Ok so the game plan will be this:

I'm going to change my Lounge settings when I get home tonight.
Once changed I'll join the room, if there is anyone else in there we'll all exit (including myself) and then rejoin back so the new settings take effect.

So right now we have 3 people, more would be better....

Congratulations!

McIntyre should reach 4000 in 86 days @ 1.10 posts per day
I'm on track for 4000 in 133 days. @ 1.56 posts per day

.... and no one will ever catch Gord already over 6000 and pulling away by doing 1.84 post per day.

Thanks to everyone who came out to test.
I don't think we proved much, but it looks like the Race Quality setting has no effect on grip levels, however the amount of people in the room may have an effect.

Nothing was proven tonight, if anything more questions than answers.

My bandwidth was "Very High" when I first logged in, but after my 3-4 disconnects I checked it again and it was "unknown"... weird.

I've reset my Lounge setting to STANDARD for tomorrow night and we will proceed as normal.

I think the practice went good, up until my headset went to crap!! I'm thinking that it's just a car with a few touchy setup. I went from not being able to take a turn to making 1:27's at Laguna Seca. I'm looking forward to tonight to see if the crowd has something to do with it.
I got booted 4 times last night when I've never been booted before, so I'm thinking I don't have the internet speed to stay in a room with the setting at max.

Yeah, I'm kinda worried about the power staying on here tonight, but if it does, I'll be there! 110kph winds are gonna make it interesting anyway!!

As I said last night, the car is now competitive, now I just have to get the driver there!! Everyone's car is very even I find, but the slightest mistake can bite you, and last night I made lots of slight mistakes! I found the Miata much more forgiving, but it took me the whole series to get the car as fast as the front runners.

I did tune the car on sport softs, and it made the world of difference. I don't have a tuning handbook, haha, so it was all trial and error, just feeling out what the car liked and didn't like. Now I just have to work on my tire management!!

I find that once you spin a time or two, the tires go all to sh!t and there's no coming back. :(

At the same time Paul dropped from Laguna last night I had my own "blackout".

I watched the replay and it looks like the car went straight across the sand/grass and then spun.

I came back and the car was 180 facing the wrong way.
Put my 30 seconds behind, and last place, but I managed to fight my way back to 4th thanks to our longer races.

You're right tire management is a big thing, and spinning or especially going off takes a lot of tire life..... if I wasn't catching Trevor, Kevin etc so fast I would have pitted for fresh tires on lap 8.

As for getting dropped, here's what works for me....
    1. Completely shutdown any internet enabled devices in the household (i.e. PC's / laptops / etc.)
    2. Fire up the PS3 and load GT5
    3. In the GT5 options menu, clear system cache.
    4. Jump into the Lounge.

Never get dropped or booted.

Probably helps to have a wired internet connection to the PS3, but that's not possible for everyone.

Not sure if I was losing a connection or not, but in both races, I had made a mistake then got slammed into next week immediatly afterwards, it was like nobody saw me and just smashed me off track without even slowing at all.

I know Craig was disappearing and reappearing all over the track, from one side to the other at random. 8O

I think saw what happened in the Nürburgring race, you went off track and when you came back on the car that hit you didn't see you and/or had no place to go. I'll have to watch the replay again.

At Laguna, I'm not sure you were racing the wrong way when I came around the turn after the Cork Screw... and as soon as I saw you my screen froze for about 3 seconds.

Yea, even with just Varga, Steve, and myself Craig was still "teleporting".

Actually we had a weird thing happen twice when it was just the 4 of us.... one car would be following VERY closely to another on the main straight and then suddenly the lead car would jump from like 150kph to +300kph like it was SLAMMED from behind, and take major rear end damage.

There was NO WAY the car traveling behind could have hit the car in front to do anything more than just rub paint. The speed difference wasn't enough.

That was just Varga hitting his KERS button.
