Joe and I are back in the game this year. The S70 is officially retired and being parted out, and we have a new, also brick shaped vehicle to bring out tomorrow.

We just bought it about an hour ago and plan on giving it a good shake down at the track. Hopefully nothing important falls off.

Great event today!

It was good to get back behind the wheel for a gravel event. It was my first in 2 years and my first in the Wagon. Small, lightwieght FWD cars are great fun at these events...but man, there's something to be said about 260hp + AWD! I don't know if I'll ever be able to go back :)
Lots of great competition as usual. Thanks to Wayne for having nearly identical times (and similar cone count).

See you guys at the next one!

Thank you Colin!

Thanks to Dave for organizing. Brisk, but fun!

Such a great course. I wish they could all be that kind of layout and surface condition. Not sure my car agrees though. :D

That was a lot of fun! Thanks to Dave and Ian (and the new owner of the Audi, who's name I have totally forgotten) for taking me along on a few runs. Very cool stuff.

As the only local event I have had the chance to attend...it was good fun to be back on the side lines pick'en up the cones and there were plenty of "Cone Killa's" in the event today.

Nice layout...very nice surface for a gravel parking lot...looked to have held up to the "attention" of the drivers.

There was even one FWD car running the course with low profile summer tires on !! 8O

Good stuff.

Great fun today!!! Thanks to Dave Hull for being the best organizer and to everyone who braved the raw wind and cold to reset the pylons and all the help at the end of the race. Let's not forget Pidge and Charlotte who are so dedicated and diligent in getting the times and scoring right. Many hands make light work and the guys and gals out there today are the most upstanding characters and race enthusiasts. We are honoured to be in your company, always feel welcome and we appreciate all the support and tips and guidance. Come on out, give it a try and have some fun! Bring your Gortex!

Beyond the help of the competitors resetting cones and flagging at the start/ finish I want to recognize Harold Merklinger for taking pictures and picking up fallen cones.
Also in the cone reset department was Kevin Doubleday, Rob Sinclair and Nate Perron.
Thanks All.

Look again. Ian was driving the wagon too. :) He did call in a ringer car after the control arm broke, though. :)

Might want to go over the class of a few of those people, like it appears that two people are driving the same car, but once it's in "F", once it's in "A", or F and R for the Volvo.

I was going to mention that. We didn't do any drivetrain swaps during runs. The 760 was definitely RWD on both runs. :)

Nate I'm glad you enjoyed the ride along.

Oh well as Red Green might say if you can't be fast be spectacular

Dave, you entered the stopbox from the side, first time I think I've ever seen that! 8O After I saw you didn`t start the next run I figured you had gone through the stop box due to blowing a brake line. Neon driver`s first assumption

Well not quite, it was close though, but I did open up the entrance by moving the first pylon at the start of the box on the left side so we could get in the box. We did stop in the box without moving any pylons after entering it, but still got tagged with a 30 second penalty for failing to stop in the box or moving pylons from the inside of the box.

Sorry, I thought the stopbox started with the first pylon in the row. My bad, you DEFINATELY didn't make it between the first two pylons in the row for the stopbox, but if they don't count then you were definately wrongly penalized. However, half an inch more to the left, it would have been an off course judging by a) this video, and b) Harold's photograph's. :P

Easy...I have a lead foot. A 360 in each of my first two runs will do that. I did have the fastest run between the two of us though.

Jut an observation.....take it with a "grain of salt".

Dave...in the little time I was actually at the event I did notice a few things regarding two of your runs I saw....

1: Your actual top speed was very close to the other quick cars.

2: Your exit speed from the corners was just not up to the 4 wheel drive boys.

Note...your rear wheel shocks may not be up to the task of controling your wheels over that terrain at the speed !

Observation....maybe a little slower entrance speed into the corners...equals less horizontal slide thru corners...equals more potential grip from the corner ??

Just an opinion.... :)

Dave..."I couldn't hold a candle to you"....I am not in your league...it was just meant as constructive criticism....and your not doing "anything" wrong. :P

Actualy what I was trying to describe can be easily seen if you just watch how Ian drives...

BTW...you always were flashy...made for great pictures!!

The way the focus is currently set up it would beat itself to pieces even on as smooth a surface as was there at Scotia speed world.

Dave, I'm actually surprised you managed to only knock over one cone! I thought we would see the whole stop box sailing gracefully through the air...
