A couple of people were interested in the start of race #3, so I put a clip up on YouTube of what our camera saw. Here's the link:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ8tzBC ... e=youtu.be

Not accusing anyone, just wanted to show what actually went on. The lead cars look like they touch on the pace lap and there's contact later on between two other cars entering turn 2. Draw your own conclusions.

The pace lap contact is pretty dumb. I would understand if Blu was forcing him way out off line getting all the junk on his tires, but i didnt see that. I understand there's a amount of pressure we can put on other drivers coming to the start of a race. In the way you follow or coming over to there door when warming the tires, but contact is just dumb. I know there was tension between the front 3 cars, but after the finish of race 2, I kinda figured the white car would stop pushing people around as he CLEARLY could not control himself when he was on the receiving end of a touch. Now in saying that, he is fast, and young. Lots of learning to do.

The start sucked. I think Leigh Pettipas should teach a class on how to start a race. He dose it right. Maybe its because I went to Scotia speed world for most of my life. They have a line, after that line the leader can go or wait for the green flag. AMP needs this line. should be on the first 1/3 of the front straight. After that line its up to the leader or flag. None of this halfway up T11 crap. I've done restarts before were i was wide open in T9 to catch the leader who just took off entering T9. It sucks.

The contact in 1, meh. Jr learned how fast people can catch when you enter 1 wrong, and maybe holt will hold his ground next time. I would guess Jr had no idea holt was there, and just got out of shape and made the second contact. Holt did a good job moving to the outside to try and prevent more contact but in the end, safety first, if you can prevent hard contact, and cars getting turned you should. But in the back of your mind it would have been hard not to just hold your ground in T2 and let Jr turn himself around.

And Brian, you could put a car between you and the car infront of you. Get up there. lol.

Is there anyway Spec Miata can get there own Series Stewart? OR 2. I think this would be best. 1 or 2 guys. Tower TOP level (if weather is okay) and T2 or T3. That would be the only racing he would watch. Then if something happens, they would deal with it ASAP. The people we have do a good job, but when 1 race ends another starts. So they don't have time to go give penalties and listen to protest/complaints. Once people start seeing point penalties being handed out for unsportsmanlike racing they will cut back on the fender usage. As i said i went to Scotia Speed World for a long time, and theres a fine line between racing and ramming. lol. Some drivers are so good they can spin you out when your behind them. Sly Cy Harvey come to my mind there. Anyway, just a idea. The series is paying to come to AMP, they should be able to contol the policing of there events.

That vid was very interesting from my point of view, b/c from where i was watching, it looked like #8 had tried a dive-bomb on #09 and had got his just desserts from trying a low % move.

But from the vid, it's clear that 09 moved right over and 8 didn't have enough time to evaporate before the contact on what was, in my mind, a fair move.

A quick check of the mirrors could have averted that.

And I agree with Joel...maybe there should be a line that you cannot accelerate before to keep tight formations. the SMs are usually very good about that, so to see the whopping great lead enjoyed by #10 (again, from my vantage point) came as rather a shock. That explains why he wanted to be on the left of the front row...so he could get a more favorable jump coming out of 11...

The car on pole should not go green before the green is shown on a start, that should be a penalty, pretty sure it is everywhere else.
Especially if you can't even see the starter in a blind corner. Good way to cause an accident if the starter waves off and the back of the field comes storming over 11. That needs to be the last time that happens at AMP.

Little bump on the pace lap, all good, I like seeing a little heat!

That restart of the St. Pete's Indycar race this year being a fine example of that...and that wasn't even on a blind corner.

I watched this video after the above one. These guys are nuts. Its like something crazy going on in every corner. And why buddy just drove into the other car coming back on track, and why buddy just rammed into him after he came back on track, and why? The last corner will make you wonder about the front 3 drivers.

That pretty much describes what took out the 240SX when I had it. Tail end of the field going flat-out to keep up on a re-start, we come over 11 to an almost stationary car on the front straight, and I got tagged in the back corner.

I assume you're speaking of the "new guy"? If so, he ran a very strong race. Made it VERY entertaining for the spectators and marshalls, and gave Blu a run for his money! (2nd) :P There was one incident that I didn't care for, at all. I am pretty sure he knows that, and I really don't think it will happen again.
Other than that, and the 3rd race "intimidation" in 9, and the jump start in 11,(which I don't think will happen again either), I thought he did well. He is a strong competitor in this series, and the rest of us have to "up" our game in order to compete with the top level. I for one, am happy battling with you mid pack, good view of the leaders, but far enough away to avoid/capitalize if something were to happen. OK, that last part was the best I could come up with.
