Interesting to note that they bumped to 140/200 treadwear rule for another year. Other than the Bridgestone Potenza RE050 that's comes on the FiST or the Michelin Pilot sport Cup2 on the FoRS I can't think of any "street" tire that's been sold in the past year and a half with less than 200 TW. Unless you count those weird new Nankang tires; not sure what to make of those.....

It's too bad that Toyo can't make a competitive tire. I would love to support them as they are the only ones who give back to us "grassroots" racers.

The R1R has been out for 6(!!!!) years, when other tire manufacturers are coming out with new stuff almost yearly...

Bust some money on R&D, Toyo!

It sucks because it didn't used to be that way. The R1R was the tire for light cars up until last year. If you look at any of the 2014 scca results they were on nearly ever car in ES/STC/STS/STF/etc. Even snagged an STX win or two. But then they just haven't done anything with it other then rebranding to 200tw. It's kinda the same story for hankook and dunlop now too, their tires are second best now.

And lots of other companies give back to grassroots racers, just not in canada  . Hoosier has awesome contingency programs, and most tire manufacturers have decent national tour programs.
