So we are sitting here at a go kart track with a dented front bumper after drifting into the tires. We figure that we might as well get a vehicle we are more than ok with crashing and enter it into some events. Just wondering how we get into it? Licenses, costs (other than the car) etc...

Appreciate any information!

Thanks Gerald T. Caseley

You need a car that's safe (safe is your responsibility, but wheels that will stay on the car and a seat that won't fall out. Working belts. All glass present.) Car doesn't have to be street legal, you can tow a beater there, many do. A club membership and $20 entry. Helmets (M or SA2000 or better) are needed but loaners are available on site. Other than that its pretty much show up and run, just like AutoSlalom.

Classes are AWD, FWD, RWD and Prepared (anything with a cage, significantly lightened, engine swaps, etc). Cones are 2 seconds, various penalties for off courses and over-running the stop box. Its all pretty simple and a lot of fun!

The Bluenose Autosport Club Calendar:

Event Dates
November 23, 2014 – Scotia Speed World, NS
December 07, 2014 – Scotia Speed World, NS
January 04, 2015 – Scotia Speed World, NS
January 18, 2015 – Atlantic Motorsport Park, NS
February 15, 2015 – Scotia Speed World, NS
March 01, 2015 – Atlantic Motorsport Park, NS
March 15, 2015 – Scotia Speed World, NS
March 29, 2015 – Atlantic Motorsport Park, NS

There's also two events in scheduled in Moncton in February and March.

Is that going to be a regional rule?

CARS RallyCross rules are much different than ASN Solo rules:

http://carsrally.ca/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_download&gid=263&Itemid=57&lang=en

28.1.2.3 Mandatory equipment
(a) Helmets meeting NRR.11.1.6 or bearing “Snell Memorial Foundation” 1995 M or 1995 SA (or
more recent) labels must be worn by all drivers and passengers. A DOT motor vehicle helmet
may be worn if is the type that covers the ears (no skull caps).
(b) Minimum three point seat harnesses must be worn by drivers and passengers.

Not sure I agree with a twenty year old helmet being used in any competition, but the rules seem to be.

Those are the outgoing 2014 rules which are being revamped for 2015. 1995s and DOTs are out in the 2015 National rules but 2000s are still valid.

http://carsrally.ca/index.php?option=co ... 14&lang=en (Edit: The CARS forum apparently won't allow hot-linking. Go to About CARS/Bulletins and its under 2014-08)

There's nothing preventing a region or club from instituting more restrictive rules, however, which is why I ask.
