Rally Cross- June 13th 2015
Miller Rd (off the Old Guysborough Rd in Devon, NS).

Cost: 25$ per driver (entry fee includes a route book, event insurance, champagne podium & the ability to rally on a sweet road!)
Registration: email cindy.a.spencer@gmail.com if you plan to attend so there are enough route books/entry forms at the rally cross. Only a few extras will be on hand. Even if you decide Friday night before the event, just let me know!

The stage length is approximately 2km. It will be on smooth gravel with some nice straights and twisty sections.

There will be 6 stages in total. The service break after the first three stages will be a minimum of 45min, however may be longer depending on the number of competitors.

Maximum two drivers per vehicle. Co-drivers are recommended.

Schedule for the day:

09h00- Registration/Service Area Opens

09h30-10h00- Co-driving School- for those new to co-driving or want to learn how to co-drive, this short school will give you an introduction to the basics. If you will be using a co-driver for the event it is recommended that both the driver and co-driver attend the school.
010h00- Driver's meeting (mandatory for all drivers/co-drivers)

010h30- (or immediately following the driver's meeting) A drive through of the course

011h00- First Car starts

016h00- Last Car finishes (this is a rough estimate, it could be shorter or longer depending on number of competitors)

016h30- Podium

Cars will be run one at a time thru the course. Each car will start immediately after the preceding one finishes and the course is deemed safe.

There will be a champagne podium for the top three drivers in each class (4WD and 2WD, there will be no differentiation between production or open for the podium).

I will need a few volunteers, if you are interested or know anyone willing to volunteer for the day send me an email (cindy.a.spencer@gmail.com).

Forgive me, I'm not up on what rally cross means in Canada these days, is this a performance event that requires a cage?

RallyCross rules allow point to point roads to be used with stage safety and speed concessions. No cage or extra gear required.

I Don't think I'll have the Rav4 back together by then but I hope this is going to be a regular thing!

Chris, you can check out the Canadian Association of Rally Sports rules on their website for more details. Section 28 is the Rally Cross rules.
http://www.carsrally.ca/index.php?optio ... 70&lang=en and click on the 2015 CARS Rule Book.

Any questions... let me know!

If two people wanted to drive and co-drive(navigate) for each other in the same car, is that allowed?
Or is it considered an unfair advantage to the person who co-drove(navigated) first then drove on their second run?

You could look at it that way.... but this is entry level rallying. There are lots of people this weekend that are driving and co-driving for eachother, so yes.... it is allowed on Saturday.

I am sure you are all wondering how to get there so.... here are the directions!! This is just one way of many... so if you know how to get to Miller Rd already... follow all the directions after 15.91km (i.e. turning onto Miller Rd). Please be respectful when traveling on this road. There may be ATV/Dirtbike traffic, and there are plenty of lovely potholes, so drive with care!

Zero your odometer as you turn right onto the Oldham Rd just past the Enfield Autobody Sign in Enfield.

At 3.95km there is a Sharp natural right.
At 8.08km Turn Left (Sign indicates highway 212 East, Elderbank)
At 15.91km Turn right (Sign indicates Miller Rd).
At 17.48km, keep to the left.
At 18.44km, Tee Right
At 20.13km Keep Left
At 21.10km Keep Left
21.79km Bridge.

Continue straight until you see us... there will be a service area on the left.

If you haven't already RSVPd... please do so!!

Good way to practice for Sunday's NavX! Pretty stoked for a weekend of rally!

Today was so much fun! Good fast course and a really interesting way of running things.

Only two unplanned service visits for myself and one tick!

The champagne podium was such a fun idea too!

Thanks to everyone who made it happen!

Nice, I think it's time I replaced the truck mud flat skid plates with something more substantial :) Is that road plowed in the winter?

Harold was out taking pictures, he usually posts his a few days after the event. Takes a long time to sort through that many shots. I'm sure he'll post here when they're available.

Hi all,

Yes, it generally takes a day to sort through all the files and organize by driver, and select suitable ones for posting. Then it takes another day to 'adjust' the files so that they are more or less uniform in brightness. (When I take them, white cars get deliberately underexposed, black cars overexposed etc. and then there are the clouds that keep changing the light. Why don't I just use auto-exposure? Because then headlights and sun glints affect the exposures adversely.) Anyway, here are the pics from Saturday 13 June 2015:
