Victoria Day Monday is ASCC's HPDS.

Just a heads up, there is usually a classroom session the evening before to provide more track time on the next day.

The calendar shows the "Regional Race School class room" on Fri May 22 and the Regional Race School @ AMP" on Sat May 23, followed by ARM Regional Race #1 on Sun May 24.

Then there is the "ASCC HPDS @ AMP" on May 18 (Victoria Day), but no classroom session listed the day before (should there be?).

And then there are the school sessions during some of the AFRA lapping days (The AFRA lapping days are on the calendar, but no indication which one have schools).

Since space seems to be limited in these, is preference given to those who plan on doing time attack/TRAC events? I'd be interested, but wouldn't want to take up space since I really only plan on autocrossing this season

Yes. The ASCC HPDS is the only place to get your time attack license so they will prioritize people who plan to compete. The AFRA schools will get you on track if you just want to do lapping. You probably already know this but a rollbar would be required for the S2000.

Here is the announcement for the HPDS school last year which should give you an idea what to expect this year (mentions the preference for time attack, though it notes they usually have drop outs so wouldn't hurt to put your name on the waiting list)

http://www.armsinc.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=12893

And the race school is intended for those that want to get a race license (i.e TRAC or Spec Miata).

Thanks guys. And yeah, the s2000 probably won't end up being tracked any time soon. I'd have a hard time passing a broomstick test with the tallest roll bar and lowest seat. I'd probably just put the money towards something cheaper to crash anyways 8)

I have someone interested in taking the school and starting out in Time Attack. He has an MX5 so he's just working on a suitable roll bar, but he has a street car he can take the school in if needed. I gave him the email to get in touch with you Brian. He may have a few questions about roll bar things. :)

Hey Guys,

I'm also interested in signing up for the HPDS. I assume you take care of the registration Brian? I haven't seen an official sign up for ASCC or AFRA yet. I know we're still quite early in the year, I've just got summer fever and trying to get all these ducks lined up.

Once the HPDS is successfully completed would we be able to partake in any of the lapping days. Or are the MHPDC and AFRA days exclusive to those members?
Also curious if the group of 30 is broken up into a couple separate run groups, or if everybody is on the track at the same time. (Is it possible for Greg and I to do the school sharing my car)

As far as time attack goes, could I wait until some of the later sessions in the season to start(after gaining more track experience/comfort) or is that discouraged from a competitive point of view.

Just looking for some of your experienced opinions

Thanks

Who do I contact for register?

My father and I are both planning to attend. We plan to do lapping days only.
I assume we need a Snell approved helmet?

The old requirement for the car to change the brake fluid still applies?

Are there other requirements?

You can apply for your lapping and time attack license or just lapping. Once you "pass" the instruction, you get just lapping permission or both if you show enough skill. This does not mean you can attend the MHPDC as they are a private club (unless you pay them). There are lots of lapping days you can attend however, including the lapping time during time attack evnts. If you get your time attack license, you can attend any of the TA events. I dont know about dates/fees other than what @Brian Gay said at the beginning of the thread.

Snell SA if you have a cage, M if you do not. I am unsure of the easliest acceptable Snell year. They do have loaner helmets available, but you need to request one when applying.

As of January 1, Snell M/SA 2005 is the oldest allowed.

Any idea when Snell 2005 is going to be phased out? Figured I should ask since we're on the topic, and to see if I need to be worried about buying a new helmet soon.

2015s aren't available until October. Generally 2005's will be valid until at least then under most sanctioning rules. (But always do your homework)

The 2015 slalom regulations states snell 2005 expires dec 31st 2018, none of the other ASN rulesets mention expiry dates, likely because they haven't been updated in awhile.

One of my friend's car won't be fixed in time for the school, would there be any way he could get to attend the school without his vehicle? his only method of transportation would be his truck but I don't see him attend the event in his "barely-passes-inspection" Ford Ranger lol

..or is there a possibility of later dates as we only plan on attending at least one regional TA later in June or August and the CTAC in Sept.
