Supplemental Regulations for Aug 28, 2013 AutoSlalom #7 - ASCC Club Event

Location: Scotia Speed World, near Halifax International Airport, Halifax NS

Organizer: ASCC Solo Committee, Trevor Gray, Alan Gray, Joel Nelson, and George Sheppard
Course Set Up Workforce: ***Volunteers Needed
Timing and Scoring: James Charlotte, and Cathy Partridge, and Krista
Registrar: Alan Gray or Charlotte Partridge
Chief Scrutineer: Trevor Gray
Safety Steward: Joel Nelson
Entry Fee: $20.00 (for members of an ARMS-affiliate club).

Schedule:

1600: Gates open. Volunteers are asked to arrive.
1630: Registration and Scrutineering Open.
1730: Registration and Scrutineering Closed.
1735: Drivers meeting.
1740: "Official" course walk/drive.

In order for this to run efficiently, we need to follow this schedule precisely.

Registration will be closed at 1730 on the dot.

Insurance: As required by ARMS, provided by ASN Canada FIA. Waiver to be signed by all persons on-site.

Regulations: This event will be held under the General Competition Rules of ARMS, and the Atlantic Sports Car Club event regulations. This is the 6th event of the 2013 ASCC club Autoslalom season.

Absolutely no speeding or reckless driving around the site will be tolerated. Driving behavior during the event will be discussed at the drivers meeting

Notes:

The ASCC has SSW rented from 1600-2000. Therefore the schedule as shown above will be STRICTLY enforced.
If we do not have time for every car to run 4 runs, your time will be scored on your first 3 runs.

Run/Work Groups:

All cars must have their competition number and class displayed on both sides of their car for the benefit of the Paddock Marshall and the Timing and Scoring staff.

Cars will be organized into run groups of roughly equal numbers by class. Depending on turn out, all “stock” and “super stock” cars in one group, all “street prepared” and “modified” cars in the other. Cars with more than one driver will be run in the middle and end of each group.

Work groups will be called by the car number of competitors who are required to work. Everyone will work at least once as assigned by the Organizer. Competitors are reminded to report quickly to their workstations in order to ensure quick turn around. Failure to report for work assignment will result in forfeiture of points and any remaining runs. The work assignment list will be available from the Organizer and the Paddock Marshall.

*North bound 102 take left at top of Ramp and then take a left at end of road.
*South bound 102 straight ahead at Stop sign top of ramp

We had a great turnout tonight, 27 entries! Great weather despite the rain forecast for the last few days. Many thanks to all the participants, including a few people new to the sport and all who helped out.

I only managed to get one run in before I had to retire with car problems, but I had a great time at my first SSW Auto-X. I almost got lost in two spots and had to back off to sort out the direction each time, great course though. That's what you get for showing up late and only doing one course walk. Thanks to the Partridges and everyone else who put it together.

Also, sorry about the mess I made. George managed to get everything at the starting line and I took care of the rest once we realized it was my car. I should have that oil line replaced in time to make it to the Moncton event this weekend.

Great event, love the SSW setups. Wish my car hadn't eaten the diff bolt, but better SSW than moncton or at AMP.

Thanks to all the volunteers, sorry I did not show up early as I had planned... My GPS took me to Scotia Speed World Headquarters in Dartmouth... I'll know better next time. Cheryl and I had a great time.

Here are some vids, the second one is a little fun I had on my last run after hitting a cone

EDIT: I just noticed the 06 M3 behind me is listed F Stock.... That can't be right.

Thanks for chiming in, I was downloading the SCCA book to take a look (At my father's place on dial up)

How I ever lived with Dial up I have no idea.

Nice videos Devon!

Yeah, FS is correct based on the new classification system this year:
http://www.asncanada.com/2013-SoloSport/2013-ASN-Solo-Regulations-Appendix-A_B.pdf
FS used to be George Sheppard sovereign territory, but M3s have now taken it over! :)

I saw some cameras around the course, so, hopefully, we'll get some pictures too. ;)

Too bad, I hit those 2 cones in the "box" chicane on my last run as the time looked really good on that one. :(

I was surprised to see that it was F class too, but remembered seeing it out in Sackville so figured it had to be right.

Haha. The Talon is staying put, and (hopefully) making a return debut next season.

In the meantime, what better way to get acquainted with the new whip then running it in a few autoslaloms. :D

Greg, it was great having you down. Looking forward to seeing you and the b'ys again at the nationals next year!
