duration...there was plenty of room for more course length but we didn't have enough cones or workers... :lol

We hope to see some of you there!

This is an awesome event, and a great venue! I would encourage everyone here who has the
time to make the trip over the border for this event, totally worth the drive!

Less than 2 weeks until the epic Cumberland Motor Club autocross at Loring. Based on pre-registrations there is a nice mix of cars (domestic and import). Should make for good competition no matter what you drive.

Our club now uses wireless timing which has proved flawless in local events this year.

We hope to see some returning participants and some new faces from your region. We are a southern Maine club and ironically, your members are closer to Loring than we are.

In addition to the new timing lights and reduced down time due to timing issues we have also worked on our planning process for this year to resolve some logistical problems.

We've been working out some bugs to ensure that we get started on time this year for starters...on time starts = more runs = happier participants. Also, we messed up last year and stranded some folks out on the course for a long period of time on Saturday due to a hasty decision that wasn't thought out well enough. It won't happen again this year. So if you were on the fence about coming due to some headaches that you experienced last year, we certainly hope that you will give it another try this year!

Hope to see you there...oh yeah, and pray for good weather!

Had some issues getting video in the morning so no video of my fastest lap :(

This is my second run in the afternoon (my ride along liked this run better than the one she got in the Boss 302

Not sure how accurate the GPS speed is; was having trouble with it most of the day. I was faster in the morning. . . before it rained.

Well I hope that if you attended our Loring event that you had a good time and enjoyed the courses. We tried to make sure that a lot of bugs were "ironed out" logistically ahead of time, but still managed to have a few arise. With the venue being so large we strived to have a challenging but somewhat open course that was still well within the margin of safety. It looks as though most people enjoyed the event so I guess it's safe to assume that we will be going back again next year...probably around the same time frame...the second weekend in August. Thanks to all that made the journey over...hope to see you next year!

P.S. I will try to do a better job in promoting your Slalom at Slemon event to our members and other North east car clubs and maybe some of us can join you next year.

I had a great time. I thought the event went extremely well too; I can see the organizers did a lot of planning and prep work and it really showed. Things always come up and you did a great job handling them. Look forward to seeing you and everyone else next year!
