Anybody from HRM headed up Friday night/ Saturday morning? I might be looking to share some gas cost as I can't get Friday off work, and Meg is headed up that morn.
I don't have a co-driver. Not sure if a Celica is more similar though. It's GS not HS, but still street. Don't see Dustin registered yet. He should register, can change the car/class later.
and it's FWD and it's red, so basically the same as your fiesta, Meg!
So I registered for this in the Fiesta, but my hopes are quickly dropping as we still have yet to hear from the dealership.... as a backup, I suppose this is my cry for help wondering if anyone has a vehicle more similar to the Fiesta than the Fusion (aka something in HS that is standard not auto.......?? Also, I guess this is a heads up to the organizing committee that Dustin and I may be in a different car
Also, I'm in for the convoy!
race the fusion meg, nothing is faster than a rental car.

I dramaticly beg to differ. As showcased by my results at the last ASCC event. And in my not so humble opinion, that thing is far from worthy of being called a car... More of a land yacht... Although it's apparnetly faster than me in an FR-S with bad tires...

A bunch of us were over marking the course for Slemon on the weekend. Looks interesting.
Wishing all a safe and exciting weekend...Deb and I had to miss this year for a variety of family health and hospice issues that culminated last weekend and "geez, could this place I work for get any crappier in its management..."...(yes, it seems)
Anyway, may Shawn in a GS and Charles in STX take spots in Top Ten Pax, Ray have a relaxing weekend just kickin' butt in the S2000, George have a mechanical-issue free weekend, Ming and the other Chiefs enjoy at least a 10 minute period at some point of no-questions from anyone about anything and everyone just have a great autoslalom weekend with good food, friends, weather and speed.
Don't forget to hydrate if it's sunny! (No heat-stroke incident stories...)
And to all my fellow autoX drivers: Look ahead - Take chances.
And Pictures, Pictures, Pictures!!!!!

The term Land Yacht does not count for a fusion. Its shall stay reserved for the Mercury Marauder, and my old Caprice Classic. lol.
Good luck to evenyone in PEI this weekend.

Agreed. Try slaloming a '79 Dodge Diplomat. 2 door mind you, but sails may have helped me in that land yacht.

Tyson, that's a tugboat iirc. Lol
Are results official yet?
The course designs were fantastic this weekend. Seemed like an appropriate mix of fast and slow elements. We usually don't get to see enough fast sections for the pax to be accurate imo
Haha, thanks Scott. Looks like Justin and I are posing for the photo!
Your car looked really good this weekend, get some good r-comps on that thing and it will be dangerous!
Thanks to all the organizers and volunteers, I know how much effort it takes to put on an event like this and it ran really smooth each day.
Day 1 was definitely my favorite. It had by far the best start to any slalom this year, it got you into a rythm right away. The course flowed and drove a lot better than what I thought it was going to after I walked it. Nice mix of risk and reward elements that you had to get right to make the next sections fast. My 6 runs I got definitely helped too! Day 2 I found was a course you had to be very patient with, some sections just didn't work as well for me going backwards, the start was also interesting as my power steering was on its way out by that point...
Thanks to George for letting me take the Focus for a fun run, that car is awesome! I also enjoyed the music...

Great weekend at Slemon despite our blown power steering hose. The event ran well and I agree with Ben, Day 1 was my favorite, the reverse not so much. Many thanks to Ralf and Nick for loaning their cars for our last runs.
Thanks again to the organizers, the event ran very well. Enough time in the T&T that anyone could have done 20-30 runs if they hated their tires that much. I love the grid setup, there is a clear indication of when you need to get in your car and get to the line. Need to find a way to work that into future Digby events.
And the slowdown box was a great idea. Much easier on brakes (and tires if you lack ABS) at the end of a run.

Agreed. Day 1 was easily the best Slemon course I've been to. Going in I thought it was going to be boring and tight, but it actually flowed well and like Ben said there were areas you wanted to sacrifice to get other stuff right. Having no "hairpin into hairpin into hairpin" like past courses made it better, and opening up the entries to some of the "U" sections so you could avoid braking at the right entry angle worked well. It really shows that a course doesn't need to be "long" to be fun.
Day 2 I didn't enjoy as much, but that was mostly because of the start. Too tight and too many cones to take any risks there. Just ended up driving through it then pushing on the rest of the course.
Both days I learned my lesson in not being greedy. Each day I threw away my fastest runs with the same stupid mistake - trying to make it through a slalom without lifting. And I discovered I need to stop using the waterproof back for the gopro.
I agree with everybody above. Awesome event again this year, and a big thanks to MMSC. I really wish we could have this size venue for regular events!

