Sounds like a fun event...would be neat to try.

If anyone wants Toonces the driving cat as their team mate, let me know. If not, I'll certainly understand.

Practice practice practice...

Congrats to newcomer David Williams on the wins last night. He put in very quick and consistent laps.

Had a fun first race as after the first lap settled out Keith, Randy, Ralph and I ran together for most of the race. The car seemed to push a lot in just about every corner and still had to be careful getting on the throttle exiting some corners. On the last lap gave Ralph a hard time, even went through the that kink before the bus stop side by side. But we got together under braking for the chicane and it spun Ralph around. Sorry about that, but I can guarantee I won't hit you next week (Ralph and I have teamed up for the LRP race).

Softened up the front ARB for race 2 and the car seemed to have more grip up front. Was happy to keep the lead pack in site for the first lap, but then snapped the backend around exiting the chicane and tapped the wall near the finish line. Started off again but it suddenly snapped around again and got the meatball flag. Called for a tow, which was a surprisingly quick 30s, but it then gave a 10 s penalty for dangerous pit entry... the tow truck driver must have been in a hurry. Was a fairly lonely race after that. At one point Scott emerged from the pits just a few seconds ahead, but that only lasted for about half a lap when found he and Jay sitting off track (at least we know Jay's mic now works  )

If you haven't found a team mate for LRP next week just shout out. Will post if set up a practice server before Tuesday. The following week we are back to Spa in the Mazdas.

David is one of my teammates from TNT Racing. We were chatting on teamspeak before the race and he decided to join in. He's damn quick in any car.

I had a pretty rough night myself. Good speed but kept crashing. I had two quick repairs in both races. Just couldn't keep the car on the track all night.

Race 1: http://members.iracing.com/membersite/m ... d=12343427
Race 2: http://members.iracing.com/membersite/m ... d=12344109

All-in-all it was a fun night and a good number of ARMS members present. Still missing Stacy though.

FYI, the Regulars has it's own group email list, if you'd like to join and get to know the rest of the league members: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/gplf3r/

Looking forward to the team event at Lime Rock... It's going to be a hoot!

That was pretty fun, track is a bit long and everyone strings out pretty fast.

I got punted in the 1st race by Jay "the bruiser" Barthelotte, was pretty boring until I caught back and could watch Scott/Brian/Jay/Kevin all spin off into things.

2nd race was just trying to not crash and not hit anyone.

Brian & I had synchronized spins on at least two occasions. It was quite funny. I should have saved the replay. :orglaugh:

Sorry about that, Paul. I know how it feels. Last week, I was rear-ended in both races. In hindsight, I should have slowly backed off.

I think I was on the far left in the run off...you might have been in the middle and someone might have been on your right...on our way to Eau Rouge. I knew someone was on my right somewhere...thought you pulled ahead and I tried to make my way back on track. Quickly found out that the car (your car) was still there and it was another car that pulled ahead. Sorry for ruining your race. My initial goal was to let the field settle out in front of me and simply do consistent laps without going off or impeding others. But I think I had a good start and ended up mid-pack after the first turn. Felt like we were 3 or 4 cars wide going down the hill.

That's why we'll make great team mates for the Turkey Run next week... We'll never both be on the track at the same time. Haha!

It was later, corner 11, I was on the outside of you, I don't think you knew I was there. Was my fault for trying to hang on the outside, I was questioning myself at the time, and was honestly not suprised we touched, it was slight, but I went off.
I was going to give you a bump and run later on when I caught back up, but you flew off the track in front of me before I could!

Speaking of car contact, Keith posted this message for Jay in the Regulars email group and later asked me to pass it on.

Quote:

Subject: [gplf3r] Race 2

Jay, apologies for the crash at the start of race 2. I watched the replay, and it looks like I should have given you a bit more room. You were in my blind spot and for some reason the spotter didn't say anything about it. Usually it says "keep right" so I know there's a car there. Sorry again. See you next race!

Unrelated note: Ralph, it seems destiny has us racing each other. Some how we both ended up with tows in separate incidents on lap 1, and ended up right near each other again :)

Ahh...I remember that, Paul. I didn't see you at all...in fact, I was totally surprised with no blue flag or spotter warning.

No worries, Keith!

Not a good week for me...looking forward to getting back into the Star Mazda again.

If there is interest can fire up a practice server tonight in the same time slot. Let me know if you want to give it a try.

There were a couple new requests to join the league from ARMS today. Can we expect a "surprise" team or two tomorrow night?

For those who are running the BMW, we’ve posted our setups on the TNT Racing website. Both are good for mid-to-low 48’s:

BTW a few notes from the test session last night:

Be careful which team you select when you join the server. Seems that if the recruiting option is enabled with the teams that already have registered for the race then it's possible to join those teams as you connect to the server. So double check that the team you are supposed to drive with is selected before you join the server (it can't be undone, even if you disconnect, withdraw, or log out).

The owner of the team has to register the team for the race before team members can join. So if you can't select the correct team when you try to join, wait or contact your team owner. The team owner can register the team for the race without having to join the server as a driver.

All drivers must be join the server before the race starts. After the race starts can't join even if your team is registered. It is possible to leave the server and rejoin later as you can during non team events, but you have to connect before the race starts.

EDIT:The safest way to join may be through the Teams->Teams Sessions list. If your team owner has registered the team for the race then it should show up on this list. There's also the My Teams, <select the team>, Sessions buton that should show any session the team is registered for. If there are no sessions under these lists either register the team on the server if you are the team owner, or contact the team owner to get the team registered .

EDIT 2: Seems if the team owner makes the another team member an admin, then the admin can also register the team. Also drivers don't have to join before the race starts, they can join through the "My Team Sessions" page at any time, provided someone has registered the team before the race starts.

