Hello all,

On Sunday November 11th we will be having an ONLINE 4 hour endurance race. Suggested team size is 2-4 people.
Please be sure the account you are planning to run the event on has the Spa-Francorchamps (Weather) DLC track.

Image

Car Restrictions
-Any PAINTABLE car that can be purchased in the DEALERSHIP
-NASCAR, SuperGT, LMP, etc NOT PERMITTED
-Please post the make/model color (and #) of your car in this thread

Image

Tuning Restrictions:
-All mods and upgraded permitted
-600 PP MAX

Image

Tire Restrctions:
-Any RACE tire (Hard/Medium/Soft)

Image

Event Settings:
-Grid Start with False Start Check
-Grid Order: Fastest First
-Visible Damage: OFF
-Penalty: None
-Race Finish Delay: 180 Seconds
-Mechanical Damage: HEAVY
-Slipstream Strength: Low
-Tire Wear / Fuel Consumption: On
-Grip Reduction on Wet Track / Track Edge: Real
-No ASM
-No Skid Recovery Force
-No Active Steering

PLEASE NOTE
Damage will be set to HEAVY, meaning if you take damage you will need to PIT to repair it.
Visible Damage will also be set to OFF

Red Flag procedure
-When the person rejoins the room the current time index & lap # will be taken.
-No passing is to occur and all cars are to proceed to the front straight but behind the start/finish line.
-In current order, cars will pass the start/finish line to see if any cars are 1 lap behind the leader or more.
-Car order and laps down will be noted for the restart.
-The car that dropped will be placed behind the last place car. (Call this mechanical difficulties).
-The time index or lap count taken will be used to calculate the remaining time/laps of the race.
-Laps maybe added to the remain laps to allow for the lead cars to "relap" the lapped cars.
-The race will be restarted, however the first lap(s) will be used to get the cars into proper order and laps down if needed.
-Once any lapped cars have been "relapped" the first place car will lead as a "pace car" for 1 lap. No cars may change positions until after crossing the start/finish when the race condition is again green.

Bluetooth Headsets Strongly Recommended!
I can't stress that enough! Any Bluetooth headset will work, just make sure to pair it with your PS3. Futureshop has a good selection as well.

Schedule

Sunday November 11th
- 18:30 Qualifying
- 19:00 Race

Prizes

1st Place - Gold
Bragging rights

2nd Place - Silver
First loser bragging rights

3rd Place - Bronze

I suggested the start time of 7pm on Sunday, however this can be adjusted if needed.
IE moved to 1pm for an afternoon race.

Just to clarify, RM cars from the dealership are OK? I am going to try and solo it if there are no objections.

I think 7 would be the best time for a start for me, or later. I have no problem staying up late, but the kids don't go to bed until 7:30.

Doubleday, if you aren't available to race would you be willing to commentate?

Online spectators are welcome, IE you can join the Lounge and watch the race LIVE!
(Provided you have a PS3, GT3 and Spa DLC)

Did some testing last night..... lap times were between 2:10 and 2:20.
So assuming 2:15 average over 4hrs ~ 107 Laps
Accounting for pit stops and possible rain, we're looking at around 100 laps.

I'm going to do a half endurance race tomorrow night, a 2 hour race from 11-12. I should have my car sorted by then!

Any plans on posting teams and cars before the event?

Jason what car did you drive to do a 2:10?

I'll post my car, I'm going to use the RX7 TC, lime green / black wheels, #13

Corners #9 & #11 still like to give me fits, but I'm pretty sure I have the rest sorted out. I'm most comfortable with the RX7, even though I did turn a couple faster laps with other cars. I know I can drive this one 45 laps on the track anyway, that's how many I turned with the car tonight.

I hate turn 11. It's my worst corner.

Just to clarify, I haven't done a 2:10 .... yet.

I did about 2hrs of testing tonight and I can drive high 2:12s consistently (in the dry). However at that pace the tires don't last long.
Our car still needs a bit of tweaking to get all the bugs out, we're going to drive-ability/consistency over sheer speed.

ISS, what's your livery?

Blanchard, what's your team name? Lone Wolf Racing? :)

Also I haven't heard if Team Rust Bucket Racing is entering or not.... I hope so!

Anyone else looking to put together or join a team?
If so post here, and include your location.

I'm just a little bit dense I think. Would you be able to clarify perhaps which cars are acceptable for this race? I don't know the game well enough to choose I think.

Any car that you can buy in the New Car Dealership and can paint.
RM cars included.

Why what car are you thinking?

No but if you bring over your PS3 we can log it in and hear everyone.

Also guys big GT5 update happened last night, 2.09
It changes tire wear and online/offline physics. 8O
(Talk about poor timing)

Apparently offline physics are now identical to online physics.
From what I understand they merged the two physics models. Initial response was "this is bad" however as more people are reporting in, the overall response is positive.

I highly suggest to keep testing your car online, until it's proven 100% that online & offline physics match.

Yeah, great timing...Although, the tire wear changes have me interested. Crank up the tire wear on short races and such. I think that for the distances we are doing, the normal should be fine though.

And as for my team name, I'm thinking Lucky 1, with the green car and #13 and all.

Made up my mind, going with Lucky One... not like it really matters :orglaugh: It would be cool to be able to skin the car the way we want to...maybe for update GT6...

I just did some tests, and they look promising.
First off there are several tire/fuel wear choices, we will be using NORMAL.

I noticed the car seems to understeer more however it oversteers less as well. I confident it can be dialed out with suspension changes.

ONLINE I'm lapping within a 1/10th of a second off my normal (pre-2.09) pace.
OFFLINE I'm still within a 1/10th of my new ONLINE lap times.

So that's awesome IMHO, because now you can use the Data Logger and Ghost Replays to improve your laps and compare them against others.

Finally!

With respect to the headset issue, if someone from your team has a PlayStation Eye, you could use that to mic the whole room.

That's a good idea, but it might be distracting to have an open mic in the room, but still a neat idea.

Anyone wishing to watch the race can join on GT5/PSN and/or feel free to come over to my place.
We should have a second TV/PS3 setup for people to watch and move views around while the race is in progress.
