I think 160kg sounds more acceptable.

Hi Jason,
So far in this championship I have placed 2nd in the first race, missed Daytona, and placed first at the ring/F.
I get 60 plus 40 kg as my penalty. I think I was over penalized at the ring/F race....
could this mean that my penalty is not 120 kg but 100kg? and also since I was over penalized at the last race take 20kg off for that....
is 80kg acceptable?

Varga,

Sorry you're right it was a typo on my part. It should have been 40kg not 60kg.
However since you won the race with an extra 20kg, maybe you should keep it?

It's the drivers responsibility to ensure they are running with the correct weight in their car. :)
So you will need to run 100kg (or more) for the next race. 8)

I was thinking of upping the success ballast if/when we do this again.

What are we going to do about March 3rd?

Two options:

A) Vote for a track here
B) Move March 9th up to March 3rd.

I'm ok with either, but if we had to vote for a track, I'd vote for Spa!

To say Monza went well for me is an understatement.
I love Monza as a track, it's very rewarding when you get it right.

The start kinda glitched on me, it put me in the car, and then my view "reset" just as the counter hit 0. Alek was able to beat me into turn 1, however I think I passed him at Roggia.

The next few laps Alek and Rob were nipping at my heels. Never more than a second behind me. Then I notice Alek wasn't there anymore. Turns out Rob couldn't see Alek and ran into him somewhere on the track. Rob stayed with me for a number of laps and then started to drop back. As my tires neared the end of their life he found some speed and caught up to me again, we exchanged 1st place back and fourth for a few laps before he dropped a wheel at Ascari and went into the dirt and then pitted for tires.

John (Cheechoo) was having serious issues (again :( ) connecting and I was kinda 1/2 hoping for a red flag, however he couldn't stay connected. I went until lap 14/15 and then decided to stop for tires. On lap 18 I noticed Varga was in 2nd place and only 7 seconds behind me, he was obviously planning on doing the whole race on 1 set of tires. I thought he'd planned that strategy and gone for med or hard tires, but it turns out he just decided to go for it on softs, brave fellow.

Meanwhile Harrod was having the best race he's had in a long time, he fended off Rob and then passing Varga for 2nd. Well done sir!
Also Trevor drove a great race to bring home 4th!

I'm surprised right now to see myself tied for 2nd place with Varga (only 2pts behind Alek).
I have a feeling John would be running away with this series if it wasn't for his connection issues, (which really suck) however it does make for an extremely close series, points wise.

Hopefully Steve and Joel will be back for Laguna Seca.

Success Ballast for Laguna Seca

vincentq4 120kg
MerlinRPM 80kg
cheechoo 40kg
AMoncilo 40kg
stevedp 40kg
S_AND_S 40kg

Taylor is once again success ballast free

Then again, I won't be able to join the race that occurs march the 3rd, since I'll be on vacation far from my ps3. On an other note, I wish I could have tried to join sooner since it takes me about 30 minutes to get a steady connection and I have reunions every sunday from 5 to 8 so by the time it finally get right, the race is almost over :P I'll try to figure it out for next sunday. Even though I might, since it's an other pretty busy week ahead.

Ps. Jason could send me more info on the ping thing plz. Thanks :P

I'm away next weekend too. Too bad about the race today, I really thought I could win this race, I was the only one dipping down to 1:44s. I guess that's how the cookie crumbles sometimes. At least I got to play unlike Jonathan. See you guys in 2 weeks.

John,

A few questions, I know you're on Aliant, do you have an Aliant modem & a router?
If so what router do you have?
Is the firmware up to date on the router?
You said you've wired your PS3, good, is it wired directly into your router or does it go through a hub?

Try this for next time:
-Reboot your Aliant Modem
-Reboot your router
-Clear your GT5 Network Cache
-Turn off things like Skype, Torrents, etc

I can't seem to find an address for you to continuously ping for the PSN, but you could try google.ca
Run -> CMD -> ping google.ca -t
Let that run and if/when you drop see if there was an intermittent loss of connection.

Yes, I have them both, the rooter is an Actiontec R1000h http://www.actiontec.com/products/produ ... SJC86WjOSo
I don't remember the login info to check which firmware version it has right now and neither does my roommate.
And it is wired directly to the router.