What could go wrong?

Congrats to Scott and Brian G on the Irregulars team podium finish in the team race last night Will definitely set up another enduro in the near future. We don't have anything scheduled for Dec 16, and there's the possibility of doing something between Christmas and New years. Also a Hangover Enduro on New Years day has always been fun. Stayed tuned to this channel.

The driver swaps seemed to be the easiest part of the race. Things like which radio channel should be used or even which ones were available depending on where you were (need to figure out how to mute certain drivers ;-) ), and that the camera views have a 20s delay unless you fast forward or become the spotter. Luckily I had a patient team mate who didn't seemed bothered that I registered with the wrong car, and then couldn't figure out how to turn off the pit limiter (could have sworn it was "L" but that must have been in rFactor), or that one of us was using metric and the other imperial units (converting liters to gallons while on the track is not a strong point of mine). Also got some good tips on how to drive a car that has a fair bit of push. I found the stints out of the car went quickly as was looking out for traffic and doing the crew chief thing.

Thanks Ken. The team event was a lot of fun!

I fear I let down my teammate though... I missed the start and gave up our P2 grid spot for a pit start. I had originally joined the grid then exited (with GRID 1:47 left) to make a quick change in the garage, then mere seconds later as I went to hit the GRID button again, it turned to “0” and left me in pit lane for the start. I was literally 1 second too late.

Then in the opening lap, I spun in T3 as I approached slow moving traffic, putting us even further back.

And at the end of my last stint, I got distracted with trying to switch my radio channel back to @Team and I missed pit entrance with not enough fuel to complete another lap. So I ran out of fuel mid-lap and slowly coasted the car back around to the pits with a stalled engine.

Despite all of my mistakes, we still managed to finish 3rd. I suspect we could have finished 2nd had it not been for my goof ups. But we would not have been able to keep pace with TNT Racing's David & Jim… They were just too fast with both lapping in the 48's fairly consistently.

Here are the results: http://members.iracing.com/membersite/m ... d=12402437

Tonight another TNT-Racing teammate intends to broadcast our league races at Spa, complete with full commentary!

This is his first time attempting to broadcast a race, so it might not be Martin Brundle @ SkyF1 quality, but it should be fun to watch just the same. :)

You’ll be able to watch the broadcast live (or view it later) at: http://www.twitch.tv/DingoLindsay

Tell all your friends and family to tune in and watch your race!

Congrats to Scott and David on the wins. Welcome to Rejean. And a big thank you to TNT for doing the race broadcast. I jumped over to the live feed after the race and caught Scott's interview (I thought he would have been chattier  ) and it looked good. Hope to view the recorded broadcasts in a little bit (see details below). BTW couldn't figure out why TNT wanted us to use teamspeak instead of just the iracing chat, but see that they were using TS to record the commentary and get the post race interviews. Will get it installed for next race (note this is optional, not required to race).

Had a blast in both races. Brian W seemed to be somewhere nearby in both. In the first one Scott was left out front as the rest of the lead group spun. That left Brian and I to fight over second. We only qualified a couple 100ths apart so with the draft we kept trading places. When the white flag came out David was on our heels so it was a 3 way fight for a bit.

Second race a bunch of us got slowed going up the hill which let Randy get a run on us so we were 3 wide on the long straight. Tried to go 2 wide with Jeff in the next corners but I couldn't hold the car inside and we touched wheels. Car seemed to drive ok but steering wheel was 15 deg from center to go straight. Let Jeff back around that lap once realized it was him that I hit and not Randy and then we were joined by Brian W. We had a good scrap and slowly reeled in Ralph which made it a 4 way fight. Fun ended a couple laps from the end when I got up on the curb in that double apex sweeper. See Jeff and Ralph change spots up ahead but could only watch from a distance. Well done to Randy for staying ahead of all this the entire race to take 3rd.

GT series wraps up next week at Road Atlanta . We're thinking about having another team race on the 16th, possibly at the short version of Road Atlanta. And maybe in something like the MX-5s, or the legends( if you really want to test your reflexes). How does that sound?

Hey fellas.. we are going to have our TS open to all Regulars... Here is the address

209.11.111.31

no password needed..

If you don't have TS go to download

http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads

Once installed, go to

bookmarks tab> manage bookmark>add bookmark

Label the Bookmark TNT Racing

then put the above IP address in the address box

Type in your name, as on iRacing for ease of all, into the 'nickname' box...

click ok...

Now go to the bookmarks tab and you should see TNT Racing in the drop down.. click on that and viola, you should be connected and in the Regulars TS room..

Ben, and guest commentator, will be giving interviews following each race. Try to make it over and hang out on the all new Regulars TNT TS Channel...

Interviewing me is like pulling teeth. Lucky to get a full sentence out of me. Image

That was a lot of fun. Our new found broadcaster is going on vacation shortly and will be out of commission for a while. Hopefully we'll have the opportunity have him back again in the not-too-distant future. If anyone is interested in joining him in the commentator both, let us know and we'll set you up. Image

Go to: http://www.twitch.tv/dingolindsay/profi ... broadcasts

Scroll down to the bottom, and you'll see two broadcasts under "Past Broadcasts".

No problems with firefox and windows.

Quite good considering it was a one man show. Was obvious he was looking for the right buttons once and awhile, but even after the first race could tell he was getting a better handle on the controls. And nice to see coverage through the field. Pass along a "well done" to Ben, though I could have done without the 4 replays of me hitting Jeff.

Yes Ben did a great job broadcasting for his first time, especially doing it all on his lonesome. He said he had a blast and looks forward to doing it again after he gets back from the holidays.

Ben could really use a color commentator though while he does the play-by-play. If anyone is interested, let us know. (Doubleday would be great, if he were still on iRacing.)
