It's been a while since I've had to do this.

I downloaded the 265 page ASN regulations...and whoa.

What class am I in?

e92 m3. wider than stock wheels, r888's, and race brake pads (oem hardware).

R888's are 100 treadwear. With the wheels, that'd put you in ASP. With stock width wheels you'd be in F-Street-R

I've been searching online for something like this... Comments on accuracy (as relates to the CAC 2014) of this chart? It might be a useful tool for those of us who haven't been out on a regular basis to check on where we class.

http://www.sff.net/people/dburkhead/prepcompare.htm

And NOT that any one HERE would ever do it, but I suppose it could be used when one goes slinking/slithering through the Impound area after each run group Slemon to check the validity of mod/non-mod claims of our competitors...!!

That thing is really good, but it's a couple years out of date now.

Don't have to slink/slither. That's what impound is for

Has a much better ring to it than "impound" though, doesn't it.

This one is good for this year (doesn't cover JDM vehicles as per the Canadian rule set):

My point was you don't have to slink/slither... you're supposed to look.

As an aside, does anyone know how the SCCA decides on base classes for different vehicle types? Like Evan Roberts mentioned in an earlier thread, it's a bit surprising that they put all E46 and E9x BMWs in the same class, including the M3s.

Is it the same for the E36 generation? At least in that case there's not quite so much difference in power between the regular 3 series and the M3 (for north american models anyway).

They have a lot of experience with different cars, so when a new one comes out they guess where it should be. Based on power, suspension, chassis, etc. If they are wrong, and a car is killing or losing in a class, people complain, they look at results, and they'll move it for next year. Or immediately if it's really bad. So cars end up in clumps where they are reasonably evenly matched.
