Most significant changes I noted are that harnesses other than OEM now expire based on defined cycles. (SFI 2 year FIA 5 year - read the rules for the fine print)
Changes also removed non OEM style DOT approved harnesses from eligibility.

The time attack regs state that a 4pt (most are DOT) is still allowed.

I know with the Schroth I have it states what cars are "approved".

Except the para it is in is supposed to be about 3 and 4 strap systems. So based on this, would a 4 strap Schroth be legit, but adding a sub strap would make it need to comply with the three standards and expiry dates? I can't even tell anymore. Wish people who knew how to read rules also wrote them. Including para 1.3 iii and iv in the section discussing 3 and 4 strap systems confuses it more.

I think I'm reading it the same as you, Brent. 3/4 points are fine as long as there's no cage and there is paperwork. 5/6 points need a cert/expiry. Kinda makes sense since I'm thinking Schroth makes the only 4 point that has homologation paperwork. It has an anti-sub feature but that feature makes it dangerous for roll-cage installations.

They could have probably worded it a bit better, but rules and specs are always worded in the worst way possible.

My guess is they were trying to remove DOT harnesses and enforce expiry dates, but screwed up the wording. Regardless, interpretation is not easy.

I was looking at the Schroth FIA approved four point for my Subaru. If you add a different buckle, it gets DOT approval as well. (DOT requires a reddish rectangular push button labeled "PRESS" for street use).

I do hope they re word this section. If the para is about how to use three and four point harnesses, then the five and six point wording should be removed.
