Hi, I am a student in Halifax and looking try some Autoslalom with my car, or maybe more. I am have never done any Motorsport like this, and never in my car. I am hoping to go to the events I see on the schedule on the 3rd and 10th of May in Halifax. I am sure there are some other new member posts, but I was wondering if some one could give me some pointers leading up to that (other then register with ASCC and show up)?

Thanks.
Keegan

Hi Keegan,
Welcome to the fun! For your first event, show up with your car empty of say, subwoofers in the trunk, everything cleaned out that could roll around in your car, or get caught beneath the pedals, drivers floor mat included. If you are driving on street tires, it is a good idea to add some extra air pressure to them (say 40 psi), and bring a tire pressure gauge to adjust during the event.(It's easier to take air out than put it in, plus you don't want to risk rolling a tire off of the rim). Ensure your car is safe, there is actually a self-tech form on line here somewhere, it should be "stickied" in this section, however, I don't think it is. If you don't feel comfortable checking all of these things on the form, you can get a mechanic to check them for you if you wish. If you have a Snell approved helmet, I believe 00 or 05(Snell sticker is inside the helmet under the foam if there is one)bring that, or if you don't have one, there will be loaners available on site.
And yeah, get your membership and try to class your car ahead of time is a huge help. If you wanted to, there is an ASCC club meeting this Tuesday at 7pm at the Riverside Pub in Bedford. Lot's of people there who can help you get started and answer any (most anyways) questions you may have there.

Thanks, I am not too worried about the tech stuff ('09 Challenger shouldn't be too beat up haha).
I will try to get to that meeting, but I might be busy with school. Is it 7 or 7:30, the website says 7:30?

Thanks
Keegan

7:30 is the start of the meeting, people usually start gathering around 7 for talk and food.

Thanks for the link. But should I really be left foot braking? I have never heard of that racing in a manual.
Thanks
Keegan

Keegan, I was hoping to see you and the Chally out again on the 10th (we had the same instructor at the school), hopefully you can make another event. I know those cars are a a handful, but a ton (or three) of fun to watch!

Hi, William. Unfortunately there was quite a last minute rush to get the FSAE car ready for our Michigan trip. I spent fri-monday moring that weekend working on it. I got about 5 hours of sleep over that time. I plan on going to the next few till the end of June, when I have to go back to Ontario for work.

Thanks
Keegan
