A few guys from ARMS (myself and Jared Meade.. + a few outside guys) have a racing team in the game "Live For Speed". Today we are racing in Round 1 of the GT2 World Series. It is a 3-hour endurance race with minimum 2, maximum 4 drivers.
Our lineup for today will consist of - Jared Meade (kart racer and posts on ARMS on occasion) racing the first hour, and - Jonathan Bjornson (from Halifax) racing hours 2 and 3.
36 teams from 20+ countries attempted to make the race 30 teams made the cut. We start the race in 29th.... car #98 "Angry Angus Racing"
Race Review: The team initially failed to qualify for the race (31st with cutoff being 30th) but was called up to qualifying due to a withdrawal, so we tried to make the most of our unusual situation.
With neither me nor Zoltan (our usual qualifier) available for round 1, qualifying was up to Jared, and he gave it a good effort starting 29th.
The race was chaotic. Several cars created an accordion effect at the start, launching us way up the field in 17th position. Eventually Jared settled in nicely (despite a lazy roll that amazingly did not hurt the car, other than some cosmetic damage), and even had a two-lap battle with defending World Champions My3id Gaming as Tomek Nogieć was recovering from an earlier spin.
The team was getting ready to switch to Jonathan for the last two hours when we were sadly run off the road by team #11 (ironically called "World Crash League") and flipped over....... our first DNF in World Series competition.
Round 2 of the GT2 World Series is held June 2nd at the wide and fast Aston International circuit.
The full broadcast, if anyone is interested in watching! (The broadcast starts at 1:00, with a review of Mathias Wentjärvi's pole position lap)
A 6-minute video showing the moments we (well, Jared) appeared on the broadcast.
Enjoy!

I will just add that as a team we have completed a 16 Hour endurance race (myself, rej and 2 Hungarians) in which we finished 3rd in class and a 24 hour race (myself, rej, Jonathan and 3 Hungarians) in which we finished 11th in class
Note: - the FXR is FWD with a Turbocharged 2L flat 4. This one is more newbie-friendly and easy to drive because of it's front-wheel-drive, but lacks power on the straights. It is popular with new teams, but not many teams use this model because it is tight by nature, and the car's potential to be competitive seems to be rather limited because of it.
- the XRR is RWD with a Turbocharged 2L inline 4. This model is the "wild child". It is deadly down the straights, loaded with power, but is a handful to drive... particularly on a bad setup, where it can ruin tires very easily. Several teams take the gamble on this car due to it's sheer power, but on twisty tracks it can really suffer. The turbo takes some getting used to and time can be lost if a driver is unfamiliar with it. Overall not a bad option if you want to put the time in to tame this beast.
- the FZR is a RWD with an Atmo 3.6L flat 6. This model is the most popular "middle ground". It is almost as powerful as the XRR, and almost as stable as FXR, and is the only Atmo car, so it has no turbo lag. A great majority of the teams use this car, as it is the safe bet. However, the other two models have their advantages on particular tracks and this car can be beaten.
GT2 World Series 2012 - Schedule 1 -> 3 Hours of Blackwood, April 28th 2 -> 3 Hours of Aston International, June 2nd 3 -> 6 Hours of Fern Bay, July 7th 4 -> 3 Hours of Westhill International, August 4th 5 -> 3 Hours of South City, September 1st 6 -> 6 Hours of Kyoto Grand Touring Circuit, September 29th
