Won't be there tonight now, sick as a dog. An endurance race will be to long. I'll probably be in bed before you guys even finish.

Have fun.

I won't be on tonight, as I just got home and wouldn't be on for 15-20 mins. You'll be running by then.

Yea we saw you bouncing online/offline, :(

It was a great race tonight, no rain dry the entire time.

It came down to the wire for 2nd and 3rd... I'll let Trevor tell that story.

Sunday we will be doing the Nürburgring 24h (Weather).
It will be a 2hr race, so get your cars setup to tackle the Green Hell!

Looking at the new online races, the 650pp race is a lap of the 'ring, so it may be a good time / place to log some laps on the cars for the next endurance race and make some money at the same time.

That was a great race, i was constantly making up lost time and catching up only to push just that extra tiny bit and put it off the track. Like i said, crashing generally slows you down...

I apologize for turn 1 lap 1, i missed my brake pedal and plowed into someone, and subsequently had to pit on lap 2 for front wheel and engine "trouble"...oh well...i guess "it" happens haha

I was able to get some pretty decent lap times but my strategy for coming into the pits was all over the place (seeing that i didn't have one and thought around lap 15 that i should make one up) and left me with 4/5 laps to go and having to come in for a new set of tires...

I was on Mediums for nearly the whole race until the last couple when i switched to softs to allow me to carry more speed, or what i thought would let me carry more speed...turns out it didn't work all that well.

I should have a mic by sunday though so i'll be in on the conversation, no more controller chat for me!

Once again, great fun.

I did a quick couple laps on the 24 online tonight. I got the understeer pretty much worked out now I think. On racing hards I managed a couple 9:00 flat, and was able to get 4 laps comfortably out of them. I could have been faster, but was concentrating on doing clean laps with no spins or brushes with the walls. Maybe could have pushed for another lap, but I wasn't sure I'd make the full lap. Soft tires are worth a pile more in time, close to a minute, but are used up completely in 2 laps!! We didn't discuss the length of the race, but I'm assuming 2 hours. I think that we'd be looking at only 12 - 14 laps for a 2 hour race seeing as how we'll also be dealing with rain. 14 laps at 8:30 a lap is 119 mins. God that sounds low after doing 50-70 lap races!!!

I'd like to see a pic of the first turn where I got my "mystery" damage! On my screen no-one was around me, and I didn't feel the slightest bump in the wheel, nor did my car shimmy at all, and yet I came out with rear damage! From that, the car pulled hard under breaking, and I lost it and wrecked just before the bridge. Hard to stay into a race when you are 4-5 mins down after the first lap. I won't be doing a race like that on the ring for a long time. I'd do it with a lower powered car, or even a narrower car. I was anticipating rain and added full downforce in the rear, and 30 in the front, and pulled a bunch of power out of it to make it easier to drive under those conditions. It backfired!! I had to much downforce on the front, and the rear was too loose under braking. Then, when I did have a good clean lap, I didn't have the power to keep up! I ran the race at 621pp with less than 530hp.

Anyway, that is how the race from the back looked. I'm sure up front it was much more enjoyable...

Well it wasn't much better from my perspective either, every lap, except two i came off and managed to pop either on, two or more tires, which would then lead to me comming off again later and blowing an engine....so ya...it was a tough one. Not sure what it looked like up front...

Also i apologize for my mic issues, it was working just fine to start and then i'm not sure what happened but i lost all mic sound at one point and then when it came back it was through my speakers, then i couldn't hear what you guys were saying because of my engin noise haha...so i'm sorry if i missed cucial info...

After the race i heard talk of NASCAR, i don't have one now, but i'll look to see what cars are available in the thread and go car shopping when i get back from work.

All in all that was a "love it and hate it" race for me...the track is amazing...amazingly difficult, so narrow, so technical and on the seat of your pants...i just lacked the skill to get through safely...I would run that track again but with lower powered cars, takes some of the fun out i know, but making it around at least 2 or more laps without getting 3/4 through thinking "holy s**t i might actually make it" only to have a rear tire kiss the grass and end it all would make it all worth it...

I think Alex summed it up pretty well for me too. Love it and hate it. I don't have the skills to do more than one good lap at a time. I was well ahead of Alex with 2 or 3 laps left when I had several crashes in a row. This frustrated me badly. I paused it and stepped back for a couple minutes. Not really thinking it through that allowed Alex to catch up and pass me. I unpaused and started racing again but he put together two nice clean laps at the end and I didn't.

I would love to revisit this track with these cars after another month of practice. :)

I was last place going into turn 1, I saw Alex just tap JB a bit and there might have been some slight contact with Varga in the mix as well. Sorry I didn't save the replay.

By the time I had made my way through traffic up to 2nd or 3rd Alek had a nice 17~20 lead. We were lapping at about the same pace. I made a mistake during my first pitstop and fully loaded the car with fuel.

Varga overtook me during my 1st pitstop and when pushing to catch him I slammed into the wall at Berkwerk. I decided to change my strategy and go with soft tires (which means having to pit every 2nd lap). After 1 lap on softs, with Alek still in the lead I did some quick math and determined that even pitting every 2nd lap I would catch Alek by the end of the race. However Varga was an unknown.

Once Varga took the lead I could see I wasn't going to be able to catch him. The difference in our lap times were only 2 seconds a lap most times. His 1min lead (due to my crash) and the fact he was going more than 2 laps between pitstops meant I was not going to catch him.

I eventually caught Alek during one of his pitstops, so sadly there was no on track battle. After another crash (or two) Varga was now over 3mins a head of me, with only 1 or 2 laps left. He was too far to be caught even if he crashed.

I switched to medium's near the end of the race, and with the car nice and light they were the tires to be on. I should have switched earlier in the race, but I still don't think I could have caught Varga.

It's a difficult track, they don't call it the "Green Hell" for nothing. I should have spent more than 20mins tuning my car for the Nürburgring. I found the front a little light in some places (Flugplatz) and the rear wanted to step out at times under braking (Fuchsrohre). Probably due because I softened it up a little too much.

All in all good fun, I'm dreading looking forward to the NASCAR series. However I think 3 nights is going to be more than enough!

If i did tap you Jason i apologize, i didn't feel anything either, and my steering didn't "jerk" but i came out with my front left wheel damaged but i thought i clipped the wall. Once again i apologize :S

Hey, no need to apologize!! We all did that before the green flag, remember, :orglaugh: I wasn't mad at the fact that I had damage in itself, I was mad that I had damage, and according to my screen, nobody hit me, and I didn't hit anything. Racing incidents I understand, lag glitches drive me up the wall!!
