Is there a schedule somewhere for the event?
FWIW I booked a room for $104+tax. Don't know if they'll group us together or what

Come on Steve, give us a chance. For this event you're only allowed studying the course map for 6 hours MAX.

No joke, I walked the nationals course 5 times each morning. And watched video at lunch time. I didn't walk AMP and slaughtered cones.

On that note. Maybe we should recreate the nationals course. We'd have room on the concrete for it. :slalom:

Pre-marked the course yesterday. Course maps should be available Friday.

Is it possible to just participate in the test and tune on Friday? I have a friend or two that are potentially interested in trying out the course but are a but timid to enter the actual competition on the weekend. Also is it possible to just participate on Saturday? There is a large car show on Sunday and there are a couple folks who'd like to try slalom and still be able to participate in the car show Sunday.

Yes you can just enter one day (Saturday or Sunday). I'll double check about just running the T&T. Generally, that's a no.

Let me say as a relative newbie, that the Test and Tune is more intimidating than the competition day. Less structure, less guidance, more cars going every which way, less clear course. Bring your buds on Saturday and they'll get a whole lot of help, the chance to walk the course multiple times while listening to the pros talk, plus the chance to watch the course get run at close range while cone chasing.

I disagree, the T&T is the absolute best place for a newbie as long as they let the organizers know. Simple course, lots of people willing to ride along and help out, and he's not trying to navigate a huge course like slemon without any prior experience. There are LOTS of regular competitors who are willing to show new people around. If I was there this weekend I'd volunteer. Don't turn people away!

This X10

Plus:
-Last year during the slemon T&T you could easily get 15-20 runs in, which is what new people want/need
-You can convince other people to come out with you/drive your car/take you with them in their cars and give you pointers

Results have been posted on the ARMS web site:

http://www.armsinc.ca/2016/09/2016-regi ... 5-results/
http://www.armsinc.ca/2016/09/2016-regi ... 6-results/

Updated Championship Standings:

http://www.armsinc.ca/solosport/autosla ... standings/

Double checked the results for Street Touring. The results were correct however the computer apparently can't sort properly. First place in Street Touring was Greg S. Second place was Ben E. Apologies for the mix-up.

If there are any other errors, let me know.

Tough weekend, hard to get any front end bite for us stock fwd guys. Poor tires took a beating on the sidewalls lol

Darlene was taking photos. She was going to send some to me to put on the MMSC web site. Probably post some on the MMSC facebook page as well.

Tell me about it! I corded two on my final run. But I guess ~100 runs on a set of dedicated tires isn't so bad.

Great weekend for sure! No idea what I'm going to do for the rest of the season though :-S

Does the concrete favor certain tire formulations over others? I ran R888s (worn, but not bald) for the test and tune and had no grip but the NT05's I ran on Sat/Sun felt like they were bolted to the tarmac (as much as can be reasonably expected on a 3500 lb mullet car anyway).

We were wondering about that as well, but we'd need some more people for better data. Matt S walked away with it on RE71R's, and Josh J and Mark C had good speed on the same tires. Both Ben and I found decent speed on Rival S', as well as Brian in the M3. I doubt tires really were the final say here.

For next year, If my memory survives that long, I'll add more camber to the car all around. I ran ~2.5 deg up front and 1.5 rear, and never had any real issues with shoulder wear up until this event. After slemon though, there's no outside shoulder at all left on any tires. My probe measured the outside shoulder only around 5 degrees C hotter than the inside, at worst. I figured i'd see a bigger difference given the level of abuse they saw. Oh well. At least all you RE71R guys are lucky and can flip your tires on the rim, us BFG guys are stuck with the damage!

I found pressures very different on the concrete. I think I normally ran 34-36 PSI on asphalt. Then forgot to lower my pressure Saturday at Slemon one year and was amazed at how much grip I had. Could not figure out why i had so much more grip from Fridays test and tune. Then the light bulb when off and I remembered I jacked the pressures Friday night for Saturday. Found out I was at 40 PSI front and 42 PSI rear. Few other people talked to me and raised there pressures and found it very helpfull as well. Just something to try next time..

Also Greg, Try flipping them. See what it does. My bet.... nothing. I have run RA-1s, R888s, and Nt-01s (half-tread or less) all in reverse direction or inside on the outside. Found no change in lap times. Pretty sure I am leaving time out there, but believe I am pushing hard enough to notice a difference in the tires flipped.
Also if you want to never worry about if you can flipped your tires to get the best edge...... Buy Hoosiers.........do it.... buy them, love them and win......

I'm on RE71R's, I was all over the map pressure wise. I had wanted to experiment on Friday but couldn't make it in time. So I started the event 5 psi higher all the way around. The car chattered and hopped across the concrete at that psi. I ended the weekend with my fronts back at my normal pressures but kept my rears at +5 and fought understeer the whole time. My tires are now worn down to the tops of the B in Bridgestone. The car just sits too high, is not stiff enough, and has no camber to help. Works decently on asphalt but not so good on the worn out dirty concrete of Slemon.

My in car video sounds like a bad porn movie. We would need a waiver for me to post it here.
