C spec and Track are both good. The high hp one is too heavy and street car feely for my likings. I'm down for this change though, love driving the Porsche.

Only tried the c-spec but it was good. Though the car wasn't the reason for my poor attendance.

So is Friday nights race the switch or are we talking the next series?

If it is my vote is for the C-spec as this little German car is built like a tank just like Jeremy Clarkson says it is (...good to know as I've never driven my real Ruf into a wall to see if it will keep going :roll: )

I vote track, c spec is ok, but a bit trickier to drive, track version is easy to drive=less crashes.

Ruf RT 12R Track

I share the opinion that it is the easiest of the three to drive.

I have changed the remainder of the series to use the Ruf RT 12R Track, starting this Friday, Jan 03!

Well, I believe the car change was a good thing. Although I still like the SRF, the RUF is a little more exciting and that should improve the attendance.
Speaking of attendance, might we consider cracking the door just a little to let in some fresh air? It's been a very long time since we've had a double digit grid and it doesn't really get interesting until we have about a dozen or more entrants. I understand that ARMS admin's would like to keep this site and it's members locally flavoured but for iRacing we really need some more people.

What say you?

The unwritten policy is that the ARMS iRacing league is limited to ARMS members & friends, and others local to the Atlantic provinces (i.e. potential ARMS recruits). That said, if we each invited one friend, we could potentially double in size. 8)

I have invited everyone from The Regulars league as well as my fellow teammates in TNT Racing.

I'd really like to see the CASC-OR guys join us, but they seem to have participation problems of their own. :(

Hmmm, I seem to recall a "What province are you from?" thread on the iRacing forums. Perhaps I'll go through it and send league invites to everyone who is from NS, NB, PE, & NF. :idea:

Naturally I love the car, but I'm worried that we are only going to run the last three races (instead of a full season) with it then move on to something else for the next series :(

BTW here's the start of the first race from my perspective:

I did spend a few hours practicing on Oostelijk the night before ...but I never set foot on the club Zandvoort before and it showed :oops:
I guess I better get some seat time at Oran Park before next week so that I can at least stay out of everybody's way.
At least the finale is at a more familiar Mosport :|

Imho using more familiar tracks = more participation

I’d say it’s a high probability that we’ll be using the Ruf Track in the next (14S1) series. It seems like a good fit for our group.

This seasons tracks were selected based on their size. Since we are a small group and (were) running a small slow car, we tried to pick short track configurations to keep the field from getting too sprawled out. It can be boring driving all alone in a race.

We could try larger more traditional tracks next season / series, but I fear we’ll still be victim to field sprawl. Personally, I kinda enjoy trying out all these little obscure track configurations. It’s something new and levels the playing field somewhat.

But a lack of seat time at these obscure tracks make mediocre online drivers like me frustrated when they are two seconds a lap off the pace ...and it also gets expensive to buy all these tracks if your not big into it!

For instance I recognize two names from your list that personally told me they would come out and play, but it doesn't make sense to spend $14.95 for a track that they might never be on again for just one night :?

Personally I try to buy tracks that I have been too (or may have a chance to visit in the future) as it would give me a leg up before visiting and it is really neat to see the detail iRacing puts into this. For instance the tree, grassy lump in the ground, and patch of sand (full of red fire ants) where I met Walter T at Sebring one year is right there. That being said I suck at iRacing at Sebring because it's so hard to pick out depth on the flat ground :roll:

I guess what I'm trying to say is if your trying to attract Atlantic Region people then racing at obscure (but fun!) tracks like Zandvoort may not the right choice, but rather a good mix of default tracks and popular North American tracks may work better?

You raise some good points. I come from the perspective of someone who has 100% road content, is hard core into the sim, and can’t fathom why everyone wouldn’t want to own all the road tracks. 8)

Would matching the official series (next season) track selection be more attractive? That way, people can run both the league & official series with their purchases. And if any of those tracks happen to have shorter configurations, perhaps we can use them to minimize field sprawl. :idea:

Or in the extreme case, we could run the same track (different configs) the whole season, but that'd likely get tiring over time.

I like the little used tracks as well, Scott. I have all of the road courses except for maybe 1 or 2 of the ovals that have a road variation. Because our numbers are so small, I agree it is better to keep the field together on smaller tracks. The infield road course at Charlotte is a perfect example where with just half a dozen entrants you will always have someone to race with. Spa would be the complete opposite where if you spun at T1, L1, you would be alone for the rest of the race.
So, with that said, I think your course selection has been excellent. One thing I would change, is the length of the first race. Ten minutes is very short, IMO, and I would prefer a slightly longer stint. Fifteen minutes would be better or is twenty the magic number?

PS...There are a few small and obscure road courses for us to explore such as Oran Park, Silverstone and VIR.

I generally only buy what's needed for league events, and even then I'll sometimes skip an event if the track isn't something I'm interested in having. Running some of the less used shorter configurations has been fun. Second the (re)use of tracks with multiple configurations (at least until membership increases), adding Summit and Suzuka to the list . Would stick with the 10/20 minute races IF they used the same configuration both times, as the first could be used as a warmup to get people up to speed then we might have closer racing in the longer second round. If going to use mostly different configs on the same night then might as well make them both the same length (eg. 2x15 or 2x20 minutes).

Just my 2 cents.

Most of the track selection came from what I had purchased for my participation in the official series. I didn't buy anything extra. That said, I have seen that many don't progress beyond a certain license level, so they might not be grabbing the tracks demanded in higher license races.

With the switch to the RUF I think we can transition into the more medium length tracks. The initial track selections for this season was based on using a very slow car, so if we had been using big courses, you would have some lonely souls. I still think it would be ideal for next season to stick to tracks that are < 3km just to avoid spacing the field too much. I will agree with the suggestion of running the same configuration between Race 1 and 2. As Ken said, you can use one as a warm-up, and I always found that helped in previous ARMS and Regulars races.

I apologize for my lack of attendance. School is quite a demanding thing. I hope to be coming around more.

Sorry that I did not attend the races on Friday night past. Big disappointment for me as I love Oran Park.

My computer was refusing to boot up and I didn't have time to look at it until Sat. morning. Turns out my overclock setting had failed after 1 year of use. I had to reset the CMOS and start all over. The i5 2500k had been running at 4.4 ghz but I have now throttled back to 4.2 ghz. While I was in there, I did a thorough clean up of the CPU and GPU heat sinks and all 7 cooling fans.

It is running like a champ now, see you guys next race night.

Stacy, if you hit the <spacebar> during a reply, it'll remove the border (header /footer) from the screen and give you a cleaner view.

You should also install Trading Paints. That way you get to see (and use) fancy custom paint schemes. It's free. 8)
