I'm registered for the school Sunday/Monday and thought I would be all ready to go with my 09 STi. Today I installed new brake pads and flushed the brake fluid.

Unfortunately a few hours ago I destroyed a tire and bent a rim on a gravel road.

Does anyone have a set of 17/18" tires/rims they would lend/sell? Bolt pattern is 5x114.3

If I can't find another set I have my winters on rims that could be expended, but that would definely not be ideal. My other option could be to bring my old datsun, but its not what I would call track ready right now.

If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Bad timing on this for sure.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

I would try a post on the "wanted" section of this forum. Or maybe kijiji? You could always resell them after this weekend.

I have a set of Mustang 17 inch 5x114.3s with 235/55/17 pirellis on them.
Probably too tall for your Subaru.
How bad do you need them. Are you able to dismount / mount by tomorrow 8am?

Well, had a great day. Thanks to all of the instructors, marshalls, caterers and all the volunteers that make this a great event. Many of you are probably still there with race car practice. It was a ton of fun, I learned a lot, and learned what I need to work on. Like practicing downshifting on the way home.

Now to make sure I can make it to a couple of time attacks this year.

You're right Evan....thanks to the organizers Brian Gay and Joel Nelson for having a great event. 31 students had a dry track and plenty of time to test their tires, brakes and nerves. Thanks too to all the other volunteers Alan and Trevor Gray, Ian Pearce, Brian Partridge, Derrick Clark, the marshals, Mike Barker and all the instructors.

Hope we see you all again this weekend for Region race #1....

Had a blast today! I learned a lot and managed to stick to the pavement... which was much dryer than I had anticipated. A big thanks to all the organizers, instructors, and volunteers for ensuring this all went smooth. Hopefully I can make it out to a few sessions this year. I'm planning on coming out next weekend for the race so with any luck I'll see you there.

Fantastic day yesterday, and a big thanks to all of the event organizers for making it possible (and no less thanks to everyone who was there volunteering their time to make it happen)!

Here's a little in-car footage from yesterday. I'll post some more when I have time!

Here's a bit more video:

This is one of my sister's sessions (the 4th, I believe). She's never really done any performance driving, so Monday was all about learning and having a great time (the same as all of us, really). With some great instruction, she very easily met both of those goals! Booyah achieved!

And here is some more video from a different perspective in my car. Sorry my windshield is filthy!

Awesome videos above. I will bringing my Speed3 to the BMW schools this summer. Will be nice to drive something with power.

Still, my old girl was a blast!

Your line is so smooth and consistent! That camera angle also worked out very well!

PS: thanks for letting me use that mount, it was awesome to show my hands, etc. I need to pick up of those up!

No problem.

How was the speed3 for torque steer?

None to report, really. A little through 4 when I'm early on the power and trying to hold the line, and a bit in 9. Either I've gotten used to it, or I am still down a bit on boost (maybe both?). I think being on the Toyo's also make it a lot less noticeable.

Toyos likley helped. Your car farted billows of black smoke in turn 9. Hahaha

Did it really? I was asking people if anyone saw anything because the solenoid was fine when we checked it, so turbo seals were my next guess... Thanks for letting me know. Might have to live with that for a while.

Yeah, i noted black smoke half way between turn in and apex for 9. I suspect you were on boost by that time. Any chance you get black smoke if you idle your car a long time?

I suspect your turbo, but i am no expert on turbos.

Black smoke usually means you're running super rich.
Blue smoke could indicate blown turbo seals.

I'd check your tune.

I can't seem to figure out how to embed video, but I have some gopro footage on my youtube channel here, mostly of my car but the odd glimpse of some others. If you passed the red bmw, you'll probably see yourself on the video somewhere!

What a blast. Too bad the Contour had to blow an axle shaft seal on the 11th hour. Civic did alright I suppose, even with its 640 treadwear tires.
