We are actively searching for a replacement parking lot, but as we have been discussing with Ming it is more likely we will have to reschedule our date. Stay tuned!

Let's just do a Shearwater double and call it a season. 3 total weekends might boost overall participation. Not enough weekends in the summer as it is.

I guess I'm hoping that another club can switch dates with us so that we can all get more practice in for the Nationals?

Albeit I missed a presidents meeting in Feb, but during conference call I was recently on it was said that we can still hold national, regional, and club events as our own ASN until things get finalized putting a proper National body in place...

Has something changed?

Thats all correct, But Slalom at Slemon is not listed as a National event. (YET). From my understanding it will not be a National event, Unless something has changed.

Maybe Ming can put some light on this?
Steve asked it on here months ago with no reply, He Also asked it on the MMSC Facebook page but no official answer there as well.
From my dealings with ARMS, all the regions across Canada agreed it would be the 2020 Nationals if MMSC wanted to make it a National event. As far as everyone knew down here and across Canada it is/was a national event. I even moved a Race weekend because it was a National event.

This is off topic, but I'm just replying here since this is where the question was asked.

So, the status of Slalom@Slemon as a National event keeps going around in circles. Maybe there's some miscommunication somewhere. While everyone is willing to support Slalom@Slemon as the National event, MMSC is not a sanctioning body and therefore can't declare it to be the National event. There's no National sanctioning body, so MMSC asked the Regions to declare it the National event. So the reply MMSC got was everyone supports you, please declare it the National event.

While that conversation goes round and round, I'm preparing Slemon to be a National level event.

Thanks for the update Ming!

Back to where we stand on Long Wharf...

We did find out from somebody that we know in the windmill business (and no, he doesn’t drive a VW R32 8) ) that the windmills are scheduled to be removed in time for our event. However it turned out that the increased triple day cruise ship season was going to need the space.

Then somebody coughed on the other side of the globe and the cruise ship season tanked, but before we could call to see if there was a possibility that we could get back in on our date ...well, here we are in a State of Emergency and not even sure if we will be allowed to go out and play come June?

Unfortunately id say we are in for a boring summer of not much racing. Id be surprised if we are able to Race/Slalom in Late May early June. S@S might be the first event we can even run in the Region. Plan for it and if it needs to be canceled oh well.

Yeah at this point I'll just be happy to get out to any events regardless of what they are called. FIA/ASN situation becomes sort of trivial when we start looking at the tough situation a lot of us are going to face in the next number of months.

Thanks for giving us an update Ming!

Unfortunately I agree with Joel and Steve

From the NS Government website:

"The following restrictions are in place under the Authority of the Health Protection Act:

Gatherings and social distancing
There are to be no gatherings of more than 50 people.
Organizations and businesses are required to practise social distancing of two metres (6 feet)."
