I think I am going to run my McLaren F1 Stealth model. I was going to run the C5 race corvette that was very successful in it's class, but I can't get the lap times quick enough.

Jason, depends on what time you are practicing I might be there.

Made some slight changes to the Red Flag procedure.

R34 TC from the DLC. 800+ hp, 1200kg, 650pp without being maxed out. I've been testing everything though, from cut down race cars to the 70 challenger, (448pp) I really liked the Challenger, 1.39's-1.40's but it mows through tires, 5-7 laps from softs....choices choices...

What tires are you guys testing on, and what is the lap time to aim for? I'm assuming this is all done in online lounges? I may go on Merlins Lounge tonight in a couple hours to screw around if anybody is up for it.

I did a 1:42.35 in the C6 RM vette. I have no idea about setup though. Anyone have any suggestions?

1:42 is the high end of the ballpark most of us are running with Racing Softs.
Most of my laps are 1:40s with the lowest being 1:38.0

What is the car doing? Oversteer? Understeer?
Your current setup is default I assume, have you made any changes?

Yea. I upped the top speed to the max and took a second off that time. The car understeers a bit. All else is default.

To cure understeer, try the following:
-add camber to the front
-add toe out to the front
-soften the front sway bar in relation to the rear

A few notes about tomorrow night:
-practice will officially begin at 7:30, however others maybe in the room earlier
-you can switch cars during practice however car switching will not be allowed during qualifying
-please exit the pits and stay to the left, do not enter the course at turn 1. Take the pit exit road which will put you out between turns 2 and 3. (I'll try and post a video if there are any questions)
-lastly it's probably a good idea to use the washroom before the race starts

This will be held on the Daytona road course I assume ?

Took a Zonda C12S '00 out for few laps to get use to a loose car and turned in a few laps at 1:42's. 8O

Funny thing is I took the corvette ZR1 (c6) RM '09 out and only managed a 1:43 ish.... :?

Hmmm...maybe time to change up the medication...something ain't right here!!

So I took out the R10 TDI race car '06 and it went 1:43 and chewed the rear tires off the car...jeeez!!

Due to the length of the race & possible randomness of pitstop sequences it's only prudent that we exit the pits properly on this course to avoid a collision at turn 1.

Here's a correct pitstop and exit at Daytona.

Notice how I do not exit out into turn 1.

That piece of pavement is very narrow so what yourself when exiting.

Anyone caught exiting directly into turn 1 will receive a 1 lap penalty.

I did a 1:41 with the Corvette ZR1 on Mediums, it's a good car to have for the race but not the best. See you all at 8:00pm.

Hmmmm...all cars that can meet the 650 PP are eligible (except the Chapparl) correct ???

I found one that I can run in the 1:38's all day or at least until the tires wear out.

So all day = 4 laps?

Close, but I got the finish above Harrod, we were passing back and forth for the last 10-15 laps, and I got him back with 3-4 laps to go.

Corrected.

So now that the race is over.... what was everyone's race strategy?

I ran on softs for the entire race, pitting every 12 laps.
I didn't take on fuel during my first two stops and then just "topped up" during my remaining stops.
Alek was the only person I was closely monitoring, he was pulling the same lap times as me (or quicker) but I managed to lap him a few minutes before the end of the race.

No real incidents, I think I went wide in the bus stop twice, and I lightly traded paint with sailor923 once but that was about it. I must say everyone drove clean and all the lapped cars I passed easily let me by without incidents.

Brian & Kevin P were at my place watching (and listening to Kevin Doubleday's commentary) which made for a very funny audio track... hehe

All in all a great race!

I had a great time. I apologize for all the paint I swapped. Someone got sideways on pit exit towards the end and I t-boned him. I just wasn't really ready for someone to be sideways there. I also used two people for brakes. Sorry about that. That incident when you took some of my paint I got into Alex right after. Just to alleviate my guilt a bit I'm gonna say they were related incidents. :)

Oh no worries man, I didn't take any damage, I just sorta came around a corner and had two cars facing the wrong way so I made a quick decision to go inside and just nicked your car. I think you were 100% stopped at the time, so any contact would have been my fault.

