Matt,

You can get a membership at the event, the cost is $30. Your car will be classed in STX due to your wheels and springs. Car numbers will be issued at the event. There are some loaner magnetic numbers, or bring some painters tape to form them on your door.

Thank you very much.

We will have both of the twins at the first event!

Stock sized wheels - 245/40/17 Bridgestone RE-11A

Factory TRD intake (next to no gain)

Would like to run CS, but due to my intake I think I am now STX?

As stated earlier I will need a loaner helmet and a number assigned.

Thanks

Here is an excerpt from the rules:

13.10 ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN
A. The engine air filter element may be removed or replaced provided
the air flow path remains as originally designed (i.e., no additional
openings). No other components of the air induction system may be
removed, replaced, or modified.

It looks like that may l put you in STX. Also, you say the wheels are "stock sized"...they must be the same width and no more than 6.25mm difference in offset from stock to stay in stock class.

LOL, Your rusty is like my "A" game.

It should be a good event. Lots of people that could run FTD.

How easy would it be for two drivers to share a helmet? The other driver I mentioned in my post (Kyle Devine) doesn't have one. He's welcome to share mine, I just don't know if that would cause any problems. If so, he'll need a loaner helmet I guess. Should be medium I think.

I've done it a few times with sharing a loaner helmet (once with 3 of us). It works ok as long as you aren't running one immediately after the other. Then it doesn't work at all. It helps if you are both paying attention and do the trade-off quickly. If you are in different run groups it is easy. Mention it at registration and they may be able to accomodate and leave a few cars between you. There are a few loaner helmets in any case.

Might as well come play with us in STX anyway...looks like we'll have a good sized class this year :D

Aaron, if it's going to be a big class, you might need a little bit of an edge:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12138

Once I get all of the other cars fixed, I'm thinking I might drag mine back out retirement for the odd run in STX this year as well. Not having to be in an R compound arms race to run around a parking lot for a few minutes a weekend makes things much more appealing again.

And here I was hoping the link was to a driving school... :D

The new engine has less than 10k on it and seems to be working fine, don't want to mess with that. And I've spent enough on the car for this year already. Would really like to finally get the 2nd gear syncros fixed for next year (or an 09+ tranny swap)...

Fair enough. The fuel economy gain I got from leaning out the tune via my MM tuned AccessPort did help offset the cost of said AccessPort. (Which cost more than the MazdaEdit tune.. wish it had been available at the time.)
Plus a little more power, better idle, earlier turn on of cooling fans etc.

I'll stop being a bad influence now.

STX it is! I didn't get the boxes with the rims but after looking up the part number I see they are a half inch wider than the stock rim, offset is 3mm different. My intake is more than a filter change anyway..

Thanks to all who showed up today! Great lot, I enjoyed the layout. Everyone behaved (didn't drive recklessly, spinning the tires, etc). Alan G and I walked around the lot afterwards and picked up what we saw as garbage from the lot, and I can be pretty sure that it was all there before we got there. Great job everyone!
Oh, and 45 entries!!! It was a nice change back to smaller/tighter courses, although this was a nice sized lot!

Congrats Paul M on FTD! Nicely done.

Lot looked great! The course looked fun and there were a lot of very new and very old (Sorry! :) ) faces to be seen! I think this lot is the most exciting thing to happen to slalom in NS in forever! Great job to everyone involved!

It was a great day. Good weather for the first event and a great turnout. Lots of faces I havnt seen since I started and Plenty of new. I didn't even get a chance to see half the people to say hi.

I new Paul M would be stong competitor, and he proved it. Course was a blast to run. Tight but not crazy. I double check the rev limiter a few times today. Lol. Still works!

Hoping to see you all there next weekend so we can do it all over again.

The event was great, really had the old school 'Solo 2' feel that got me involved all those years ago.

I do suggest that we dig up the PA equipment for the next one and do some announcing. I was talking to a number of spectators that really were trying to figure out what was going on.

Thanks everyone! It was great fun and great to see 46 cars out there.

I agree with Gordon that a PA system would be great for that lot and all the VIP seating on the rocks. :)

I agree with Gord, having a voice on the PA makes the event all the better for old and new and spectators alike. Fun course, my car liked it! I was showing some rust, 2 O/C and pylons on the next two. I think the only one that didn't hit any was Paul M. Another car will get FTD next weekend. I'll be back for the HPDS and the sprint.

Not sure my times are correct on the graph. Don't remember any OC's.
