High Performance Driving School - May 18-19, 2013 ***There are still spots available but the school is filling up quickly, contact hpds@ascc.ca to reserve your spot today***

**30 of 30 spots have already been filled**

**If you are interested in taking the school and are concerned that it will be full, please make contact with Brian and he will put your name on a waiting list. There are no guaranties this year but history has shown that some people who have already signed up will withdraw from the school and the people on the waiting list get to fill those spots.**

The first ASCC High Performance Driving School of 2013 will be held during the long weekend on Saturday May 18th and Sunday 19th, 2013. This session is open to anyone who wants to learn some of the more advanced techniques and track safety to qualify for a Lapping card or Time Attack license for the 2013 season. Remember that you REQUIRE one of these licenses to drive at ARMS AMP events (outside of schools or slalom events)!

The High Performance Driving School will take place starting with a evening classsroom session at 6:30pm Saturday May 18th at 100 Dispensing Way, Lower Sackville followed by an all day track session at Atlantic Motorsport Park on Sunday May 19th. Entry fee is $200.00 which includes the Lapping card and/or Time Attack license for students who successfully complete the school. This course consists of a classroom session instructing students on the theory and physics of high performance driving as well as track safety and the following day consists entirely of on-track activities with small groups of students paired to experienced instructors.

The HPDS Students are required to bring the following:

- A safe street vehicle. If your vehicle can pass MVI its probably fine for the on-track sessions. Vehicles will be inspected for suitability (Brakes, Tires, etc) prior to the session. Convertible vehicles are NOT permitted without adequate rollover protection, most factory rollover protection is not enough so please check with the organizers. Please contact the organizers with questions regarding vehicle suitability. Students will be asked to complete a self-inspection checklist provided prior to the course.

- A Snell 2005M or newer 'M' rated helmet is acceptable, provided the car is not equipped with a roll cage or racing slicks. Cars with cages and/or slicks will require a Snell 'SA' rated helmet. Helmets meeting the following FIA standards are also approved.

FIA 8860-2004
Snell 2000 SA / 2005 SA / 2010 SA
SFI Foundation 31.1A or 31.2A
British Standards Institution BS 6658-85 type A/FR

If you do not have access to a helmet please contact the organizers as loaner helmets may be arranged with advance notice.

Below are the forums and rules you need to read, understand and fill out for this school:

SoloSport Self Tech Form must be filled out and completed.

ASN Canada FIA Time Attack Regulations

ASN Canada FIA Lapping Regulations
http://asncanada.com/ASN_Solosport/2012 ... ations.pdf

Information regarding rollover bars (please inform us if you plan to use a convertible for the school, most convertibles do not meet our safety requirements) http://asncanada.com/ASN_Solosport/ASN_ ... llCage.pdf

A helmet for the school is required. If you do not have an acceptable helmet please inform us ASAP.

A Snell 2000M rated helmet is acceptable for use in all classes except Modified and provided the car is not equipped with a roll cage. (Snell 2000M helmets now expire on Dec 31st 2014)

For the school a fire extinguisher is not required.

Any questions please email hpds (at) ascc.ca

Completion of this High Performance Driving School qualifies participants for an ARMS Lapping and Time Attack license allowing you access to the many lapping and solo competition sessions at Atlantic Motorsport Park throughout the year. The cost of this license is included in your school entry.

Note: Preferential placement will be given to students interested in obtaining their Time Attack qualifications for the purposes of running the 2013 ARMS Time Attack series held at AMP! Students interested only in obtaining the qualifications to attend lapping sessions may be asked to complete an AFRA Lapping School, held at another date.

Attention: The first Time Attack event is scheduled for Monday May 20th, 2013. Any student who attends this school and successfully completes the course to obtain their Time Attack License can register for the Time Attack event at a 50% discount from the regular entry fee. There is no automated reply but I have been trying to send back a note to everyone who registers.
Have you registered by any chance and not received anything back?

Hi Derek, I found your registration, for some reason it landed in my junk box. I had a look through and don't see anything official from Mark.

Just a reminder that all participants in the HPDS must have a current membership in one of the clubs.

Someone (most likely me) should be there to sign up memberships but things will run faster at the event if you sign up at the ASCC website and use paypal in advance.

Oh wow i didn't know i have to update if i haven't had this is a while that sucks. I'm on a tight budget is there any chance there is a discount for a refresher price since I'm still within ten years.

Also is i trailer a car there that does not have plates and mvi can I still use it, its not a full race car with a cage or nothing just a modified nissan 180sx street driven almost every year.

like i said I'm tight on money and the school is coming up soon so if i dont have to have it on the road ill just trailer it up that helps me out allot.

Is there any lapping practice time during the School (for people competing in the following days time attack)?
It sure is weird to have no lapping sessions prior to the first competition of the season.

^ Last time year I showed up for that during and after the school and we were told not to go on the track so I would like some specifics this time. Who would be able to answer this question?

Well, I can tell you there is practice Monday morning. And after the school is over on Sunday, and if interest, time and no horrific incidents take place (ie major oil leak, thunderstorm, etc), then there is lapping for race cars and if interest lapping for Time Attack ers too. However, nothing is a guarantee.

Who else is making last minute repairs, adjustment, etc.?
