I really like the decals Kevin.....I have a feelin it may be repliceted next year at AMP.....doesn't GT5 serve as good backdrop for designing colours?

Hmmm...sounds like next year could be fun at AMP !

I was just playing around with the decals...never really "mapped" them to the surface of the car but I just bought the 67 Ferrari 330 P4 and I will be abusing that car with decals and track relocation.

It would look great coming thru turn 5 at AMP...

Jason...I downloaded the previous track you shared but I can't locate the new track for Thursday night.

PS...I am close to Scotts times so far...just have to stop crashing in the races so I don't loose 5-10 seconds per lap.

We may need to postpone tonight.

Around 8pm. I'm guessing that it is going to take about 5 hours to do. Sonia is away, however I still have Aster. She is bed by 8pm. I actually plan to start it Saturday afternoon, and get an hour or two in. That may not happen though.

We are now at the midway point.
Varga has a comfortable 34 point lead over 2nd place.
McIntyre is strongly holding onto 3rd place.

Newcomer JasonB is trailing Paul by 6pts for 4th.

The real battle is for 6th place, with Harrod, Steve and Kevin all within 5pts of each other.

That was a blast at Indy! Both in the Spec Miata race and the NASCAR "bonus" race at the end! I'm slowly getting the handle on that Miata, even though I'm still way off Varga. I think I'm running less downforce and more HP then everyone else, so that would explain why I am having trouble keeping up in the corners.

I've got 210hp, +5kg ballast and 20/32 for downforce, if that helps.
At Indy I couldn't get my car to 480pp, I ran with 475pp 100% engine and no rear wing.

Varga is an odd ball He's running with a supercharger and short shifting like a madman (watch the replays).

Truth be told if you're running 480pp car control and your racing line will make the biggest difference. Obviously on a highspeed track, run less downforce but other than that just focus on being consistent and your line.

This is what I don't really like about what we are doing with these PP races.
Just my opinion, I'd rather we use a true spec car.
For those who don't have time to test every possible combo, its a pretty big disadvantage at some tracks, not all it seems, but at some the gap can be massive.

There is no way to do a true spec series without restriction all modifications (like we did for the NASCAR race last night). Honestly I like fiddling with my suspension to get the car setup the way I like it.

I've done the tests for XXXpp, and on most courses regardless of how I reach XXXpp I run nearly identical lap times (easily within a second).

I can't speak for everyone, but the only thing I change between tracks is transmission settings and the occasional downforce adjustment (like Indy last night).

Varga is winning the races because he's putting in more practice time than anyone else IMHO. With the cars so close if someone screws up they fall behind fast. Drive clean and consistent and you'll place well.

Working on setup is part of any online racing, especially in more realistic simulators (i.e. iRacing). I prefer it that way. It gives people with less driving skill a chance to bridge the gap (if they wanna invest the time into it). Otherwise we might as well all race Mario Kart.

But as Jason said, the biggest factor is finding the best racing line and running clean & consistent laps. Whenever I have an off, I immediately fall back to mid-pack or less and can never fully recover. But if I keep it on track and on the proper race line (rarity) , I can usually keep up near the front.

I might spend 10-15 minutes working on car setup at the beginning of a series, then never touch it again (except transmission). Not a huge time investment.

Then if I have the time, I'll try to get a 1/2 dozen practice laps around each track before we race, just to figure out the best line / braking points for the car. This usually pays the biggest dividends for me.
