Devon,
If youre coming from Kentville and you're taking the route 14 shortcut. Don't head towards Mill Village/Shubenacadie when you get to Cheese factory corner. You'll beat the absolute crap out of your car on that road. Just stay on the 14 through Nine Mile River / Hardwood lands, until you come up to the highway.

Really nice road all the way through. Twisty and turny, and the whole thing is brand new pavement from start to finish.

(EDIT) - well apparently thats just dumb to go through the crappy road anyway. It wouldnt save you any time and gps probably wouldnt pick that route either.

Does that still class me as STX with racing stripes?

Well you were only half a second off me last time, any little thing could make that up! I'll probably just take the highway, I've taken both routes many times and I burn a lot less gas on the highway :p That road is too much fun.

I'm stoked to see the snake again, you put on quite a show with her at Digby last year.

So how did it go today?! (I must autoslalom vicariously through all of you these days... but - in Arnie's words - I'll be back!)

Was a good day. Hot, but went smoothly. I thought I was safe from the burn until I twisted in the seat to get out of the car at home. Back of the legs are pretty red this morning.

Thanks to MMSC for a great event. My video to follow.

Thanks to everyone who worked the event, I had a fantastic time. The course was very different than what I was used to but definitely made for a great learning opportunity. I had a day of fighting tire pressures. For my last run I thought I would toss an extra 2.5 pounds in all four to see if it made a difference. Well... it cut a second off my time. AMP pressures do not apply at AutoX! Lesson learned.

If anyone has pics of me feel free to toss them up :p

Here is a video of my final run.

Great event, if a bit hot. I regretted getting a set of rcomps immediately after having to put street tires back on in 30° weather.

Two errors:

I'm listed as a 328is when it should be an M3.

One of the S2000s is listed as STX and it definitely isn't legal for that class. Should probably be corrected as it would affect Devon's contingency.

I think you're right, and that Ray should be STR

It would also drop him to 4th in the PAX standings instead of first, for anyone wondering :P

Hmm... So I got first in STX? Can someone please verify this ASAP as this is time sensitive as I already filed my submission for reward.

Thanks Scott for letting everyone know. Maybe I'll help ya swap your wheels next time :p

Send a message to Ming on here/Facebook, but I just checked the Docs and S2000 SHOULD be in STR/BS/BSP

Yeah, I just looked, and it does fit in STR. I was wondering this when Ming mentioned earlier that Ray was planning to enter in STX with his car. Hopefully this get's corrected soon to help out Devon. How did that get through? Ray is one of the "go to" guys, IMO, a veteran of the sport. Not to mention he regularly goes south of the border to compete, hard to believe a mistake was made on his behalf. Unless there is something I and obviously a few others are missing?

No, a quick check of the rules shows that there isn't any way for it to be STX legal. It's not listed under the approved cars list, and it doesn't fall under the general STX classing: "Sedans & Coupes NOC (non sports-car-based; 4-seat minimum; 3.1L to 5.1L normally aspirated or up to 2.0L forced induction)".

STR is the proper street tire class for an S2000. And going back to ming's quote:

Devon Thorpe wrote:

Shawn should be there in the Focus. I believe Ray is planning on competing in STX this year. I can run the Celica in STX. I'm sure the Moncton drivers will give you a run for your money

The celica isn't STX legal either, it's STC.

So, "Moncton drivers" are cheating to give you a run for your money Devon! :P
Seriously though, that needs to be fixed to properly class the car. Going forward, maybe someone at every event should be forced to class all cars, the Steward maybe? Who was the Steward at this event anyways? That's who should be involved in this, or get Jason Smith involved, he's the Regional Solo Director. Unless they are changing the results and just haven't changed them on here.

Any sort of official results would be posted on the mmsc.ca website

The post I put up here was just an excel file I put together after the fact (based on the data that was on the website at the time)
I think it's easier to look at in the format that I used (FTD-list rather than class-list)
The image I posted won't be updated, but I imagine the official results will be

Also, Ming could legally bump from STC to STX with his Celica. That's not an issue here :P

Jason

What rules are the ones to follow for protests and inquiries? I looked the the ARMS Handbook, and includes only protests. The ASN Solosport GCRs include inquiries, and protests as forms of grievances.

For the rest of the solo competitors, I draw your attention to the rules for sorting these things out. The ARMS Handbook, 2013 version is on this site, as is the link to the ASN rules. Grievances need to be put in writing (a note pad works) and given to a steward or organisor (if a steward is not at the event) within the timelines laid out in the rules.

When contingency monies are on the line, it is prudent to have a copy of the rules with you, and wait at the event until the results are posted, as there are time limits that apply, and they are short - measured in minutes and hours, not days.

When protests are filed, problems are taken note of at a higher level, and when needed, penalties can be applied.

Forums are a great place to discuss theoreticals and rules in advance of competition, but phrases like "cheating", even in jest (as I'm sure is how it is intended) don't pull the solosport community together, but push it apart. Not everyone shares the same sense of humor.

I am glad that despite what seems like no grievance being formally filed, it seems that the issue is getting fixed. Lets learn the lesson, and read the rules, and learn how to grieve incidents and results in an effective way.

My two cents.

A formal written protest was brought to the attention of the steward who forwarded it on to myself.
Currently we are in discussion with all parties involved.

We hope to have the matter resolved shortly once all pertinent parties weight in.
