NBSCC is planning a road trip!

Thanks to Louiz in the Golf R who you all met in Long Wharf and Digby we are going to put on an event at the beautiful KCI Irving Regional centre on Jul 23 and 24th

We will be having a Autoslalom school on Saturday and a fun club event on Sunday for what we hope to be a new budding ASN Canada car club in the North Shore.

Schedule is TBA as it still depends on a few things that we may be trying (for instance a 300' skidpad in the lower parking lot and a school course in the North lot Saturday, a car show in the roadside lot, and a simple to follow course in the North parking lot Sunday early enough that folks can get an early start on the drive home)
BTW note that when we were considering this date we pretty much figured that nobody from NS was going to be making the trip and as such wouldn't take away from the Lookoff Rally, but hey if somebody not involved in the rally says Hmmm I've always wanted to visit Bathurst, now's your chance!

Also feel free to join the Nepisiquit Sporting Car Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1740818209519453/ faceboook page to help us bring this fledgling club hopefully into the ARMS fold in a few years.

Is the dark area to the top left all usable asphalt?

I'll be going for sure I live here :). I've been going down to Moncton, and actually going tomorrow, a few times per year to Autocross. Makes it a bit hard on week days but it's too much fun not to :).

Also, unfortunately, that dark section is all gravel. It would make for a pretty nice rallycross though hehehe.

Damn, that would've been nice back then when I had a vehicle to compete in.(3 years ago) hehe
Otherwise I would've been to the rendezvous.

It's a gravel surface if I remember correctly. It's where the Campbell Amusement Circus usually takes place when they're in Bathurst.

It's being readied for pavement but hasn't been paved yet. The usable lots are the ones wth the lines parking spaces... Btw note that the two lots on the left could probably be connected if the definition of the 8M of runoff room included the gravel shoulder? ...but even with the loaner pylons from MMSC (thanks guys!) we probably wouldn't have enough cones to go around

I'm also working on getting my company discount hotel rate at the really nice Lakeview Inn and Suites so stat tuned for that too...

Looking for instructors (like you Dustin and Mike) for the event which is being kept low keyed and fun so yes, you can compete and also do ride alongs

Kevin and Martin, get the word out! However also let everybody know that there will a solid police presence (and maybe even an entered cruiser) at the event as we don't need any hoonin goin on to spoil it for all...

Note that while we are a Sant John club only ...our name NEW BRUNSWICK Sports Car Club inc and some member connections to the area is what has brought us to this point but it's going to take Region and the local keeners help keep the momentum up for the future. However with the need we have seen in the area for something different than drags at Miramichi we are expecting big things :D

Gravel should be ok for run-off
Aren't the shale in Digby and the grass in Slemon considered runoff? :orglaugh:

Also, this is the first thing that came up on Google when I searched for Bathurst :orglaugh:

I'm definitely interested in getting some input from the passenger seat, I know I've developed bad habits from racing a truck for a so long. I'm 90% sure I'm in for this event!

I'm still trying to hammer out a good rate for the Lakeview Inn and Suites for out of town people as it's a very well run, clean, friendly place that my truck drivers stay at all the time

Image

I'll link up the contact info and price when they get back to me to see if they can match my corporate rate

Am I driving the MMSC van to Bathurst? There's a ton of pylons in the MMSC van. If you use up all the pylons in the MMSC van, you're doing something wrong.

Having the MMSC van there would be fantastic (and look very, very professional), but that’s quite a trip for the old girl and the poor driver that has to get her up there...

Image

...additionally having a long course connecting the two parking lots is great and all, but I’d be worried that we could get a bunch of new people lost if it got to big?

Thanks
Stacy

I've driven the MMSC van to AMP a couple of times. Also driven it to and from Slemon as well. It's not a fun trip, but I've done it. There's everything in the van to run the event. Pylons, barricades, flagging, loaner helmets, chalk, lumber crayons, extinguishers, brooms, magnetic numbers, oil dry, PA system, FOD Boss...

Nothing wrong with a long course as long as it's easy to follow. If you try packing elements too close to each other, then you start using more pylons and/or it starts getting confusing. Keep it simple. Leave lots of open space. Do those and you might be inclined to link the 2 lots.

Good point, I'll see if I can get somebody to take a measurement of the two lane road width to see if it will work as I didn't pay particular attention to it when I did a site visit last week...

Ming, you're welcome to co-drive my car if you end up taking the van.

Here's a picture of the crossover road looking in, nothing to hit ...but again the definition of runoff room is open to interpretation?
Definitely some sort of slowing technique followed with a straight accelerating shot through is required if we use it

BTW I'll be in Moncton today picking up that B2 coupe ...and can pick up some cones from the MMSC van if that works out better for next weekends event?

Meanwhile a truck full of NBSCC's club equipment is already on it's way today to the KCI centre, Wade has secured enough sponsorship to pay for some local radio station ads this week, McDonalds is advertising it on their LED sign, and interest is building! :D

Looks safer than the upper & lower lot connector that we've used many times at Magic Mountain.

has agreed to pass my corporate rate of $--/night to any car club members that wish to book a Suite next Friday and Saturday night

Just mention that you want the ----- - ----- rate ...and (very important  ) pay for it yourself!

Not sure if you guys are all set with instructors or if you need more but I could probably help out saturday for some time if you need it. I've been around this for a few years now I should be able to give a few pointers  . I'll be camping up there and have a wedding sat @ 6 but I'm free otherwise. Just won't have the car with me.
