I can't understand why everyone choose hard/med tires for the races the other night when you can easily get through the 20 laps on 2 sets of softs.

You're the only person that could do 10+ laps on softs.

My soft tires are gone after 2 laps, I can't even make the mediums last.

Wow, I can't get how that's even possible, sure they start to go off about 8 laps in, but even fully shagged out, the car will still do quicker laps than the medium/hards. Just have to be constantly changing what you do in the car as the tires wear, just like real life.

You've just got more skill than us Paul ;)

We believe a couple of things with the new tire model...
A)The tires must be "broken in" / "warmed up" properly NO BURNOUTS
B)Any tire that goes RED for even 1/2 a second will start to degrade at an exponential rate. EG: An OFF or a SPIN

That said with softs you can't really afford to put a tire wrong. Any spin or off that would cause the tires to go red would drastically affect your wear rate.
You can get away with it a little more with mediums and even more with hards.

I find the tires do change with their wear % and you do have to adjust your driving. I can normally keep within a second or two of new tires until they are 75% worn, then my lap times rise dramatically and it's time to pit for a fresh set.

...as you can see from the first two pictures, following Alex off the start is not easy...I had thought a fog bank had moved into the mountains just as we started!! :P
Thanks for the picture Alex.

PS. Alex this could be why your tires only last a short while! :P :P

I just started a new pain med from the rotation, so we'll see how that affects the lap times   We'll see if I can get another win under the belt of the old tin. Even with Varga missing a race night, who'd a thought that me Kevin and Varga would be in this tight of a race for a podium finish in the Championship points! I'm kinda pumped!

Just finished inverting my pedals...what a difference, now they work just like the real cars and I installed the "realistic" brake mod to get some resistance in the pedal...much better feeling.

I will be on the track this afternoon until about 3pm...come on out and have some fun!! 8)

I wouldn't be doing burnouts if it affected my race. I have gremlins in my front tires that needs to be sorted out with some clever driving.

Some great racing last night.
It was awesome to see Kevin & Harrod up front leading for multiple laps, and even for Alek to destroy Varga and I on Deep Forest, he was just too quick!

Good catch....

For some reason it pulled Trevor's points last night for you.
Sheet has been updated to reflect your 20pts from last night.

Hmmm...lets keep working on this...I may yet get 1st place !! :? :P

I watched the first race again and couldn't help but notice that Alex and Varga both were the last ones thru corner one but ended up 1 & 2 for the race.
I lead the race until I pitted for tires ( OK Jason S passed me for a moment before deciding to inspect the grass on the side of the track)...then I got behind Alex just before he decided to jump to warp speed and was thrown off by the warp bubble bursting directly in front of my car causing a loss in down force!! :P
Varga hunted me down like a dog and marked his territory as he was going by and Jason S was catching me due to my tires wearing out at an accelerated pace...hmmm...may have been my driving. He caught me at the last corner before the straight and our race to the finish line was cut short by the timer running out on us.

The second race just SUCKED for me as I had to pit twice in a row to get one set of tires, that didn't work as good as the first set I had...major bummer dude!! :(

And the last bunch of shuffle races were starting to effect my brain...or it may have been the impacts from McIntyres car as he decided to see what it would take to beat the body panels off the Jaguar I was driving. :P

..."just saying"...it was a good night of racing!! :D

...you a funny guy Kevin :D The truth is that I practiced on Deep Forest the day before the race for an hour setting up my car. I think I could have had a 1:10 or a 1:09 lap time before the race with soft tires, but people were crashing into me. Then I changed my tires to mediums because didn't want to race on softs. Then just before the race started, I exited and joined in again to start from first place ;) It didn't matter because I got a penalty at the start because the race started before the countdown and I did not press the brake pedal. Then Laguna Seca was business as usual :(

This is only the second time I won a race since playing with you guys online, the other one was with the Scuderia at Nurburgring. It feels good when everything comes together.

I ran softs for both of the last 2 races. Was able to get 10 laps out of a set, only had to pit stop once per race. The last 2 laps before pitting I had to back off a bit. I still can't keep up with Jason and Varga when they're on mediums.

BTW the forum upgrade ruined our "table" mode... which is why the results are almost impossible to read.

Scott said he's working on getting the mod back soon.
