Was that Fuiji GT or F that you were turning 1:46's on? I'm going to have to spend some more time with the car, I seem to be a full second or more behind the time you are posting. The car does feel good though.

My colors have now changed as well, Green CarGold wheels or Red wheels

Fuiji GT - 1:45.9 on Softs and 1:47.2 on Mediums.

Over the weekend I didn't do any driving but I did "upgrade" my PS3 racing seat.
Not much really, just painted it flat black, added a seat cover, glued "rubber grip" to the laptop & keyboard spots and added a cup holder 8)

I'm hoping to get a racing seat built soon, this is the last week of me being in this house, we are moving into the new spot in a week, and I'll have the room for one in there. I was running GT as well, and could only get 1:47's and 48's on softs. I think I an losing the time getting into the corners, through the center and coming out I'm good, but the turn in may be able to use some work. I'm redlined in 6th at the end of the straight and have the gears spaced the way I like them. Most likely it's just the driver!!

(Edit) I did get down to a 1:46.1, but I still have a bit of a front push. Consistent 1:46.5-6's.

If you only have a "bit" of front push you're doing better than me.

BTW here's a pic of my seat. It's on wheels that lock, and the two "arms" detach so it can be stored easily.

Also just a reminder that tomorrow night will be the first official practice session for those that would like to join.
7:30pm in MerlinRPM's Lounge

I won't be able to make it so please remember to properly setup the physics in the lounge.

I maybe online tonight around 8pm if anyone is interested.

I'm going to have to spend every min of tomorrows practice, i seem to be able to get 1:48.6XX on Mediums. Trying to get the car broken in as well. All in all the FR-S seems to be pretty solid, but i am having trouble getting rid of some understeer without straying into oversteer ground...haven't found my sweet spot yet...

New seat seems to be helping, best was a 1:45.3
Managing consistent 1:45.5s, however I don't think the softs will last 20 laps.

EDIT: I should note that the 1:45.3 was with the rear wing set to 5 (which is it's lowest setting).
I tried without the rear wing (as some have suggested) and it did give me about 12kph faster on the main straight, but I guess I lost time through Coco Cola and/or 100R.

Going to weird running in a pack again tonight!

So, for the practice format, is it just going to be a free-for-all? I was kind of thinking about having a tuning session for 45 minutes then a 3-5 lap sprint race to see what the car feels like in a group, then move to the next track and do the same. At the end of the night then there is a half hour plus of time for everyone to work on the track that is the most difficult for everyone.

I'm quite willing to do a free for all as well, just thought I'd put up what I was thinking! "See" everyone tonight online!

I'm not online, but Steve & Alek were in my lounge at 7:30. Remember if you "friend" me you will need to log out of GT5 and log back in to be able to join my lounge.

Good practice tonight! My "guess" tune seems to be a great starting point. I'll have to pick up a mic later this week. What type of mic does everyone use?

I'm using an old blue tooth headset, but I'd recommend better than what I have! I had a good time tonight, it was good to be back in a pack racing, although getting major damage in the first couple turns in both races was a little bit of a downer. One my fault, and one I got caught up in, so it evens out!

For those who don't know, I'm Rascusfinkus, driving a bright Green FRS with Red wheels.

I was really impressed that 10 people showed up for practice tonight. I hope we get that many or more for Sunday!
Good to hear some old and new voices on the chat!

I'm MerlinRPM and I'll be driving the Matte Black w/ Red rims BRZ (or possibly WR Blue BRZ w/ Gold rims... hehe)

Did anyone happen to grab a quick transmission setting for Fuji GT and/or Suzuka?
(For those who won't be practicing)

I'd say you've got a very good setup, you were pretty damn quick.

As far as a headset, any bluetooth mic will do, however I use the Sony 7.1 Headset.

Hey man, don't worry about it! As I said, in the first race, I did almost the exact same thing, touched the dirt with the outside rear, spun into the center of the turn, and took someone out. Only real difference between the two was I was mid-pack and bounced off the wall and slid back into traffic, and you were at the rear and took me out directly. That is the one issue I have with racing a sim in an in car view, no peripheral vision to see something coming, just all of a sudden, BANG!!

I'll be on practicing some more this week, as I now know just where I need to make up speed. Anytime anyone sees me in my lounge online, feel free to jump right in, you'll get to see how much faster you are than a strong mid-pack car!!

Was good at Fuji, but 2 seconds off at Suzuka. I think gearing was 270 at Fuji but that wasn't enough for the draft. Suzuka I believe I knocked it back to 260 and it was ok although 3rd was not ideal through the esses.

Gearing is the only change I made to the car. I find the tuning to be largely a placebo effect in this game.

Ideally I would like to find a small headset to use with my AKG headphones. I'll have something for Sunday. Me and Michael were just practicing Fuji some more when I realized I've hardly ran Suzuka... oppps. Adjusted a few corner entries and ran a 1:44.3 on Fuji

Edit: As far as the rear wing I am running the highest setting. Also found running a fair amount of toe-in helped but it might just be in my head. I know little of suspension.

You must know a bit to be hitting 1:44.3's!! Best I've been able to hit is a 1:45.5, and I was a good 2 seconds back at Suzuka. The car felt really good, and really stable, but I guess I'm going to have to get right on the ragged edge to get up to the front....more tuning time is in order I guess. Although, when I ran Suzuka I discovered after the race that I had put enough miles on the car the the oil change got me 18hp. This is my third oil change on the car, I didn't forget to do it in the first place.

I'd be willing to guess that 44.3 is in the draft.

There is no draft in practice..... only in races.

EDIT: Actually there is now drafting in practice as Harrod and I found out tonight.

It was in the lounge when doing a 7 lap race with Michael. Do you mean drafting down the straight? I'm willing to share my tune if its allowed and anyone is interested in it.

If you were in a race, then yes drafting is possible.
However in just free practice (IE before the race starts) there is no drafting.

EDIT: See above

And yes by all means sharing tunes is more than allowed it's encouraged.....
