We're going to try to wrap up the final events in the Spec M3 Coupe Series so we can move onto the SuperGT series starting on or about Feb 12/13

Saturday Feb 5th - 8pm in MerlinRPM's Lounge - Spec M3 Coupe Series
Monday Feb 7th - 8:30pm in MerlinRPM's Lounge - Spec M3 Coupe Series
Thursday Feb 10th - 7pm in MerlinRPM's Lounge - Spec M3 Coupe Series

This Saturday we'll be running:
-Autumn Ring
-Madrid
-Special Stage Route 5

We may need to rerun events due to disconnects however if we have time the bonus (4th) race will be:
-Indy Roadcourse

Open to suggestions for tracks for the last few days... I'd like to do at least one weather one, a time change one, and lean more on real life tracks.

My PSN ID is s3th10u5. Sorry about the obscure ID but my stepson created an online account under my user when I wasn't around. What's yours Jason?

What's the split between steering wheels and controllers? I'm still a controller guy and I'm finding this game next to impossible to control in situations where partial throttle is called for. I've tried all kinds of suspension changes to try and tame the rear end but what it comes down to is I'm constantly mashing and unmashing the throttle and upsetting the car. Anybody have any tips for standard controller usage. Other than using the big buttons on the top of the controller.

I need to break down and get a wheel.

Okay Guys...I finally received my Fanatec Porsche 911 GT3 steering wheel and Clubsport Pedals. I'll install them tonight on my PlaySeat, then figure out how to get on the Playstation Network.

:D

You can really see the difference with guys on controllers, just so out of control, especially in long radius corners.
I don't know how you do it really.

No way! The points leader? Impressive!

If I were to guess, I'd say 50% - 60% have wheel controllers.

Agreed.

Mental note: Pick more tracks with long radius corners to beat Joel.

I'll try to make it tonight...I've never played Grand Turismo, so I'm slowly figuring out the whole intent of GT.

I've only done a few races...I think I have my first two levels of GT. I have a MR2 and a bit of cash. If I can jump in on the race this evening, let me know. Otherwise, I guess I'll have to burn through some races and save some money.

Jay, tell you what.... I'll buy you an M3. 8)

There is a stock one you can use, but you won't be able to customize the suspension or transmission.

EDIT: Just sent the car to you.... enjoy!

Thanks guys...that was fun, last night. Thanks to Jason for making it possible for me to join the session.

Speaking of which...Jason: do you want your beat-up pink M3 returned to you? From what I gather, you guys seem to be using these...so I should prep one...unless there's another car you guys use more frequently. Any suggestions on anything would be appreciated.

I'll be purchasing a bluetooth headset...seems to be very useful.

Cheers,

Jay, I believe we'll be using the M3's exclusively for a few more sessions, then move on to SuperGT cars. Find the list at the end of this thread. Just pick one without a name assigned to it.

Regarding headsets... I have the Sony Bluetooth Headset and it works great. However, if others in your household don't appreciate the sound of cars roaring through the evening, you might consider a set of headphones with an integrated mic. I just got a Logitech F540 Wireless Headset (just for that reason) and absolutely love it!

Wow... lots of action in last nights racing.

Paul are Varga both scored 99 points last night in the races. This is the second time Paul has scored 99 points in an evening. No one yet has cracked the 100 point barrier, but with a total of 120 points max per evening, it is possible.

Also, up until last night I was the only person to have always qualified in the top 3. Varga proved that practice makes a big difference, and knocked me back into 4th for all the races.

I want Joel's car tested for steroids or Launch Control, no one leaves the line like Joel!

Varga walked away with an easy victory at Madird, no one could touch him.

That's the problem... the wipers are on...

I'll update the points later tonight.

Good lord, I hope you all are planning to put this level of focus and interest into real cars this year. :D

While the "fun factor" isn't nearly as high as the real thing there's a lot of benefits...
-no cones to setup/pickup etc
-no long commute to the event
-car to car communication makes it very interesting
-MUCH cheaper (PS3 + GT5 + Wheel + Bluetooth < new tires)
-any damage is repaired after each race, automatically and for free
-any car maintenance is done with button clicks rather then scrapped knuckles!

Besides you know if you had a PS3 you'd be playing too.... 8)

I had a blast!!

Thats probably why I did well...I just got into it...

I am wondering if there may be ppl that willl need cars supplied for the Super GT races?

I am willing to supply two cars (one maybe Alex).
Just need to know what to purchase and who to befriend to transfer in time for the event.

ANother thing....what are the lap counts for the tracks to be run on monday, especially the short ones (London, Tsukuba)?

Thank you Jason for organizing these events both virtual and real (summers)

The really short tracks we may run 5-10 laps.

I've had a few requests to push the start time back to 8pm-8:30 tonight so a few people can make it. If that's ok with most we'll do that.
