If we did that, the SS cars, STU, SSM, ASP, etc would always win. This grouping equalizes (in theory) an HS and an SS car. An ASP car with an FSP car. It gives your car an advantage compared to Colin's CRX. If you two had the same PAX you'd have to be even faster.

You also paxed really well at Digby and AMP were the power came into play. I was 1.5 or so seconds behind you guys on the larger courses.

We all need to wait for more events to really get a idea on how the new system will work. 1 event is not going to give us any idea on how it will work all season. Plus it was damp in the morning, cold, and windy. Not really a good day for some peoples setups. Mustang with power, Ben on Hoosiers, and Colin, Well he has a JDM car. Hes just over classed right out of the gate.

I Agree with all of this. i know we have a disadvantage in smaller lots. I Just dont like how cars in the different championships (Street Modified) Have different Pax. if cars are all grouped together they should have the same Pax Factor. Thats just what i think. it might not make sense. l

They're not all equal. If they were we wouldn't have so many classes in the first place. Grouping them together was just a way to save money and time for trophies. But I really like the theory. But as Joel said it will look different in Digby, Slemon and AMP for sure. Will any of it be accurate? That's another topic. I

THIS JUST IN! Our Sponsor Secord Insurance Services has given us a CASH prize! That's right a $100.00 cash prize.

And now how are we going to give this to YOU!
We will hold a draw of all registered participants. and if this is your first solo event you get your name in twice!

But wait there is more! If you PRE-REGISTER we will put your name in AGAIN. and the sooner you PRE-REGISTER the MORE chances you have to win.

Get your name in today and get 3 extra ballets! (yes those already registered will get the same) Register next week and 2 extra Ballets and if you wait until the last week to PRE-REGISTER you will only get 1 extra ballet.

So get you name in there today. and remember to see our sponsor Joe Secord for Living benefits and RRSP planning.

With the range of course styles I think it will all come out in the wash. You'll likely see Dan blow my socks off on big courses like Digby but I accept that given I have an advantage on smaller courses. Trevor if I'm on your heels on larger courses it will then be obvious you just need to drive faster :orglaugh: :orglaugh: :orglaugh:

Registered! Can't wait.

Actually we tried to put the money towards our operating budget, but the sponsor wanted it to be used only as a prize :beerchug:

BTW we are working on some other surprises, so everybody bring extra cash to spend :surprise:

Some may be weather dependant, others may not work out (...turns out helicopter rides cause pylons to blow all over the place, who knew :mconfused: ) so we don't want to get any hopes up yet.

Time to change gears (figuratively ...not your dogleg close ratio, unless you need too?)
from yesterday's Track event to our humble little NBSCC Autoslalom next Sunday:

Currently over (30) pre-registered entries and climbing :2jump:

I read this thread and I am not sure how you (or the regional organizer) is addressing super classing (combining multiple SCCA classes or equivalent). Last year RTR, RTA, and RTF were very popular within our club (CMC). Each was a pax class with the cars limited to 180 tread wear tires). We find PAX works best on Stock/Street classes and less well on underprepared advance classes SP, P, and M. The ST classes seem pretty fair. This year we have a huge number of classes, we supplement the Street/Street Race, with tire equivalents in SP, P, and M.

We do bumping to make a min of 3 cars in a trophy class. Bumped classes use PAX times for ranking.

Hey Chris you need to follow Ray home and drop by to our event with that awesome little Saab Sonnet

The Pax discussion should probably be had on another thread (...and everybody knows my thoughts as a driver of a prepared/modified car on that subject)
but I do know as co-organizer I'm happy that the number of classes has been reduced... although this may also be a nightmare trying to keep the adjusted times straight on the day of the event :fie:

One of these time I am going to get up to to Slalom at Slemon. But the reality is it is a long haul to Loring and your event. Our club base is in Southern Maine. In the area in an around Portland. So it is hard to justify and (pay for both). I am jealous of you folks, you are relatively close to both venues.

I hope you get a big turnout at the National Championship. There is another thread where someone was asking about running big events. Lots of good info there as it is quite different from small events.

We always enjoy having the competitors from Canada. We hope you are not to whipped from the championship to make your way across the border in August.

I'm planning to be back to Loring, this time with an engine that doesn't have a 4-6K narrow power band that makes me look like an idiot shifting all the time (and ultimately probably one too many money shifts with that awful 914 shifter/pedals causing me to also be looking for another engine  )

Anyway changing gears back to Long Wharf ...I've been asked by a few people how to get to the event.
Here's probably the best way:

If anyone is thinking of going up but needs a place to sleep saturday night (or knows someone who might), let me know. Dan can't make it due to work reasons and I have a room at chateau st john with an extra bed. $65 for the night, extremely close to the event site.

Found someone!

I will be leaving from Truro likely a little after lunch. I'm planning to head over to the Truro car show early Saturday morning for a few hours before hand and leave from there.

I'd like to do a convoy, it's such a boring drive otherwise. I may have to detour at Moncton though. Anytime Saturday works for me.

We expect to leave around 1pm but will be detouring into Moncton. Probably slower than the rest though especially on the hills.

Well, with $2,585.31 in expenses for a club with $300 in the bank ...in a word "YES"

And if anybody wants to do the math you'll realize how much sponsors are kicking in, and that we are not out of the woods yet! :(

I can relate to that set of figures...end of month is always a treat!

Good luck on the event and I sure hope the local clubs do their part and show the support required to make this happen in the future. Let the competition begin !!!
