Since we're talking about rules, take a look at the NASA car classing rules. Its like time attack where you get a base class and then get points for every mod. Not as complicated as ta though.

That's how autocross here used to be classed before moving to the scca classes

After people have spent so much time and money to conform to the scca classes, I think it would be horrible to consider implementing some other classing structure without an excellent reason

I've got to disagree with this part. An attack on my character wasn't called for but I thank you Brian for coming to my defense. Brent O'Connor addressed this thread perfectly IMO. Serge's explanation of the Ontario way of scoring was helpful though.
