Okay, since Event #1 is cancelled #2 will be our first event of the year! We need an organizer for this one, who's interested?

As organizer you have to:

- Meet Pidge at the site and take delivery of the cones
- Plan out the course and set things up
- Inspect the lot to make sure there are no surprises or problems (If there's anything major Dave or others will jump in)
- Conduct the drivers meeting (We'll provide a list of items that need to be addressed)
- Ensure the event runs smoothly, address any issues that come up and any problems from/with competitors
- At the end of the event ensure that the cones are collected and the lot is in good condition

You won't be set adrift on your own, experienced organizers and competitors will still be present, we're just looking to spread the load a little bit. The job can even be divided among multiple people if someone wants to focus on a particular aspect, though all the jobs obviously must be handled. Its not a difficult job and you can still run, plus you get to design the course!

If you're interested in helping out at this event or any of the events on the calendar please let me know! My goal is to pre-arrange organizers for ever event and give Dave the break he deserves to focus on having fun like we've all been doing for the last 10 years!

Okay folks, time to speak up! We need organizers! Who's going to take this one on? We all love RallyCross, time to give a little back so we can keep playing!

While we have found an organizer for next Sunday's event, the silence isn't inspiring. Folks, this is serious, if you want to rallycross we need to start pitching in. If organizers don't step forward we may have to start cancelling events. It would really be a shame to lose out on events because nobody was willing to put in an extra hour or two even once over the entire 10 event season!

Looking to join this Rally- X, I have some questions and I figured I would post them here.
We have 3 drivers looking to use 1 car, is this allowed?
The vehicle to be used was involved in some bumper / headlight damage. What sort of inspections determine whether the vehicle is rally-x safe or not?
Can we beat Dave Hull's times?

Thanks in advance

No bumpers? No problem!
Headlights aimed at the sky? Who cares!
No headlights at all? That's just weight reduction!
Sounds like that car will fit in perfectly with some of the other cars that frequent Rally-X.
I think as long as your seats are firmly attached to the chassis, your seat belts work (and are installed), you aren't leaking fluids and your battery is secure...you should be ok. There have been some real sh!t show up and they've run before.

3 Drivers seems to be ok and is done quite often at the events. RallyX is much more laid back than slalom events, so I don't think there is the "wait 5 minutes between drivers" rule that the slalom events stick to. If your car holds up, jam as many people behind the wheel as possible. You can even bring a passenger ("navigator").

You are more than welcome to beat Dave's times. Is the car in question a FWD?

Gord,
I will volunteer to run an event...just need to figure out which one...and preferably I'd like one of the SSW events.

Someone should check on the lot. Today Adesa started parking there overflow cars in the gravel lot you usually use. Will likley be 100 or so there by tomorrow afternoon.

Problematic, They did this last year but it was fairly contained.

Anybody passing by the area regularly? Colin?

i work right across from the lot. Adesa's lot is full and they are planning on moving a lot more cars over there tomorrow.

Sorry, didn't realize you worked in the area or had inside info. We'll have to call SSW and find out what their intentions are. We've worked with cars present before, but if they're going to load up the lot obviously there will be issues.

Saw the cars as I was driving home. As of 4:00, there looked like 3 solid rows of cars, parked end to end, running the entire length of the parking lot...the side bordering on Adesa's lot.
The lot is still usable this way, but likely not usable if they start adding more vehicles...

Sounds like Trevor has the scoop...I'm sure we'll both keep everyone updated. I'll be out that way on Sat afternoon, so I'll stop in and do one last recon run.

Been discussing this, we can use the small lot across the street if we arrive and the cars are an issue. We'll have to hope that this isn't going to be the trend for the season, but it may well be.

The small lot is tighter but pretty smooth and we can still do some interesting courses.

Yeah, we're using the small lot on Sunday.

Gord. Those cars will be put of there in a month likely.

Any idea what they're building between the SSW lot and the Adessa lot? Expansion maybe? I noticed they're cutting a road off the SSW lot to get there, but that might have just been easier access than going over the culverts from the road.

I'm confused.... :?:
Don't we pay SSW to use there lot? Do we have a contract?

These guys likely pay too, and for more days, and much more often. I am willing to bet that if we talked to them nicely, next time they may park more considerately for us.

We were informed at the beginning of the season this was a possibility and Adessa gets preference (I suspect because they DO pay, as Brian says). Plus the fact I'm not sure Adessa would be comfortable with us sharing the lot with their brand new cars. Last year it was overflow from the Park'n'Ride which is a different beast entirely.

At least we have a backup lot, Sunday will still be plenty of fun.

Wow. Totally unexpected to receive best time of the day. If those stupid 4 or 5 cones had not fallen over in the wind, I might have done better overall, lol

A great day organized by Gord and Ian, thank you. And thanks to all the cone catchers, starters and the Pidge Family for all that you do. Greatly appreciated!

See you December 8th

Nice to see the Snake is off to a good start. I'll make it to the next one and try to show up Dan in his own car

I apparently undrslalomed the slalom on my last run which was good for like 6-7 positions overall. D'oh!

Ian set up a really fun course! Who's up for doing it next time? I'll be posting the event tonight.

What a blast! A big thank you to the volunteers for organizing a great event. I am happy to help out later on in the season, once I get a few races under my belt and start to understand how things are done.

On a less important note, if it isn't too much trouble, could I get a double check on my run 4 time? Maybe it is just wishful thinking, but I thought it was my fastest run.

Cheers,
Gregor A.

Pictures from RallyCross #1 (24 Nov 2013) are now posted on the BAC page:

http://www.bluenoseautosport.ca/hmmerk/ ... /index.htm

They are all from the first run. My hands got very cold and I was going to have to leave early anyway. They are more-or-less in chronological order.

A few samples:
