That sounds like a lot of fun, I'll be in for this.

The 'Ring with Nascar, Aussie V8, ruf AWD will be a complete gong show, in a good way.

Proposed schedule for upcoming season. Question, comments and concerns always welcome.

One division for the old IRL Dallara with fixed setups (likely the medium downforce everywhere but Monza?)

And the One-Ring-to-Rule-Them-All division where the track remains the same but the cars progressively get meaner. We've grouped several cars of similar speeds on the same event so most people should find one they own (or want to own). Admittedly the Lotii aren't that similar but they’re both too good to ignore. We might have to adjust the start times a few minutes either side of traditional due to the vagaries of session times given the lap length.

Jan 5 Ring MX5, Solstice, Jetta, SRF

Jan 12 IRL Leguna

Jan 19 Ring GT3s

Jan 26 IRL Silverstone

As an aside, we should probably discuss the fixed setup for the Indycar in advanced of the races, because some tracks require more downforce than the medium provides. That said, we could keep it at medium if we want a little extra challenge!

So far so good.

Yeah, we'll probably make a call on which iracing setup to use for the Indycar race once we've had chance do a few practice laps the week leading up to it.

Are you guys talking about the old Ford Falcon or the updated one. If the updated one, can we use the other supercar?

Not sure which one they are driving, but we'll likely run both versions of the Falcon for the race (the older V8 Supercar and the newer FG V8). You only have to own the one you are driving.

I think Brian might be referring to the Holden Commodore V8 Supercar which is also in the service.

Correct me if I am wrong Brian, but it would be good to have them all in there.

Forgot about the Holden. Will put the Holden in that group and likely move the RUF AWD to the GT1 group.

Another question, when you say NASCAR Impala 2011, 2013 are you referring to circa 2013 or the latest one that came out after 2013?

Brian, there are 2 Impalas before the current version:
NASCAR Nationwide Chevrolet Impala circa 2011
NASCAR Sprint Cup Chevrolet Impala COT circa 2013
We'll be using both of these since they are available to everyone. We are limited to 5 cars per session so we won't be able to fit the latest version (NASCAR K&N Pro Chevrolet Impala) with the 2 Falcons and the Holden.

Let us know if there is anything else that isn't clear.

Hangover challenge.

Been kicking around have a race on New Years day, middle of the afternoon (2:30-3:00 race start), 1 hour long. Laguna Seca, either the slower cars (Jetta, MX5, etc) or something a little louder, like the street stock.

I'm hoping to jump in today. I've got some visiting to do, so I'm a bit unsure if i'll be back in time.

Don't forget that we start beating up the barriers around the Nordschleife tonight. :D Note that we start qualifying a little earlier for the ring events: 8:10-8:30. Practice starts at 6:50. Qual for second race is 9:05-9:25. Both races 20 minutes.

If I can make it tonight I should be able to get two laps in that allotted time on that (long) course, Ha!...

Congrats to John and Brian on the wins. Great to see attendance pick up again and some "old" Regulars on track again plus a couple new faces.

Uploaded the results to:
http://www.danlisa.com/scoring/season_s ... on_id=4985

Not sure what happened with qualifying for the second race. I would have thought that if there were people still on a valid lap that hadn't taken the flag it would have left the session open. But maybe it saw no one had put in a qualifying lap yet so it ended the session. Will push race 2 qualifying ahead 5 minutes and with the faster laptimes next race we should get chance to qualify for the second race.

I had a great time. Was surprised that there was still racing going on after the first lap. Rick chased me for the first 1.5 laps in race 1, and John and I had a great scrap for about 2.5 laps in race 2. I don't know all the corners yet, but I'm learning where a few of the important ones are (ie the ones that lead to the flat out sections. Though with the faster cars some of those sections won't be flat out anymore.). That stretch between the carousels is still a mystery. But following John around in race 2 managed to shave 15s from my PB.

IRL next week at Laguna Seca (medium downforce setup).

First time out running with you guys last night. Brian turned me on to iRacing and sent me over here. had fun and learned some stuff. Thanks for not laughing me off the track. I'm pretty new but getting steadily better. I don't have all the tracks/cars on the schedule but i'll jump in when i have the right combo and may spectate when i don't if that's possible.

I've got a couple of newb questions.

First, can i use the freebie "Indycar Dallara circa 2011" for the IRL races?
Second, How do i convince my wife to let me build a dedicated triple monitor racing rig in my living room?

Thanks again

Dave.

Glad you could join in David.

Yes. That is the only car you can use for the IRL series. Setups are fixed (use the medium downforce road setup if you are practicing for Laguna).

Start talking about going racing at AMP and looking at ads for race cars, and maybe get Brian to show her what it costs to go racing for a season.

Welcome David!

In the second race I was puttering along with my blown engine leaving a huge smoke screen in my wake thinking, I wonder if it'd be faster to just get a tow....?

