I have sent PMs out tonight. Very sorry for the delays. I have 11 of the 12 spots full. Still a few weeks to go. Wondering when I should pull the civic out of the garage and tell it I love it again. It even has a new part. Well new to it part. Someone elses junk really. Its not installed, but hey I bought something for it, and I am going to paint that part.... maybe....

I need to take the car for a little drive to get my mind back into it. While it was a easy winter, I find myself running low on go right now. Only thing I am into is our chumpcar. Witch I hope will make a appearance this year at a few autoslaloms. Lets get this thread going a bit. Who has some old video from last year? or 10 years ago.... Steve hows that PP GTI going. Any cheater parts yet??????

No cheater parts for me! I'm broke after paying for the car haha. Just wheels and tires, and a rear sway bar. Need to relearn how to drive a fwd, diff is really nice though.

Maximum steering angle with maximum throttle. What could go wrong?

I'm pretty sure I saw that Scirocco explode two weeks ago. And somehow keep running afterwards.

Here's my winter/spring project for lapping on a budget. A 1995 ACR that needed a lot of love when I first got it. The body was relatively rust free, but just about everything else wasn't. New fuel lines. Brakes are all new except the booster/pedal assembly. CuNi hard lines to all four corners (no more lines with 3 unions), rebuilt calipers (with plastic pistons 8O ), Hawk HP+ all around. Old chips/cigars have been removed to make it lighter. A used set of Koni Yellow's with stock springs to replace the Canadian tire specials. An aluminum oil pan from a second gen neon. Seats from second gen Tiburon. Two set of used R888's on 15" steelies. As long as the engine doesn't explode within the first 20 minutes of driving i'll be happy

And soon to be my friends car. Trying to convince her to take it to the track/autocross

Greg, although it is the same former owner of the Scirocco that you saw, assuming that you meant at the rallycross, different car I am pretty sure. This one was Turbo'd and was a rocket when working right!

Pretty sure your right Brian. I think the black one meet a wall maybe at AMP, or some VW kids killed it. The one Greg saw would be the old pharmasave racecar that Steve ran. I think that car has a lot of wheel weights on it...... in it....... Steve P help me here. Wear were the wheel weights.....

I think Steve owned all the Scirocco. The RallyX one had a minor fan failure / coolant in the clutch inspection / timing hole problem. It was just cranky from being woken up and is happier now.

Wheel weights in it... something about that car makes sense now, hmmm.

Yeah, that wasn't the one that met the wall, that was a different one yet again. He bought that one, built the one Tim has now, and the black one in the above video was only used in solo II. (Aging us there!).

So my original one was the old Hillcrest Scirocco. That car was lost in a crash around 2001 or 2 down in turn 7. No walls there. I did find the front straight wall with my old mk1 GTI though. I found a replacement Scirocco street car in Terence Bay and that became the green Pharmasave car that went to New Brunswick and is now back with Tim.

The black one I picked up from Steele VW around 02 or so. It originally was a 1.8 8v, and ended up having a few different engines in it, including the 2L 16v turbo seen in the video. It was stripped and caged with coilovers and a good diff. Weighed nothing and had good power. I messed around with that car for about 5 years in between trips away for work. I would come home and rig it up until it would run, drive it for a week and then head out on the road again. Come home and it would be dead, fix and drive again lol. I finally took it to California with me with the plan to finish the build. Got too busy out there and that never happened so I brought it home and eventually sold it to a guy in Bedford who wanted the drivetrain. The chassis is still around down the South shore I think. I see it for sale every once in a while, still looks pretty solid.

There may have been some extra ballast in the right rear of that car lol. Still couldn't catch the cheater motors in the Vantage cars though.

I haven't done much this year, but I will issue a pre-emptive apology to the courseworkers: sorry about your ears.

Image

Also getting real fancy with my brakes.

Image

And I went back to the stock intake manifold so my car is slower. I've already got the excuses ready!

ST is for all the loud cars. With the E36 moving around classes, what will you be running this season? should we just call it STR because that's what it will eventually be/should be?

See everyone there hopefully. Just brought the Crx home tonight. Now to get it ready to go and clean the battery box full of peanuts and glove box full of confetti left by the critter who apparently called it home for the winter.. :x

Well just 1 week to go. School has been full for a while now, and I am still adding names to the waiting list. I think next year we might have to look at doing a school in the morning and the afternoon. Then run a Test and tune another day. but that only happens if time allows in the schedule. We are planning to have a school on the friday in digby this year. Help people get comfy with the higher speeds and longer runs digby gives us.

Anyone signed up for the school, if you find out you cant make the school this sat please send me a message. We have lots of people who are waiting. For anyone coming to the Test and Tune, Be prepared. It sounds like it will be a very very busy day. If a lot of people show, we might break into run groups. If not, we might use the chip system we ran in digby.

We could use a few people in the morning as well to chase cones during the school. So if you are free and looking for something to run after, come on out in the morning and grab a cone or 12.

Congratulations to the organizing committee for a well run school and test and tune. I am amazed at how you got 60 participants thru with 3 runs each all in one afternoon. I was afraid some people would only end up with a couple runs, but no you made sure we all got our runs in. Thank You.

It was a great day, both weather wise and for all the participants. Thanks to everyone that showed up for the test and tune, to Joel for organizing the slalom school and to all the regulars that showed up to help out with teaching and running the school.

It was pretty awesome that we were able to get 3 runs in for all participants, all within 3 hours. I will make sure to get some ink for our printer so we can get the reports straight from the timing system rather than writing them out by hand in the future!

Hope to see most everyone back for our first competition at the same lot on May 14.

Nice pics Gord, thanks.

Every time I head towards the start line I fire up my Gopro and grab 45 seconds of unedited banter with Joel. I watched my vids back tonight and had to chuckle with the complete nonsense that goes on waiting at the line. Thanks for the laughs Joel.

Given he had FTD (and quite frequently does at that venue) I'm pretty sure he has just the right amount of rear sway for his driving style....haha. It looks ridiculous, but it works.

He definitely makes it work, I've just never seen a Honda hoist its leg THAT much. Even the top tier ITRs just do a little bit of lift. Clearly it suits him though.

I think Ben had fastest time but hit cones every run. I think Scott had FTD with no cones followed by me. I think he had me by .2 of a second.

Big thanks to everyone who came out and helped or instructed. Makes the day go smooth. Sorry for the yelling tring to get everyone's radio on for the test a tune to start. Looking at 60 cars and 3 hours had me a bit on edge. I was very happy with how it all played out. I think we're going to have to try and do a full test a tune day next year and another day run 2 schools.

Steve I can only imagine what all I was rambling on about lol. Just happy you were out and plan to run more this year. Would like to see more racers coming out and doing slaloms. I truly believe a racer who can run competitively in autoslalom will be a better racer.

The only reason Ben sets his car up like this is so he can take passengers at AMP and give them a heart attack when he gets sideways through 7. I still have nightmares

Thanks to Joel and the team again, great job having things run so smoothly for the amount of people we had.