X2 on both counts. The slowdown box seemed to work great. Plenty of rooms to slow down safely, and I never picked up a single cone there all weekend. I also really liked the T&T layout as well. Having a short course with minimal working stations was a great idea. I've been needing to play around with swaybar/pressure settings all season and never really was happy with what I figured out @ Digby. On Friday, I could do three runs back-to-back and be confident that any time I got was representative. I think Patricia and I used every combination of swaybar stiffness and even removing swaybars + playing with pressures. Unfortunately The car was an understeering pig on Saturday so it never really performed as well as i knew it could. Thanks to Ben E for helping me sort it our for Sunday! I must have been the only one who enjoyed Sunday more than Saturday...
If you were one of the people who enjoyed my ridiculous camera setup, hopefully the video makes it worth it! I also overlayed a view of the 200,000km old rear suspension doing it's best to hold on.
Curtis and I had a blast, really impressed with how well the event ran this year.
I liked both courses a lot, although unlike some I preferred day 2 more, I found there was an opportunity to make up good time in the initial section, and the turns linked nicely if driven hard on the right line.
Great event at slemon this year. Thanks to all the organizers. I also liked the day 1 course the best, but both days the course drove better than it walked, flowed pretty good both days. i also really liked the grid setup. Im thinking we could try something like this out at Digby next year might make things flow easier in the grid.
Thanks to everyone who helped clean up my mess Sunday, allthough the floor dry gave away my fast line which Ben and Scott clearly tried on there next runs
here is my fastest run sunday before the line blew

I too would like to say job well done to the Organizers. A very smoothly run event.
I liked both tracks, but if I had to pick, it would be Saturday. Simply because of the first series of gates from the Start.
And a big thank you to our Canadian Air Force for putting on our own private Airshow. That was very cool.
Also, I want to give a big applause to Timing & Scoring. The job they do is incredible. My work function was to help out Timing & Scoring. Now... the term "help out" would not be an accurate description. More like get in the way. So I want to especially thank Pidge & Cathy for all their patience in having to deal with me.
Listening for a call about a cone, while reading off a time from the display, and relaying that time to Allan, to write on the whiteboard, and Greg to write on the Post-it note to give to the driver in the stop box, checking to see who is on course, listening for calls about off course, relaying the late call about a cone, confirming that cone with the work station that called it in before another call comes in for a cone for the other car on course, that is, not the car that's just coming to the stop box, but the other car that just started, wind makes great background noise on the radio, ask a station to repeat a call, confirm who is next to the line, another cone call, and quick read off the time for the driver that just stopped the timer. Take a breath, and repeat.
It gets real stressful, real quick. But what a rush.
Add to all that, I'm convinced that Hercules Pilot was using the Timing & Scoring Van as a simulated target for some practice strafing and bombing runs.
One other thing.... Readable car numbers are very important. Apparently the phrase "One cone for the blue car" doesn't translate at all when trying to input that information into a computer that only wants to know the car number. So my hat is off to Pidge, Cathy, Ray, Ming, and all the other people that help out at events in Timing & Scoring. You do an amazing job.
My last run from Saturday. We should get stickier Post-it notes.

Any reason that we shouldn't post our lap timer datalogs for direct comparison? I think it would be interesting to see my driving compared to faster people

I have .vbo files, because I'm using Circuit Tools to play back the data on my PC. I have my fastest runs and Matt's fastest from Slemon, but it would be interesting to compare more. They were created using Harry's Lap Timer. I'm not sure if we can directly compare these runs to others that were recorded with a different phone/GPS because the track coordinates would be slightly different, but it's a worth a try Here are mine: Day 1 http://multiupload.biz/xn8l6rqp4ey8/Lap ... z.vbo.html Day 2 http://multiupload.biz/1pqzszeaczeu/Lap ... z.vbo.html

Dang, that's too bad I won't post Matt's data without his permission, but I found the comparison between my runs and his really interesting. It's incredible how many times someone can pull ahead and then drop back and trade positions all in the course of a 90 second course
