The Bluenose Navex rally is scheduled for May 22 2021. This is early so I hope the roads are dried up.
I have been working on the route. I had about 220 Km. set up and went for a drive Feb 11. Everything looked great and the ice and snow covering really smoothed out the ruts on the gravel roads. One road that I wanted to use has become a logging trail that I am not comfortable using.
I spent a couple of days making a reroute on the map to avoid that logging road, and for Valentine Day took Charlotte for a drive. I went back on Monday and found a new transit to end a section. I like the new route , 250 km, and I have started on the timing to checkpoints.
I have plans to have the novice route about 50 km shorter. More updates to follow.

Well we are still confined to our own areas. Nothing cross border or outside of your community.
I have the rally postponed to June 27. This replaces the Batans rally on the schedule.
I will keep fingers crossed. If it has to be delayed further we will run into all groups looking for dates.
In case you have never tried a navigational rally here is a quick explanation.
There will be a pre-registration. Because everyone follows the same instructions they must be printed ahead of time. Show up at the start with a full tank of fuel. Let the folks at registration know you are here. There will be a short information meeting for all about 30 minutes before the start. The experienced crews start first. All cars line up in their start order and are given their instructions 1 minute before the start. As the experienced crews start there will be a novice school, explaining what to expect and how to follow the route. The first part of the rally is an odometer check. There are no checkpoints in this section. It is there so you can compare your odometer readings to the organizers. As you follow the route you will come across a checkpoint. It will be a car parked with a checkpoint board resting on the rear bumper. You drive past and park. One crew member goes back and gets their route card filled in.
It shows the time you drove past the board. You are given 2 minutes to get back in the car and continue.
The scoring is done at the end of the rally. 1 point per minute early or late.

Hi Pidge,

We'll be there as competitors unless something goes pear-shaped between now and then. Today's provincial COVID report holds promise. Let me know if you're short on CP crews though.

The rally has been postponed to a later date. Hopefully at the BAC meeting this month we can discuss a date and how to move forward.

Hey Pidge,

Disappointing but understandable. We'll look forward to a future date.

The route was gone over by Martin Gillis and he only had a few choice words for me.
The leaves are turning color to add to the wonderful views along the way.
See an ASCC hill climb on the way to Harbourville.
Looking for a few more entrants to make it more exciting.
We have 7 cars so far.
