I used Scott, and I think Scott used Paul.
We should try to spread it around.... $15 is a car and/or track!

Thanks for the referral Jon!
I think I'm going to buy a Mustang with it!

So Paul, Tim, McIntyre, and myself all have had referrals.

Brian Gay, Jon LS and Gord I don't think have received any yet.

When are we starting a race night?

I say we use all the defualt cars/tracks as we go, so Miata at Laguna one night, Legends at Lime Rock, Street Stock at Oxford, etc.
Switch between oval and road courses.

There will be a practice, qualifying, and race.

I don't know if it's my OCD, but ever since I joined iRacing I can't stop paying it every free moment. In the 5 weeks I've been a member, I've put in close to 3000 official laps and likely just as many practice / test laps as well. 8O

Looking forward to a hosted "ARMS" tournament. It'll be fun to race with people we know.

I haven't had a chance to touch it since Saturday. Still need to be able to do a lap without pointing the wrong way before I'm ready to hop on the track with others. :)

Nah, no reason why a person can't do both. Just have less time to practice beforehand. But honestly, I think my time spent in iRacing has made me a better GT5 driver.

Brad Sellars is now in iRacing as well, he picked up a used G27 and Playseat from someone here online.

People can look for him under the name: Brad Sellars2

Thanks Kevin for the sponsor!

I essentially haven't touched the Talon since it blew the turbo early last September. It's been sitting on jack stands since.

Spent about two frustrating hours last night doing timetrials. Not sure if my steering just isn't dialed in right or what but even doing 6/10ths I'm finding it really hard to keep things clean. Really having trouble adapting to the sense of momentum.

It more than just speed. It's also about steering / brake / throttle application, even at lower speeds.

I struggled a lot in the beginning (and still do with each new car / track I try), but it'll come in time. Just keep churning out those laps!

That's the thing, I know this is supposed to be more realistic, but either my perception of speed is way off or those cars spin/understeer at WAY lower speeds than even the most aggressively setup car on sh!t tires. Things did get better when I twaked the steering to be be a wider range and a bit less binary, but this ends up feeling like I'm trying to learn a game, not a car.

I found perception of speed is a big part of the problem. The physics could be 100% accurate but you don't sense you're going that fast without the real life seat-of-pants feel, hence don't know where the limits of adhesion are.

The only physical feedback you get is through the force-feedback of the wheel, so you need to learn to associate what each sensation means. That can only come with time & experience (i.e lots of laps).

...it's a bummer when your middle ear is not allowed to give you the feel of balance and the lack of G forces won't allow your body to sense the cars behavior...

Part of the reason I purchased the Thrustmaster wheel/pedal/shifter system was that almost all of the "Feel" of the car comes thru these components and I wanted to get the most accurate I could. The triple monitors give you a bit of extra vision and sense of rotation that you can interpret as speed.

now if I can just get as good as the equipment I'm using....OK...I suck at the moment but I will get better...I think! :? :P

Scott...take a break and get back to the Talon...don't want to be making excuses this season...just making new FTD's would be better!

To fix it properly, I need to rebuild the engine (it's worn out; lots of blow-by), and buy a new turbo. I don't have the money, especially since we're planning to build a house this Spring / Summer. So the car might not make it out next season.

I do still have BIG plans for the car, it just might not happen until after it takes residence in a nice new spacious garage. 8)
