Who can give a brief summation of the Lobster Rally?

Start locations, length, years, etc etc.

And go!

Man I have no idea where EWRC scrapes its data from, its got some scary stuff. Didn't realize it had stuff that old on there.

The Entries/Finishing ratio for the Lobster is scary if accurate.

The film the rally master is very good, at the time we were all talking about it. Used to show it at nearly every BAC (burlington autosport club) meeting.
I ran the Lobster in 1984 , July 21 st to be exact. One week after the Dartmouth highlands rally. Finished 11th out of 22 starters. Stayed at the wikiwack? campground in Shediac between the rallies. Could not afford to go out as I needed to pay a garage to repair the exhaust. Learned my life lesson re credit cards heading back to Ontario afterwards. They would call and check if your charge was $ 50 or more.
We put in $ 49 of gas at every stop.
Good times,

I was there and probably have some photos of the event. I also co-drove for Jacques Besner, (Jean-Sebastiens Dad) in his first event at the Lobster Rally in the early 80's. 1986 maybe?

Ironically I found an Amateur Radio article that states the 1986 event was the last in it's then "current" form.

Neat.

I was there for one of them, probably the last one..

What I remember off the top of my head is the 85 Corolla winning with an external draped over the fender odometer cable... old school even for the old days

Team GNUs RX7 complete with/avec AC

Getting a leaf spring for a Maine based team with a dodge colt in a sussex scrapyard and having it installed in time for them not to be DQ (39 seconds remained iirc)

Whitehead and Pidge lost a clutch in early stages

The rest is fogged by time and the alcohol that flowed back then

I got pictures somewhere
