Sony has said the GT5 servers will be shutting down on May 20th 2014.
That means no more online racing with GT5, truly an end of an era.

Personally I had expected them to keep the GT5 servers online for another 2-3 years, however I believe the PS4 has more to do with the shutdown than the release of GT6.