I noticed David on my Relative screen and he appeared to be traveling at the same speed as the gap between us remained relatively constant. I figured he had a blown engine too, but it turns out he was actually getting towed and my pace was matching that of the tow truck. lol

Then I missed the pit entrance, tried to back up on the track to get into the pits, and promptly got disqualified for reckless driving. So I rage quit.

Despite my poor race performance it was a fun evening. I really love the Nordschleife. Looking forward to running it more.

Indy Laguna results can be found at http://www.danlisa.com/scoring/season_s ... on_id=5009

Congrats to Paul and Scott on the wins.

Great to see the driver count back up, though it seemed a little crowded in T1 at the start of each race. ;-) Art and I were responsible for starting the race 1 T1 shenanigans as I went under him when he went wide at the first apex, but we both went for the second apex. The second race I'm not sure what happened as I went around the outside and there were cars crashing in front and then there were cars running into me. Luckily these old indycars are fairly tough. Though I'd recommend a little more caution at the starts in the upcoming races.

Think I was near last by the time I rejoined the track at the start of race 1. Had a good scrap with Randy, though I gave him a bump in T1 once before I figured out where he was braking (sorry Randy!). After that had fun running with Jeff and John. Near the end John and I caught up to Jay, and then next thing I know they get together in T2 and gift me 3rd.

After the race 2 T1 dust settled I thought everyone had gone through, but ended up running into John (Sorry John!) while rejoining the track. Later on had a good scrap with Jeff. Managed to get by, only to hand it back to him by losing the backend in T1. Caught up to him again, only to lose it in T2 getting on the throttle. Was good entertainment though.

GT3s at the Ring next week. Then Indycars at Silverstone GP.

Great track, great car...great combo. I was surprised at my pace during practice...initially during the session I had the fastest lap, but it didn't last. My quali lap was mediocre...starting 5th.

During the first race, I had a good start and ran third for most of the race. Towards the end, someone turned into me in turn 2 and I ended up 5th.

The second race start was a sh!t show. Someone got into the back of me into turn 1...pushing me into Ryan. I think I ended up 6th.

I like the car and the fixed setup. The tire model is pretty good now. The tire grip start to go off during the race...and when you go off track.

Speaking of wrecks... Here is a snippet from the 15S4 release notes that may be handy:

Quote:
Keyboard Macros

- Added a #fr fast repair macro, to check the fast repair box.

What you do is map the macro to a keyboard or wheel button Then you can turn on fast repairs with the push of a button instead of fumbling through the black boxes as you're driving.

You map it via the Auto Text Chat section of the OPTIONS menu. For example:

Hahaha, it's totally okay dude. It's a fun racing series, and I don't mind if it gets crazy sometimes. And believe me, the start of R2 was nothing if not hilarious.

Ring GT3 results posted

Congrats to Paul and Brian on the wins last night. I'm still trying to figure out how we started the 4th lap in a 20 minute session when the leaders were doing ~7 minute laps (7x3 is still 21 isn't it?).

Forgot we start the ring event a little early and showed up with qualifying already started (good thing I set up the server for this one). Good time to take a new car out for a spin (literally). For whatever reason was placed near the front of the non qualifiers which was not where I wanted to be. Didn't have to worry about it to long as the first run into that awkward chicane type section most of the field went by me. After that just picked off spots as they crashed or ran out of fuel. Though I gave Brian and Art a spot back by spinning in T1.

Second race I don't think anyone qualified however this week it didn't seem to boot everyone when the flag came out at the end of qaulifying (it let Art and I finish our laps even when they weren't inc free). And somehow I got placed near the front again (I wonder if it's just random or does it use irating or something to set grid order?). Again didn't have to wait long as put a couple wheels off through fugplatz so just stayed off to the side while the field filed past. However this time I got a lot of those spots back when that chicane complex turned into a parking lot. Towards the end Art and John caught up to me which made the last lap a lot of fun. I seemed to be slow in a straight line (lost about 3-4 s on the back straight) but the RUF was good in the twisty stuff (Suzuka setup with the ring wing set a little higher).

Indycars at Silverstone GP next week. Then GT1 cars , the Caddy, and the (non GT3) Ford GT at the ring (we're using this set of cars for the next two ring events).

Man did Trevor ever make me work for it last night on the last lap, probably one of the most intense longest laps ever as I watched him slowly pick away at my lead. I did brush the wall from staring at the F3 screen too much as Trevor got closer and closer. We actually swapped leads once or twice on the last lap, each of us ready to pounce on the others slight mistake and Trevor doesn't make many that's for sure.

In the second session I was out on a clean lap for qualifying but it kicked me out. I figured for sure it would let me finish the lap since Ken and Art were able to finish their laps from the first session. The random qualifying spot was better on the second race then the first for me!

For the GT1 cars coming up, are we talking about Aston & Corvette as GT1 cars as well???
