2015 autocross school and test & tune.
We are planning this event, but as we all know, The snow has taken over the lots. I will check up on the lot over the next few weeks, but as of last week the lot was 50% snow. The course would be 2 straight lines, So this event will be based solely on the snow being melted away. If the event is a go, we will need sweepers. The lot will be very dirty from all the sanding/salting over the nice winter weather we have had.

Date: May 2nd 2015
Location: Stoneridge Fellowship, 85 Temple Terrace, Sackville, NS
Organizer: ASCC Solo committee
Course Set Up: ASCC Solo committee
Timing and Scoring: James Partridge, and Krista Barron
Registrar: Charlotte and Cathy Partridge and Krista Barron
Instructors: ASCC Solo committee, and experienced competitors.

0800: Volunteers are asked to arrive.
0830: Autoslalom school students registration begins
09:15 School registration ends
0930: School drivers meeting. Student’s cars to be teched by instructor and
course walk to follow.
1030: Student runs start.
11:30: Registration for Test and Tune opens.
1230: Autoslalom school end (instructor will help all day on request) Registration for t&t ends
1245: Test and Tune drivers meeting followed by course walk
1315: Test and Tune open to everyone registered and teched.
1530: Test and Tune ends course cleanup.

--Autoslalom school costs $30. For first time members this also covers ASCC annual membership, If you were a member previously the school will cost $20 Plus your membership if you do not already have it. The school includes the test and tune time.
--Test and tune only $10

If no students are registered for the school we will adjust the
schedule, and it will be an all-day test and tune.

0900: Volunteers are asked to arrive
0930: Registration for Test and Tune opens.
1015: Drivers meeting
1030: course walk
1100: Test and tune open
1430: end of test and tune, course cleanup.

All competitors must show a valid club membership card. If they do not have
a club membership card they can renew at the event or pay for a 1 day ASCC membership $5.

If you plan on entering the school, I need you to PM me your info, Your
name, Car make and model, Any modifications, in need of a helmet or not (M
rated helmet or better) and any past experience. This way we can pair you
with the correct instructor.
There will be loaner helmets available, but if you are using a loaner helmet
you need to share and always return to registration after your run.

This is a Non-points event. A learning and test day. We encourage anyone and
everyone to come participate or watch. We are asking any competitors who
will take passengers to leave your name with registration and we may have
people looking for ride alongs. We will be asking the church itself to
inform people of the day, giving them a chance to get in the passenger seat
of a car and see what their lot is being used for.

Absolutely no speeding or reckless driving around the site will be
tolerated. Driving behaviour during the event will be discussed at the
drivers meeting. Any competitor speeding or recklessly driving outside the
event will be penalized or their day may be ended.

Hope to see everyone there, Lets hope for good weather, and a snowless lot.

I could perhaps bring a leaf blower/brooms to help get rid of some of the dirt? It would be a lot of sweeping if we had to do that, but with ten push brooms + operators it shouldn't be too bad.

i don't mind doing a bit of sweeping, but we'll likely need a small army if the entire lot is bad. Joel, are you suggesting we have people sweep the course the morning of the event?

Late April Ill go have a look at the lot. See what's left on the grounds for sweeping or clean-up.

Count me in as a sweeper and as an instructor if required.

I am DONE shoveling snow, so don't count on me for doing any of that, especially in May! (Barf)

Way things are going, we might need one of these. Especially for Saint John.

I drove through the lot yesterday. The right side as you're driving in is still 50% deep plow snow. Lots of banks around the islands elsewhere but I suspect they're not long for this world.

Swung by yesterday. Nearly entirely melted, including the overflow lot area where we normally park non-running cars. However, there is an incredible amount of dirt/gravel/pavement chunks in these back lot areas!

Thanks for the update, I was wondering. We need a push-broom count. I think I have at least 3?

There's a few in the trailer. I have one I can bring out. Someone should consider Scott's suggestion of an industrial blower rental if its not too expensive. It can take a lot out of a day to have to manually clean a lot.

I called Macfarlands, they have nothing smaller than a skidsteer with a front mounted sweeper. Other place I should try?

Home Depot?
United rentals in burnside.
There is also a smaller place on sackville drive. Can't think of the name though.

Bay Equipment was the only one mentioned that had anything of the sort. They are essentially a whipper snipper with a 30" bristle brush attachment designed just for the task at hand. He said a rough figure would be $50/day and 2 would perhaps be needed to get the job done in a reasonable amount of time. Before the wheels get set in motion he needs someone to go in and give a photo ID to have everything reserved.

For 150$ I think it would be money well spent. BUT I am up for manual sweeping if you folks think the power sweepers are superfluous.

Might be cheaper/easier to hire someone to do it with proper equipment. We should run anything like that past the Church anyway, and I think we're waiting for Debbie to get back. Not certain on that.

After watching people sweep the SJ lot it would take forever to clear the whole lot with just push brooms unless you can wrangle a dozen people or more.

This is the proper equipment. As I said, they are designed for this lol. And you think you need permission to sweep the church's parking lot? That seems odd.

I'll give it up and let you folks deal with it.

I was thinking the guys with sweeper/wash trucks or a bobcat with an enclosed sweeper (ie. one that doesn't make piles and dust everywhere). They can clean faster with a 6' motorized sweeper than we can pushing a small one or a broom.

And of course you need permission to operate machinery or a crew in someone's lot for the better part of a day. At least make sure they don't have something going on already.

We should ALWAYS clear anything we would like to do with the owner/operator of the facility we are using...

There are devices called "parking lot sweepers" that are of the walk behind variety and they make no real sound and can be deployed very easy from the rear of a truck.
I have the time but no resources to clean the parking lot thru the weekdays. Put the headphones on and go for a long walk.

What is this regarding, exactly?

Edit, Ah yes, I understand. Like I said I would definitely be up for that. I wouldn't mind doing a half shift. I'm down there a couple times a week anyway.

I can lend a hand with lot prep as well if there's an effort going on in the evening.

Hope everyone had a tolerable winter. :)
