I think something to discuss at the agm is an "I dunno, I just wanna run" class. Show up, have fun, we can class you later for the next event of you want.

Either way, if you guys come out, we'll get you classed. At most we have copies of the rules there. If you want some help, make a post, or you can pm me with everything and I'll help. I'm sure a few others will too.

That class exists, it's called XP.

After consulting with a friend from Georgia who competes in SCCA nationals, my Mazdaspeed is now classed. YAY! :)

Thanks for the offers. We called in the help of a couple of SCCA Nationals participants we know in the US through our Mazda stuff.
According to them, for the street cars, she would be in DSP-L and I would be in either DSP or STX. (Depending on interpretation of one item.)
If we decide to bring the track car... I'm just assuming to straight to Mod? We're still doing the math on that one.

Personally, I'd be all for "Run What Ya Brung." This Dungeons and Dragons on wheels rulebook warrior stuff is too much like work.

What's the car, maybe we could help? Like Scott said, when in doubt XP.

Nah, we have it all figured out now. :) A friend who runs DP in national SCCA and is one of the organizers for his region helped us out.

Are you sure that is correct? DS and D classes include the Mazdaspeed3, and speed6, but the older protege is a GS car in stock form... Are you sure you were clear with your contact that it isn't one of the newer models?

Yes, it has to do with the particular mods on my car. He is a Mazda guy, very familiar with my MSP. :) It goes from GS to DSP because of the mods.

That being said, it's horribly underpowered and likely undercompetitive comparied to MS3's, Speed 6's, etc. However, because of changes to the intercooler, piping, and recirc valve bump it. Also, I have end links. Even if none of it really gives me an advantage.

Prepared and street prepared classes don't follow the same A-H levels and car groupings as the street classes. The Speed Protegé is in DSP. See page 204 of the SCCA book.

Yeah. Unfortunately she has a small number of minor reliability mods with minimal, if any, performance benefit that tick exactly the right boxes to bump the car straight to SP. Such is life.

Well I paid via paypal. Was not sure how much information was to be provided when sending payment as its done differently for the MMSC events.

I'll be running STX with the R32.

Just remember to bring your proof of paypal payment with you to the event, and check in at registration. Unfortunately, we don't have a true on-line registration set up for this event and you will have to fill in a form on site regardless of how you pay.

I've been waiting for an R32 to come along and strut its stuff in STX! I can't wait to see how it works.

Thanks for all the codrive offers I've gotten! My car is ready enough to run after last weekend. It won't be pretty but hopefully it will still be fast.

So we plan to be there for course setup around 5PM sat. AFRA has AMP rented and is letting us setup after they are done. So show up a bit early and watch some lapping. Hope the weather stays nice and we can all have a fun weekend.

So, no Mazdaspeed tomorrow. Trying to fix it today, the alternator belt busted off and the car overheated on a test drive. Limped it home, but the coolant bottle is in rough shape and it needs a new belt, and to make sure it didn't mess with the head.

If anyone finds a Rota Wheels center cap at AMP, let me know. I had one fall off my car during lapping today.

I won't be able to make this event due to work.

If you listen carefully you can hear Mike S. in the background: "Yes!"

Have a great day everybody. Was actually looking forward to getting into a slalom for old times sake (this was about the only one all year that worked for my schedule.) Unfortunately, I was leaning towards using the RX7, which broke at the lapping yesterday, and I hadn't finished prepping the RX8 because I planned to take the 7. Then Jenn's MSP threw a belt and overheated during a test drive last night after we had gotten it ready. Such is life.
Too bad, as we had talked two first timers (and a third casual participant) to bring their cars out today as well.

Best of luck on the day everyone. I hope I've talking enough bad auto karma for the team that everybody else will be fine.

I had two just like them fall off. Less of a fall, more of a melt. They did not like the heat.

Scott

I used to have a set of these around...don't think I sold them with the wheels...let me have a look tonight.

Wheel caps (any material) will eventually fall off. I forgot to take some aluminum ones off my Fiske...but we actually found in turn 8 (in the grass)!

"Holy Gear Change Batman!"

First off, Thank you to all who helped put this show on. Your work is hugely appreciated.

AMP, still my favorite AutoSlalom course, or "Hillclimb".

Interesting course, definitely an opportunity to practice "Heel & Toe".
I count 12 gear changes........ Yes, you read that right, "12" as in, Twelve gear changes in one AutoSlalom run. Actually if you count the downshift from 3rd to 1st to get out of the stop box, that's thirteen gear changes!!!
5 "Heel & Toe" downshifts!! That was fun. :D :D
Would've liked a couple more runs to tweak the shift points.
