AFRA Track Days

* May 4th (Lapping & School)
* July 1st (Lapping Only)
* August 4th (Lapping Only)
* September 1st (Lapping Only)
* September 6th (Lapping & School)

Cost for the school $160 (includes lapping fees)
Cost for regular lapping $80 online ($100 at the gate)

Throughout the year the Atlantic Formula Racing Association (AFRA) will put on Track Days & Schools (aka Lapping Days & Schools) at Atlantic Motorsport Park. These sessions allow anyone to lap the track in a safe, controlled environment cheaply and without the stress of competition! In order to participate in these sessions drivers are required to have completed an ARMS approved school. To make this process easier AFRA will be providing several 'Track Days & Schools' throughout the year. These sessions will teach you the basics of track safety and driver control to provide you with the tools required to drive at AMP during these sessions!

It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that if you have no previous motorsport experience to participate in 1-6 AutoSlalom events before taking any Track School or High Performance Driving School! AutoSlalom is an entry level motorsport event that provides a stepping stone for drivers looking to move into other more competitive and possibly expensive forms of motorsport including Lapping, Track Days, Time Attacks and Road Racing. A typical AutoSlalom event costs aprox $20 per day.
AutoSlalom is where you learn to drive your car, a Track School is where you learn how to drive the track.

The Track Day Schools will be by pre-registration only and will be limited to 4-6 students per school, so please register soon to ensure your spot. Entry fee is $160.00 which includes the lapping card license for students who successfully complete the school.

The schools will consist of 2-3hrs of classroom time followed by a track walk. The afternoon will be spent with the instructors one on one in the car on the track. Students will also be required to man a marshal station for one lapping session with a marshal or instructor later in the afternoon.

Completion of a Lapping School qualifies participants for an ARMS Lapping License allowing you access to the many lapping sessions (aka Lapping Days / Track Days) at Atlantic Motorsport Park throughout the year. The cost of this license is included in your school entry. A Lapping License does not qualify you for SoloSprints or Racing events.

There will be lapping on these days. The lapping sessions will be $80 online ($100 at the gate) and will alternate between the students and novice/experienced lappers. Registration for lapping is from 8:30 - 9:30.

Pre-Registration & payments for LAPPING can be done via this link: http://www.atlanticformularacing.com/track_days.html

Those willing to assist as marshals for the school will get discounts for these Track Days.

We are only accepting 4-6 students max. The students will not be "mixed in" with the regular lappers until the instructor signs off on them.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To register for the SCHOOLS please submit the form on the link below:
http://www.atlanticformularacing.com/track_schools.html

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Below are the forums and rules you need to read, understand and fill out for this school:

A helmet for the school is required. If you do not have an acceptable helmet please inform us ASAP.

Helmets meeting the following FIA standards are approved for use in Lapping:
FIA 8860-2004;
Snell 2010 SA or SAH
Snell 2010 M, Snell 2010 K
Snell 2005 SA, Snell 2005 M or Snell 2005 K

SFI Foundation 31.1A, 31.2A or 31.1/2005

Snell 2010M, 2005 M or 2000 M rated helmets are not acceptable for vehicles equipped with a roll cage or where the vehicle is classified as Modified. These drivers require a helmet which meets one of the FIA, Snell SA, Snell SAH, SFI or BSI standards listed above.

For the school a fire extinguisher is not required.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Everyone that is lapping or doing lapping MUST ATTEND a the drivers meeting before going on track. Drivers meetings will be held in the morning and after lunch.

Fantastic day at the track...slight breeze...a bit of sunshine and the great sound of V8 engines pounding away at the tracks surface. Now to be fair the 4 and 6 cylinder cars where much quicker but the sound was just not the same, huffing and puffing and going like the wind...damn near scary it was! All we needed was a fire breathing diesel pick up and the day would have been "perfect" !!!

..."just another wonderful day at the track".

Thanks to the marshals, Andrew, Kevin, Julie and Trevor who made the day run really smooth.

The 5 people that did come out lapping got their fill, so much so that my 3:30 everyone was done for the day.

Dumb questions I know, but, any idea on the availability of space for August 4th?
Also, any idea on how you were planning to set up the run groups? (Or just winning it based on what shows up?)

I get put in the "fast" group because I have numbers on the car (should I just cover them?) but since I'm trying to put time on a rev-limited freshly rebuilt engine, I'm just a chicane and an annoyance in that group.

Budget isn't allowing me to book a private block, so just trying to sort out something that works best for everybody.

I think we are about 1/2 full at this point.

We will not be running run-groups, it will be an open track all day (with the exception of lunch).

Thanks Jason. Being able to slip out when the track is quiet (with no run groups) could be ideal for me.
If I can get my hands on a trailer and the weather looks decent, we might be in.