Thanks for holding Alek up btw...

i started strong....but then it all went wrong. I decided to run my tires one lap longer and it didnt work so well spun in 2 and ruined the rest of my tires then had to crawl around track and when i did get to the pits it spit me right through without any tires. So i turned around and went counter race and went back into the pits. ran decent for a couple more laps pitted then spun on the pit exit and took on way to much damage to try to continue. was allredy tired an didnt have the patience to continue.

Kevin sorry for the sideswipe when i exited the pits totally my f-up

It was fun at the start but i should have napped or had some more redbull to prepare myself for that

I was running hards to start the race, and was purposely staying back for a couple laps to avoid the real tight racing, knowing that I could catch up to everyone when they needed to pit. All that got tossed out the window when I just caught a bit of grass under the back drivers side wheel in the bus stop and spun. I just barely touched the inside barrier, light enough that the wheel didn't register a bump, and it fully damaged my pass. side front, so I had to pit early. Between that and the cars tendency to want to wreck anytime I was above 3/4 throttle when coming onto the banked turn on the back stretch, I really had no chance. My best lap was only a 1:40.1XX when I switched to softs for the last 10 laps or so, I wasn't fast enough to be competitive at the end anyway. I ran mediums all night, with a stint on the hards first run and a stint on the softs last run. If I didn't need to pit for damage, I was able to get 20 laps plus on the mediums, and only 11-12 on the softs at the end.

If the race time to the finish was any longer after the race was over, Harrod would have got me back, because I was running on rims and would have needed another stop!!

All in all I had a blast!! I'd gladly do another endurance race, and as I said last night, I'd love for it to be on a track with weather/time change.

Well that was hard on my head...longest race I have run....no strategy just run until I thought it was time to change tires.
I found out that my car didn't like the hard tires and my pit crew kept playing games on me and not putting fuel in my car when I did pit and hitting the pit wall twice when I exited caused me grief.
My supply of licorice ran out wayyyyyy too early and the beverage of choice was not plentifull enough for the driving stints.
All in all it was a good time and Trevor no worries just caught me off guard as it was my first of many limp back to the pits for repairs.

Hey Brian P...I didn't run into you on purpose...it's just that my Focus RS was attracted to your Mazda RX7...no!...really!! 8O

No problem, it was fun, just wished I was good enough to keep up, cause then it would have been more fun.....for me. Using a wheel, which is good, just takes time to get used to, plus only playing GT5 the odd time I get to Jason's=slow Brian P :orglaugh: Plus, I'm used to seeing the whole car when I race, and I was using the bumper cam, which is.....different. Jason "proved" it was faster because I tried it after doing a bunch of laps the other way, then switched to the bumper cam. I got a half second quicker. Howver, last night, I switched from bumper to seeing the whole car, and I got quicker. Me thinks I was just getting more used to it  ......but I dunno.

iracing was more fun for me, in the Spec Miata, that was a riot! Missed the commentary though, that part sucks. BTW Kevin, thanks for the commentary last night, singing, etc. Oh, and whomever it was that had the dog "that had to go somewhere else to do it's business", I almost told Jason that I'd offer to take the dog out for you, but then realized that that wouldn't work out.

In the end Steve P and myself were having a "knockdown-dragout, no holds barred" type of race for 3rd place...the only problem was we were competing with the concrete barriers and tire walls to see who could drive with the most amount of damage.
Steve P was better at it then me as he appeared to have unplugged his force-feedback and drove with a very bent up BMW...me on the other hand had to battle the force-feedback everywhere and it was very hard to over come. The only lucky break I got was that I managed to damage "BOTH" from wheels at the same time which allowed me to keep racing and not have to limp to the pits for repairs. :P

Man!...the sound of that 4 rotor Mazda was amazing...even though at about the 35th lap it was starting to give me a headache!

I must say I was racing around this track in my sleep! On the positive side I was able to maintain focus for most of the race and only had about 3 laps where I thought about giving it up.

Congratulations to Jason for the win...he passed me so many times I thought I was in a the wrong race...hmmm...maybe I was? :P