Here's what I've tried: I closed all my wifi using device, reseted the router and the modem, cleared the GT5 cache, deleted plenty of stuff on my PS3, Unplugged and plugged the internet cable, changed my ps3 location, turned On and Off the PS3 a 1000 times, pushed power reset power reset power reset, blown into the cartridge and....oops wrong device.. I connected to a random lobby, it worked fine?!?

Yes that was a great race. A couple of good battles. I didn't take any damage and only pitted once for tires. I was consistantly doing low 1:46's with a few 1:45's in there. My hands were sweating in the end, I didn't want to screw it up.

I would like to thank John and Steve for not being there (for what ever reason).

Next week with ballast should put me back down the list.

I had so much race rust that it was almost not funny! I had a very good start, making up a few positions and getting clean through the first couple corners, then dropped a tire trying to stay clean on the outside, spun, and got a good tag on the front, limping halfway around the track, I got a good handle on driving with damage, then on the 2nd lap, collected the barrier trying to get into the pit, and when the computer took over, it spun me a good 3-4 times and hit the wall a pile before it got it right and sent me in for a pit stop. 2 laps in, and the leaders were right behind me. Set the tone for the rest of the race.

Hopefully I can start getting back on a little more regular again, and get back into form.

Rob(bing)

Thinking back of last night's race I think it's kind of funny now what happened, so I thought I share it with you. I was chasing Jason at the end of Lap 2 when we both went deep into turn 1, this is when Rob crashed into me first and damaged the right rear tire. For the next esses I decided to brake a bit early because my car was wobbly with the damage. This is when Rob's car plowed into the back of mine, t-boned me through the esses and sent me flying into the barrier. I told myself that these things happen and decided to head for the pits with a totaled car. At this point I was amazed that Rob could keep up with Jason with a totaled car.

Image

Image

Finally after 20 laps I cought up with Rob again, I was drafting him on the straight and when we were side by side it seemed that he pushed me on the grass and didn't let me come back to the racetrack. I had to brake on the grass and was concentrating not to hit the concrete brake markers, I made it back to the asphalt but was going way too quick and my tire touched the grass again and crashed into the last brake marker. At this point I remembered the documentary with Jackie Stewart when he said to keep the emotions out of racing. I kept my mouth shut and finished the race with a damaged car. Again, I could not believe how quickly Rob was pulling away from me with a damaged car. :D

I'm going away this weekend so I won't be racing, I like Laguna a lot.

Funny how Rob's car didn't even react to your car.
We've seen this in the past, but both cars normally take damage and/or weird things happen (EG Stacy 40ft in the air).

I suppose Rob with his invincible tank car was a force to be reckoned with.

I feel bad Alek. I was havin the time o my life chasing Jason and had no idea I was smashing you aroun on the track. Going forward I will try to pay more attention to whom is in the pits and who I see on track once the race starts. I can just imagine your frustration. Especially since I didn't even apologize or anything. :/ I can't believe you didn't say anything. I hope I didn't hit anyone else that I couldn't see.

I was in the mid to low 1:22's. Still not 100% happy with the set-up.

May not make it this week though as we have a lot of things going on. Really not liking that thought though as I do really like Laguna.

Lapping update:

Jonathan and I were on earlier with our respective cursed ballasts.....he ran approx 19.5'ish and I turned my best of 19.7-8'ish.

I was on softs..... I think the race will last an hour 6 mins perhaps........

Now to decide what to do in the race!!!! I think that will depend on what happens early on as in the last race.......I hope the rudder of the seamen will be steadfast and every bodies politeness left in the pits?? we shall see......

Should be a fun race anyways regardless the outcome.......always fun racing with you guys......

And I really do miss that I will not be there this summer to see guys at the track (AMP)......

The closest race track to where I am was supposed to be built in 2009 (Active Mountain Raceway) near Kelowna...but the locals protested against the noise....darn.....it would have been a nice roller coaster!!!

Any body want an M3 to trade for a drill rig?

A vehicle is generally built in the calendar year before the model year. So he bought it in September or October 1989 and crashed it (just a guess, but I have known Varga for a while hehehe) on October 31 1989 with 2500 km on the odo.

If you look in August, most dealerships are clearing out their old stock making room for the new stuff, the next years model.
