Sorry for the contact Jason. I thought you were going wide because you were so far left, I know now you were going for the outside inside to burn Varga. I'll do better next time.

What a fun little car to race. Especially with the sports tires! Sorry I couldn't do both races but after moving all weekend, 0530 comes pretty early. See yall wednesday.

To be honest I didn't know you were take close to Varga. I watched him overshoot and was going for the undercut.
Didn't matter in the end since we restarted that race anyways.

I'll try to get them up in the next day or two.

Basically Varga won both races, and cheechoo placed 2nd both races.
Everything after that was messy.... hehe

Well, since exams and major projects are piling. Procrastination took over and this led me to take some picture of the Nurburgring gp/d. Some picture might not be accurate since Varga and I were racing in parallel universes. They're in no particular order.

Nice 3 way battle that lasted around 8-9 laps (from left to right) Alek M, Myself, Jason S

Yea I was drafting you through the high speed turn 12, due to the lack of downforce I dropped two wheels, tried to recover and went across the track into the wall.

But no one was going to catch Varga.....

I do have the wheel unpacked, but I don't yet have my desk set up, so I will be missing tonight as well. Could someone post up the fast times so I can get some laps in later in the week?

Racing hard is a good tire choice for this car. We should switch it up.

I for one find that our current tire choice makes this series more fun, not less.

Thanks for the lap times Varga, although I now realize that I will be coming back to a track that I hate racing at...

Best i could pull at Madrid was a 1:26:xx, but that was a total fluke and i couldn't get that low again, mostly 1:27/8's seem to be a good pace on the Sports Soft.

Totally off the pace at Monaco though

Yeah....looks like I'm missing tonight as well. If you see me online on PSN, I won't be joining the racing, so don't wait for me.

Um, just a reminder that there is no official race scheduled for tonight.
I figured it would be too much to do this weekend with the ARMS AGM and all.

haha, well then. Didn't miss much!! I'm going to pretty much write off this series though, as my son's being born Friday, don't think I'm going to be getting much free time for gaming for a while.

When I started at Madrid I was 2 seconds off the pace.
However after about an hour of practice I was down to 1.27.9s consistantly with a 1:27.5 being my best on Sports Softs. I think there is a 1:26.9 there, but I just couldn't string it together.

Testing Cote D'Azur now....
EDIT: Most laps were 1:42.2s however I did manage a 1:41.7

I'm still not 100% happy with the setup, but it's getting better.

With the new GT5 tire physics being the same it's nice to be able to practice offline and use the ghost to improve your lap times.

I got off to a good start at Madrid, beating Varga to turn 1 thanks to his Webber quality start.
We then had a restart to let Steve in the room. I had another good start.
I heard on the chat that there was an incident either on lap 1 or 2 and some cars were damaged, Varga included.

Alek was hot on my bumper, never more than 0.5 seconds behind me, so I had to drive defensively and was losing time.
On lap 12 or 13 we passed a backmarked (who to his credit got well out of the way), but I got on the gas too early and nearly lost it. I managed to save it, but now Alek was right beside me. He out braked himself into the final chicane and hit the wall. This was the breathing room I needed. With 11 laps left, Varga was 22 seconds behind me. My tires were poor, but I knew that if I pitted Varga would pass me. I made the decision to stay out. The next few laps were the critical ones, I was only loosing a 1/10th or two per lap to Varga. Then the tires hit the cliff and the gap started to close, I was loosing 2-3 seconds a lap. However I had done enough and was able to win with a 5 second gap. Very close.

It was decided to run Racing Hard tires for Monaco.

I started near the back of the pack at Monaco (reverse grid) and I decided to "hang back" and let the lap 1 carnage happen, problem is that it didn't happen. Varga was behind me, and I decided to go for another long haul, so I didn't fight him too much.... I wanted to save my tires. A few laps later Varga and Steve had an incident and I passed them while they were in the pits.

I suddenly found myself in 2nd place behind Cheechoo. He was pulling a gap of around 1 second per lap on me. I wasn't going for all out speed, I was trying to make it to the end of the race on 1 set of tires. After a number of laps, I saw the gap stopped growing, and then started shrinking fast. I think he hit the wall and had to pit for damage. I was now in the lead.
I held the lead until lap 21 or 22 when Cheechoo passed me on track with fresher tires. Varga passed me on the next lap and I could see Alek closing in. I really thought I could hold onto the last podium spot for the last lap. However Alek's tires were much newer and he easily out braked me into turn 5. Surprisingly I immediately retook the position at the hairpin. However he again used his superior grip to outbrake me into the chicane after the tunnel, and that was all she wrote. In the end we all finished the 45min race within 14 seconds of each other.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I was the only person to run each race without a pitstop. I think I brushed the wall once in Monaco, but took no damage.

Going back to the tire debate for a moment, should we stay with the Racing Hards, or go back to the Sports Softs?
What are your thoughts?

I played more 360 than ever after my son was born - I had to be accessible at all times (so I couldn't go get greasy under the car or head to the gym) but still needed to keep myself occupied during downtime
You'll probably get to start lots of races but only get to finish a few :P

3rd kid, so I know all about having to stay close!!

Looks like I'm missing a good series! I'm going to try to make practice tonight, but I did just get my wife and son home from the hospital today. I haven't even hooked up the wheel to the PS3 since I moved into the new house. This place is so damn quiet, I'm going to have to invest in a quieter wheel to keep the kids from waking up! I will be on at some point, but not likely until after 8-8:30 anyway.

Trying to keep a hard to handle car on the track with a wheel that won't stay mounted is no fun!! I'm going to be staying off the track until I can get something better figured out. Probably won't happen before Christmas though, to much other stuff going on. I will try to be back for the Bullrun.
