We are the proud new owners of a 2016 GTI. Should be an interesting car for GS. Looking forward to hopefully getting to a bunch more local and regional events this year as well as the national championships.

Any other new cars for this season? Been awefully quiet lately.

It seems to me that it'll be a good/interesting season with some new cars/competitors out. Forum is just quiet because of the popularity of Facebook and the lack of "moderators" there.

Congrats on the new car!

Yes we got PP, I couldn't see not getting it. Biggest temptation is to avoid a retune for every day driving! 300hp/350lbft for $650

Even Facebook seems to be underutilized by ASCC and ARMS. There is no homebase and it is spread over a number of different local forums. We need to drive traffic and new members to the groups.

Right on about social media. We need to get our act together.

No tunes for me until warranty is gone (But it is tempting!)

It would seem so natural given the number of young internet savvy members we have acquired lately. I'm sure we could generate a pretty good presence with their guidance.

So that makes 3 mk7 GTI's with PP around town. Did ASCC members buy every one to come to atlantic canada?

regarding the social media sidenote, facebook is definitely, very heavily under-utilized. Check out BAC's FB page. 200+ 'likes' (in under a years time since it started) and it regularly has new content and active discussions. participation in rallycross has jumped from 10-20 participant to 35-65 in the span of a year. ASCC needs to promote everything through facebook and try to link-up with enthusiast groups (a la BAC + Lowmotion) to help get some better reach. It's a no brainer

Yup 3 of us now! Ours had to be brought down from Ontario. We didn't want a dark colour and 3 door with leather were scarce as well. Very happy with it, wheels and tires are on order. Permission has been granted for weekend use lol

So who holds the keys to the ASCC and arms fb groups? Now would be the time to start the promoting.

Looks like Brian J for ASCC. I probably won't be free for the next ASCC meeting but i can volunteer to be one of the next admins, but there would need to be more discussion about it and how the page is setup.

Sorry to thread jack!

I've had some ideas about the ASCC FB page brewing for awhile but I realized I never got around to testing them like I said I would at the meetings  . Really I was just going to ripoff how BAC does it as an organization page instead of a group page.

Also testing a few things for yet another FB group, but concentrated on slalom/HPDE/etc. Basically like Rallyeast.

That's exactly what I was going to bring up. The 'group' style only works as a forum, where any approved/invited member can freely post. We already have this forum for that purpose. It really needs to be a 'page' where topics are admin posted, and can be freely commented and shared by anybody. Unfortunately that means deleting the old group and staying from scratch, as I did with BAC. It's a band-aid that needs to be ripped off. That's my thoughts!

No worries on the thread jack. One purpose was to show off my new beast, the other was to get some chatter going and start hyping the season up. Need to shake off the winter blahs.

I really think we need to minimize confusion for information hunters. If we use the arms title then we can include events from the whole region. Whereas if it is ASCC, then you only concentrate on club stuff. Prime example is Zack, the young guy I have working for me. He is brand new to all this and is trying to plan his summer schedule. He sees an ASCC solo schedule and figures those are the only events. Then he sees an arms schedule and he realizes there is so much more going on. It is intuitive for the veterans to find dates usually but for new people it is a bit of work. Top that off with trying to verbally tell someone where to find links to info on schools and events. One big clearing house like a fb page that is constantly updated and shared by the members and you will have that problem solved.

Nate, Brent and myself are the admins. If more admins will possibly make it work better we could work on that. Possibly an admin from each club so they can post club events.

I just looked and the ARMS page has 400 likes.

It's a great idea, with some thought and input it should be easy to get running.

IMHO It would be ideal for the ARMS page to share the event that the organizer creates on their page - that would keep the communication going in the right direction. As an example currently, the ASCC HPDS isn't on their page, and we have a copy/paste wall of text forum repost up on the ARMS FB page. It's a start, but we can do much better.

Edit - I'll look into it with Nate and see if we can improve our Facebook Foo - this should be a no brainer. Need to get my head around events, calendars and Facebook.
