If Trevor has his way setting it up it will be as open as he can make it!

Hmmmm... I was planning to skip this (and any Stoneridge) event simply because I absolutely hate tight 1st gear courses.

Curious now....

It's only a 1st gear course if you want to be near redline during most of it! Come on, you need the seat time

Of course it depends on the car, but second gear is absolutely the way to go for me even on the church courses.

Hard to be smooth when you're on and off the throttle near redline in first.

I absolutely agree that running in 2nd (regardless of the speed) is better in most cases. My point was that the Stoneridge courses, from what I've seen in the onboard videos, could / have been run completely in 1st gear which means they're slow & tight, and I generally do not enjoy such courses.

If Trevor is able to design a course that necessitates shifting to 2nd gear (and staying in it) then that would make the event more appealing to me as an individual. I guess that's what I was trying to say. :)

We could not do this course completely in first gear as fast as we can do it in second gear. Besides, you have a smaller car.....all the better to turn in fast!

Scott, I'm willing to co-drive your Evo with you, just to show you how to drive quickly on a tight course.

The EVO has a turning radius equivalent to that of a container ship, so if its a tight course, some 2-point turns may be required. ;)

Not at 30 kph on tarmac. :P

I was getting lots of rotation at the Coliseum last Sunday though! Too bad my Drift camera decided to stop working. Grrrr.

What'd the drift do? The only time I've ever had problems with mine were when I was feeding it dodgy power.

It will not power on. Battery is fine (tested it in another camera). Won't even start with the USB plugged in. I gotta contact support.

Not sure if it's the turning radius, but it understeers badly. A good alignment setup helps a lot. Have to really throw mine around hard to get it to turn.

The Talon was like that initially, and still is to some degree. Suspension / differential upgrades and aggressive alignment settings have helped immensely. However this EVO X has very sharp turn-in and is easy to induce oversteer; right out of the box. I was amazed at how well balanced it is. That said, you need to be moving at a fair clip to get it rotate.

The turning radius is dismal though. I literally have to make a 2-point turn just to steer it 90º into a parking spot between two cars. It's ridiculous.

You should be backing into that spot, or at least driving through it.

It's only calling for 15mm or rain. My massive oil leak is now fixed, so I'm game for a run in the wet. :D
