No problem! Registration will still be accepting cars up to 75 competitors :P

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, it was a wicked long day at the site today which included ...I kid you not, kids throwing a grocery cart off an overpass at me 8O in one of my 5tons after supper. All that practicing going around stuff today really helped!

Ladies and gentleman that day has arrived!

NBSCC is proud to bring you something never before attempted at an Autoslalom event, drum roll please!

For live timing results click here:

http://www.nbscc.org/p/live.html

Just click on the above link with your smartphone ...or just go to http://www.nbscc.org and click the link in the 1st post. Special thanks goes out to Charles and Steve for this great addition that allow competitors to see where they stand without having to go to timing and scoring over and over.

Thanks
Stacy

Sorry for all the technical issues and having to take down the live results. When we tested it with a couple of people accessing the Google spreadsheet it worked well. But once everyone started loading the page/spreadsheet, things started acting funny. So instead of posting incorrect times, or messing something up we decided it was better to take it down. :-(

63 competitors!

Wow! if I wasn't so tired I'd embellish even more
...but I'll have to leave it at "wow" for now :cwm3:

Thanks everybody for making it a great event!

Stacy, I wish I could have made it 64. But I had to work. Excellent showing with 63 competitors! Good stuff!

With each of the two run groups running in under 2 hours each, threw in an unscheduled lunch break, and finished an hour early :D

You might have made it back in time for work after all?

Great day today. Really awesome to see so many cars out in SJ, and it was nice to not have to drive an hour or more to an event for a change!

Really great job by Adam and Stacy. From securing the lot, to getting things to run so smoothly, that was an impressive task and you two did an excellent job!

Here's a bit of video from my fourth run. I drove conservatively by my standards, but it was still a fairly good result - very tight course!

Great event! Thanks NBSCC. Can't believe there was over 60 competitors! A lot of spectators too. I saw people I haven't seen in ten years there. It was almost like a NBSCC 10-year reunion. ;)

The course was pretty slow (due to the last minute restrictions imposed by the property owners), but it had a good flow it you chose the correct line. It was surprisingly technical, but easy to follow for the newbies. I only recall one O/C the whole day.

Here's my 4th and best run of the day (50.7xx)

I had Harry's LapTimer on my phone, but haven't quite figured it out yet, so no video with data overlay overlay. But the data logs said my max speed of the day was 64 KPH.

That's a great point
It was really nice to see so many competitors with so few O/Cs. As far as I know the only O/C was from carrying too much speed and missing a turn, rather than from getting lost

Just came across this:

http://stanceeast.com/2014/06/01/event-coverage-autocross-saint-john/
Quote:
Event Coverage: Autocross Saint John

Posted by Will Northrup on June 1, 2014

If there is one email topic we get a lot of its requests for a more active blog. So in return we have the whole summer planned out for local event coverage. To kick it off we hit up the local Autocross event here in Saint John New Brunswick.

Saint John is not the first place that comes to mind when you think of having a large car culture, but waking up in the city to the noise of angry rotaries and big V8′s can easily put a smile on a car guys face. Taking a walk down to the water it was easy to tell where all the excitement was coming from, people lined the shore line as well as the fences all around the event.

Lined up at the event was everything from your run of the mill Honda Civic to R8′s, Vipers, 240′s and more. If you ever have the chance to check out your local Autocross event surely you wont be disappointed.

Adam had a meeting with the Port of Saint John yesterday and they were very impressed with the event, the way it was run, and most importantly the safety measures put in place

So restrictions for speed :Nsnail: might be removed if we wish to return :rotate:

However as pointed out to people the day of the event, would you rather an event where you go another 20km/hr faster but done 20sec earlier? (Driving all the way from NS to compete on a 40sec course would suck). Pretty much every good piece of pavement was used for this event and then some. Did anybody notice that some pylons were stragetically placed that forced the cars to stradle pot holes on the back section?

Next time, if there's a next time I could forsee opening up the start area (which was purposely tigthened up to exhibit low speed to the Port security who had orders to "shut us down if we exceed 60km/hr" ...and take advantage of that really cool camber characteristics of the parking lot there) and having some longer run straight stretches doubling back.

Thanks for all (including competitors) that made this a great event! :aetschi1:

Note that we even had four NBSCC members who were part of the club in 1958 8O driving over the Harbour Bridge see the event, and stop in. They like me would like to see a big 50 year celebration for our 50th aniversary (from being incorporated in 1965) next year! :D

My suggestion would be to open it up to 80KPH and have the course loop back on itself for 60-80 second runs.

This. You don't even need to loop the entire course, just the back section, that way you could still get two cars on course as soon as the first car completes the loop.

Scott got FTD with the Locost, Josh was the fastest street car and had the best PAX I think

Did anyone bother to protest DS #25? The guy with the clearly non-stock Subaru? :orglaugh:

Mike I left it alone as he wasn't running a full season, but if I knew he beat my PAX, maybe I would have.

Just wanted to say it was a great event. My guess is it will be the best attended event of the year outside Nationals. Stacy and the guys did a great job. Course was very different from what we normally run. Was well setup and easy to read. Super fun. I would hope we can come back next year. I dont want to say double event next year but i kinda want to suggest 3 double regional events for next year only. Saint John, Digby and PEI. would help get more people to all event. but thats a topic for another day.

Nice

It's hard to pass judgement, given that so few people have attended both regional events, but so far I like the way the scoring system works. Moving forward, our region should end up looking increasingly like the more-populated regions with cars that adhere more strictly to specific classes and maximize the available modifications.

If you're confused now, wait until you get it figured out.

For the ARMS championship, it is based on class grouping (ie all SP cars in one class) and the winner of say SP is determined by pax. Overall championship points are based solely on pax.

ASCC events are done by points in your individual class, and if there are 3 or more per class you can get a full 20 points for winning, and for the overall championship it is all of your class points accumulated. For MMSC I believe it is different yet again, and for Slalom@Slemon it will be different yet again. But really, this stuff is fun! :D

Autocross is intended to be accessible, and it is... Anyone can show up and race
It's certainly not intended to be simple... One look at the scca classifications makes that apparent.
Fortunately you only need to know the specifics if you have a serious interest in pursuing it

Yeah, it was those 20 points that got my attention. I was first of three in ARMS #1, and got 9 points. Anyone?
